Matrix Dudes this Buds for You

Post by GOOSESTEPPER »

I read in alot of threads that adding units cant be done because of code. Ya maybe for modders, the consumers cant alter it.

But what about you the Matrix dudes, you made the code. You could add Godzila to the Japanese production table if you wanted to, or add Captain America to the US production table.

Matrix, you could poll the players for ideas and mods and alternate scenarios.

Id like to know why the caucasus has a border of 2 now? German paradrop? German bombardment?

How come Me-109's cant cross the channel by fall 40? Luftwaffe fighters flew from the french coast to as deep as bristol and close to birmingham. Is it because that if german fighters had a 2 speed they could be a 3 speed in no time, heres a solution, drop the jap fighter speed to 2 and lower the world standard to make it double to get the 3 speed and raise brit fighters to 2 speed also. Keep soviet fighters at 1 speed to reflect the numbers of bi planes(Yaks) they had. Chinas crappy also.

Why is Italy and the UK so lame at the beginning of the game? Ive been beat (as Axis) by the fact that the UK has way too many militia at the start of the game, and my opponent does a crappy invasion of italy with two dozen militia. replace them with a smaller number of inf units, or put the partisan value on the english colonies so they cant mobilize all the militia units. Add an arty to egypt, and the brit isles, to make the cheap taking of scotland by the axis harder.

How come russian tanks are so feeble at the beginning, is it to reflect the crappy tanks crews they had in 41?

I'd like to know how many players actually play pbem games in the 41,42,43 scenarios?

Adding units can be done, every nation had its type of super weapon/s throw an extra unit in the game make it a wonder weapon unit. a missile an abomb what ever.

also add motorized inf. units. and the ability to fortify beyond the already fortified areas that are in the game.

Matrix dudes if their is an expansion, gear it towards what the consumer wants, we play the game, we pay for the game.

Adding more units would require a major rewrite of several parts of the game - most noteably the UI. I doubt the gain is worth the effort. Now, if you were to throw in a couple of grand to pay for the work I am sure it would be a different matter.

Caucasus: Yes, it was far too easy paradropping on the oilfields.

Italy: Its not hard to defend Italy. It used to be - but several changes (Italian surrender rule, lowering of WA amph value and the freezing of 2 more WA TRS) means that its very reasonable in v1.070+. If you lost Italy during the first year it was due to bad play - learn and avoid doing the same mistake again.

UK: If the UK really is that weak I am looking forward to seeing you take advantage of that in our current game. After that we can return to the issue. I expect Scotland to be made rough in the next patch though so thats one step towards making the UK less weak.

Russians tanks: I assume so, it seems reasonable enough to me.

British channel: Joel touched on this in other threads already. Its a design decision. Its modable if people prefer to play differently.

41, 42, 43 pbem: No idea, not many would be my guess but there is no way to know.

Mind, I am not employed by Matrixgames or by 2by3 - so consider the above my personal view.

I am a 2by3 guy and I agree with Jan's answers. As with any game there are choices and tradeoffs made during design. Sometimes we become aware after release of issues that we didn't see fully during development and we make changes (see Italy surrender and Caucasus border for examples). Sometimes we think we struck the right balance to give the flavor we want given the very strategic nature of the game and the many competing issues involved (see my answers regarding the battle of britain and range 1 German fighters in another thread).
All understanding comes after the fact.
