RE: Check the Front Page!
Thanks for all the hard work, all of you in the Henderson Field Productions crew - and thanks to the gang at Matrix for not telling us forumites to shove it and forget ever any improvements on WITP!
While I don't want to speak for Chez here, I can tell you that his house is okay but his place of employment took a big hit. I'm sure that everybody here is with me in wishing him all the best in dealing with the aftermath of the Chehalis River floods.

As one of the original crew from the WiTP beta team, I wish to express my thanks to the new boys on the block.
The AE is the best news since the original announcement of WiTP

RE: Check the Front Page!
A quick question:
Are there improvements to the interface? I don't see any mentioned?
A quick comment:
The Opponents Wanted thread is going to see a marked slow-down I think.

There is at least one interface improvement: ship class filters in 'create TF ship selection'-screen.

I'll take this opportunity to beat Nikademus to the punch - play Victory At Sea ...and play B-Mod 1.4 and dream of things to come [:D]
...and read at least 10 pages of Lundstrom's First Team everynight before bed. [;)]

Nice, an expansion for the best wargame on the planet.....
Thing is, who is going to be the first bitch/moan/complainer when or if a bug is found or some TF won't unload or carry all of an LCU correctly??

It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

Thank you Mr. Rutins. This is very good news! Now if I could only go into hibernation until summer. The anticipation is going to kill me! [:D]

I've put WITP aside for the past year to deal with RL. Looks like meat's back on the menu! Thanks Matrix! Hope you continue to support this franchise. Like others, I hope the AI becomes more competitive, the sync bug gets fixed, and some of the house rules become unnecessary[&o]

This will give me something to do over the summer now that the England football team aren't going to be busy [:D][;)]
Do they have a new manager, yet?
I had the interesting experience of being in Glasgow the night Scotland lost, and in South Ruislip the night England lost. And we in the US think the folks in Texas are rabid about their football!

RE: Check the Front Page!
This story will go on a bit (unlike all my other posts, hah) and it is completely devoted to explaining to Matrix why they ought to release AE on July 8th, so feel free to exit at this point unless you are involved in releasing AE or like to hear a well reasoned spot of begging.....
I live in northern Scotland, I came here 31 years ago when the RAF posted me here to cruise the vast reaches of the north Atlantic, a young, eagle eyed (am I laying this on a bit thick?) sentinel protecting the seas against communist aggression. For approximately, oooh, 31 years now we've had a nice sunny week in May, and it's pi$$ed down from mid May to October (at that point it freezes and becomes that annoying slushy stuff that freezes your n*ts off but isn't quite bad enough to phone in to work to take a day off).
My wife and I have tired of this, so my wife (bless) invested in a holiday home, while I changed my job to ensure we were all off for the school summer holidays. Now we enjoy sunny (and thundery) summers each year in the USA. We have, much to my own personal regret, only enjoyed 4th July once out there - our schools persist in closing a week too late most years - and this year, after 2 days travel (approx 8 hrs London-Orlando, 1 full day by ox cart escaping Scotland prior to that) and we arrive on 7 July. Allowing for the TSA, and the unique 'reclaim your baggage only to put it back on a carousel' etc we won't get to our sanctuary until maybe 8 pm. (Okay, I often get the Orlando exits mixed up, my wife doesn't read maps, and I have occasionally spent 2 hours trying to find I-4...but I'm getting better. Please don't mention the time I cried 'if only the sun weren't overhead I could find north and orient my map'....2 hours later I noticed the hired wagon had a compass display at roof level...guess who was heading north instead of south? Look on the birght side, I almost got to see what Carolina looked like - I doubt I'd have hit New Jersey without at least an inkling of a wrong turn at some point).
So, I will stop to buy Beer, milk, coffee, beer, cereals, beer, orange juice, bread, beer and beer at Walmart on 7 July. I will then go out on 8 July, while my wife re-activates the phone/cable/internet, and buy a PC 'cos I'm fed up unzipping the laptop bag endlessly at airport security desks (why they seem to imagine laptops are a threat whilst allowing people to carry didgeri doos and guitar cases aboard unchecked I have still to figure out), and laptops don't have 19" screens anyhow.so I'm off to Staples, Walmart etc on 8 July to get my holiday setup sorted and I will spend 8 July snarling at the family, taking the occasional dip, connecting everything up and installing Windows, Office, and WITP.
Isn't this a long story?
And the moral of this story is.....
Just think what a stunningly great PR coup it would be, if, on the evening of 8 July, having travelled umpty thousand miles (don't forget the ox cart - there's good PR in that) when I finally get my new PC to work and actually connect to the Matrix e-store.... the first thing I get to do is download and install AE?
Wow - how could Matrix fail to be motivated by that?
So, 8 July it is then guys, okay?
