RE: Request for Additional Beta Testers
I meant for this request to remain open for 1 week. But I looked at June instead of August to find the first Wednesday.[:(]
The actual closing date is Wednesday, August 5th. I'll make the selections then.

RE: Request for Additional Beta Testers
I would be interested in beta testing.
1. Any previous experience in testing software. I have been involved in writing software for applications and websites for 10 years including design, testing, bug fixing, and document writing - no games experience but medium to large application software with millions of records. I understand the importance of documenting errors so that they can be reproduced on other platforms by other people.
2. Your experience of cardboard and paper World in Flames (we strive for equal numbers of Newbies and Grognards on the team) I would be a Recruit - played the cardboard version several years back - definitely out of practice.
3. Your experience with CWIF (Australian Design Group's ealrier version of a computerized World in Flames). Some - downloaded and played the game for just a few rounds.
4. Your PC specification. (just the basics): Multiple computers available:A> Intel Pentium M 1.73 Ghz 2gig ram, Vista Business, 1024x760, minimal video card.B> Intel Pentium Duo 2.0 Ghz, 4 gigs ram, Mutli-boot: Vista Business 32bit+64bit/Vista Ultimate 32&64 bit/XP 32bit and 64 bit, virtual server, monitor: 1280X1024c> have 3 other machines that could be used as well.
5. Whether you have: (a) access to multiple computers for testing play over the Internet and/or (b) multiple email accounts for testing PBEM.I have both multiple computers and multiple email accounts
Thanks,
Ken.

Hi, Here I am too [;)]
1. Any previous experience in testing software.
I used to be an informatician (now I am selling games [:D]) so I have tested and written many softwares before (bank software essentially)

d. Grognard - Rules guru
I would say between "b" and "c" : I am currently playing a game of WiF, but it is only my second FE game (I have played a dozen of 5th edition games though), and unlike most "wiffers" I usually play with few options
3. Your experience with CWIF (Australian Design Group's ealrier version of a computerized World in Flames.
a. None
b. Some
c. A lot
b : I have played the barbarossa scenario
4. Your PC specification. (just the basics):
a. CPU speed AMD Athlon dual core 3800+ (2.01 GHz)
b. RAM 3Go
c. Operating system Vista
d. Maximum screen resolution for your monitor currently using a 1280*768 resolution, I can go up to 1680*1050
5. Whether you have: (a) access to multiple computers for testing play over the Internet and/or (b) multiple email accounts for testing PBEM
only one computer but multiple e-mails

RE: Request for Additional Beta Testers
We are not accepting any more applicants at this time (August 5, 2009).
---
I thank all of you who asked to be beta testers. We had twice as many applicants as there are slots to be filled.
---
I will be sending Personal Messages (PMs) via this forum to the applicants we have chosen (13). If some of them have changed their minds, then I will augment the group until I get 13 who say yes.
Once I have 13 confirmed acceptances, I'll post the list of the people we accepted in this thread.

RE: Request for Additional Beta Testers
I got tired of seeing people on the beta team referenced in this forum by their first names so I started looking up the people accepted for the beta.
I show that there have been 73 people accepted for the beta test team:
The original 21 on 12/28/2005 (I assume Greyshaft was accepted even though he forgot to list himself)
2 on 10/19/2006
3 on 9/3/2007
11 on 10/29/2007
12 on 2/3/2009
13 on 6/6/2008
13 on 8/7/2009
Have I missed anyone?

Yes you have.
2 on 10/19/2006
Also I believe there were a few that was recruited that first half a year which were never announced.
One of your links didn't work. Here I hope I got it working:
3 on 9/3/2007
So at least 75, but I would guess some have resigned ...

The link should be working correctly now. I also found 2 more were accepted in October 2006.
That brings the total up to 75 accepted for the beta test team since 2005.
I wouldn’t be surprised that attrition may have taken its toll in four years of testing.

RE: Request for Additional Beta Testers
There have been people accepted who never filled out their Non-Disclosure Agreements with Matrix Games. Or who never got past downloading the game and executing it. There are others who participated for a month or so, then disappeared. Many beta testers have found the real world intruding on their time available to beta test.ORIGINAL: Extraneous

This is an all-volunteer group so I don't lose any sleep over any of this.
Probably not shown on the list are some people who have been helping me on the side and who have priviledges comparable to beta testers (e.g., Peter).
In general, I have tried to keep the number of active beta testers between 30 and 40.

i would like to apply as beta tester. I can dedicate at least 10-12 hours per week to test the software
1. I'm actually beta tester for software for computer diving with Uwatec and Sunto (normal algorithm and Trimix computers)
2. Currently playing WiF on a regular basis (every Friday) for more than 10 years
3. Your experience with CWIF (Australian Design Group's ealrier version of a computerized World in Flames.
Some with the 1st beta testing when the project was still under Australian Design Group (i was also signing a No-Disclosure Agreement sending even a coppy of my ID and passport to Australia)
4. Your PC specification. (just the basics):
a. CPU speed 2.1 GHz
b. RAM 4 Gb DDR2
c. Operating system Windows XP SP3
d. Maximum screen resolution for your monitor 1366 x 768 ATI RADEON
Best regards
