This is my understanding as well. The factories that I had which were 0 (10) for the most part took as long to repair as those that were 0 (30)

Well then I'm an idiot. Thanks for parsing that for me. I did think they were going rather slowly, but didn't want to risk having a factory that wasn't fully repaired when it came time to switch it over to the next model. Time to expand my factories.

Hi Lokasenna. I just found your AAR and spent the evening reading it. I agree, get those Rufe factories up to 30 now. The larger they are, the faster they repair. Example: The game starts with a Ki-84 factory at 0(55). I kept it and added 5 more factories (to size 30) in my game. Currently, the large one is repaired to 32 and the farthest the others are repaired is 19. Proportionally, about the same, but significantly more repaired in the large factory. If I decide to use an R&D factory for a specific model, I immediately increase it to 30.

Actually, looking at the screen shot, I'd increase all the factories you intend on bringing to 30 now as opposed to later.

Just did. Supplies be hurtin'. Oh well, better I learn this now than in the summer of 42.

No wonder my factories repaired so fast in my games against the AI! I wasn't being overly careful!

Is this your first PBEM? Very different from the AI. Much more exciting. I wouldn't worry too much about the supply cost for R&D. For the most part it's gradual. I always keep an eye on the supply, fuel, oil and resource levels at Tokyo. If they're high (around a million or more), all is good at the Home Islands. Just keep dumping stuff there.

Until the B-29s come, as I just found out!

It has always been my litmus for the supply of the Home Islands. Now I will have to disperse more.

First campaign, yep.

I spent 90,000 supply just on expanding R&D the rest of the way [X(] (well, I didn't really expand it at all yet so the rest of the way was the whole thing). And I missed a few factories due to supply constraints at the bases. That's almost a million as they repair! Thankfully that part is gradual.

Not an issue. Read away. It won't change anything I can do or that you will do. In 45 when the B-29 recon gets going I can't hide much anyway. You'll find the jets being built under a mountain on Hokkaido, actually. [8D]

Add a few orders of magnitude and it applies today.
