RE: Autumn Fog - Allied
The German units West of the river have all been cut off from their supplies. This means that I have a really good opportunity to destroy a significant amount of German units.
I have already destroyed a bunch of units in the Clerf area and want to finish the remaining elements off. Now, I”m also going to go after the units West of Wallendorf.
To achieve this, the 9th Armd is going to continue pushing North on the West side of the Clerf River. The 4th Armd is going to cross at Clerf and head North.
The 80th, 26th, 5th and 28th will secure their bridgeheads and start destroying the German forces caught to the West of Wallendorf.
The 35th Inf Div is finished reorganizing and will start moving North – this is going to take a couple of days, so I will aim them towards Wiltz for now and adjust over time.

One other note, I have discovered that I have air capacity now, but I do not see any airfields that I can use to load my paratroopers... Damn.

His is going to be the most world-wide anticipated obituary in the history of the world, that I will tell you. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
RE: Autumn Fog - Allied
Good evening Larry,
I double checked and I do not see any airfields on the main map. There are some in Holland and England, but they are not on the linked map.
Oh well, I will use the British AB units as Infantry.

The main German effort remains in this area. They have pushed me back and have captured Fraiture. They have also managed to make some progress along the river line between Robertville and Trois Ponts.
The Germans have elements from 4 divisions in Malmedy and in front of Trois Ponts. I’m going to tweak the defence line here, but make no major moves.
Around Fraiture, the 10th Armd and 82nd AB are all mixed up. They have been making the Germans pay for any advancement. Elements of the 106th are also in the area – they were sent here to regroup. I’m going to tweak the defence, but I’m happy with how the three divs are fighting.
The 30th has already moved into place near Aywaille and will dig in.
The 75th Inf will arrive in Durbuy this afternoon. This means that even if the Germans push through the 10th and 82nd, they will still have to push through fresh divisions.
The 101st continues to hold the Germans at bay near Houfallize. The 5th Armd is ready to get stop the elements pushing through the gap North of the 101st.
Overall, I’m concerned, but not overly worried.

I am very interested in this scenario where a greater effort is made be a "beefed up" OOB than actually was available on 16 December 1944. Yes... there is the full GD corps and the elite HG corps added as well as several other infantry and artillery formations . Also we get a heavy tank battalion with Mark VI tanks straight from the eastern front. Increased support is added via preferential replacement levels to offset casualties, supply units and engineers are also more numerous but still.... this is still not what could have been added to the OOB if a maximum effort was made and this offensive was treated as a "last card" play. Lets see what was possible if every division and every other asset including Luftwaffe was stripped from the other fronts and made available.
RE: Autumn Fog - Allied
Hi Phil,
That would be a very interesting scenario to play - as either side.
Have a good day,

A look at the German units in this sector shows that there are a lot of artillery and HQ units and not a lot of Inf or Pz units.
To the East of Nideggen, there is only one Inf Regt. The rest of the Germans are HQs and artillery units. If I can be patient, I will be able to cut these units off after Duren falls. So, I should have the 83rd take over the two crossing sites and close up with the German units.
The 8th Inf can then continue to push South with a view to take Gemund from the East.
I am disappointed with the lack of success from the 3rd Armd Div. They have launched a bunch of attacks, but made very little headway.
Today, they will continue their attacks, with support from the 78th and 9th. The focus is to push South and East.
The 2nd Inf and the 7th Armd are going to push East. I want to head towards Elsenborn. If I can get it and Hofen, then a bunch of Germans units in this area will be cutoff from their supplies!

The Germans continue to push West and have pushed past Fraiture. They have also pushed along the Robertville – Trois Ponts line.
As can be seen the 30th, 75th and 5th Armd have all moved into locations to the West of the German advance. I’m going to continue the slow withdrawal of the 10th and 106th. If the 82nd AB had not decided to reorg, they would have fallen back a little bit as well. I want the Germans to continue to head West.
Along the Robertville-Trois Ponts line, the Germans have a lot of strong units in the Malmedy area. I expect them to try to attack in that area in the afternoon.
In the South East portion of the map, the lead elements of the 80th Inf and 4th Armd Divs are visible. These two divisions are running into mainly HQ and artillery units. I have to be careful not to overextend these units. However, St. Vith is a very tempting target.
