In China I pull back generally in the north, although manage to destroy a corps in central China. In the west, the withdrawal from Chungking has allowed a fresh assault on Kunming.

Off the west coast of the USA my subs find a weakened battleship (6-factor?) and destroy it.

APOLOGIES FOR THE LACK OF PICTURES. NORMAL SERVICE TO BE RESUMED NEXT TURN

In the Battle of San Francisco, the Kido Butai destroy a USN carrier, battleship and destroyer.

I can see one carrier in San Francisco Bay, but can't see where any other units of the USN are (except one submarine which I attack and lightly damage south of Shikoku).

The Japanese take the undefended Wake and Guam....

In the Western Desert the British withdraw, but I am in no position to advance...

In the Soviet Union my ineptitude continues. I take out the garrison in Kherson and have nothing to occupy the port with.....

The Battle of San Francisco continues....

I should learn to try and take notes of what happens in the replay. It all goes so quickly and my little brain can't keep up. I know there is a second USN carrier in San Francisco Bay but what else?.....

I destroy all four USN squadrons as sea. All my units are depleted and I took a risk by setting two carriers to bombers only. I need more CAP now. I accept I can't do anything about the USN carriers in port without risking destruction and so decide to withdraw.

Nothing happens in China.

In the Med I destroy a light cruiser squadron with a submarine/maritime bomber mix. But on the ground I am simply playing in the sand. My forces march one hex deep into part of Egypt.....

In the Soviet Union the well placed Soviet rear-guards cause me all sorts of problems.... I stupidly advance with an Italian army toward Stalino... with predictably painful results. The army will be lucky to survive any counter-attack.

Have you taken the DEI yet? You'll need that income, tho destroying those USN ships will buy you some time; gotta admire the chutzpah there.

Not yet. It's high in the priority list though! I noticed that I was able to hold in Manila for some time. I have therefore landed a sizeable force in the PI to try and ensure that the PI falls as quick as I can make it. This will give a solid platform for the NEI, although I am taking steps to kick start that campaign prior to the capture of Luzon - but as usual, my noob meanderings are not hugely inspiring [;)]

As for the Pacific Fleet, chutzpah? stupidity? desperation? [:D]

Having allowed the US to declare war before I could attack them [8|], it looked like the Americans had retreated from Pearl. If that was the case I assumed there was only one place to go so.....

It would have been better if I had taken along a couple more BB squadrons but then I didn't expect to be chasing the USN all the way to the west coast when I started out on what was supposed to be a raid on Pearl Harbor!! Rather than wait for reinforcements I just charged off to the east with what I had.

I got lucky. My vanguard subs found a 6-strength BB all alone at sea and were able to send this to the bottom. I can't recall the events exactly after that, but I was able to find, and destroy a CA and a DD? before the USN counter attack that saw three BB and one DD destroyed.

The Allies opened up.... Ouch!!

I have to pull back from western China. I notice the British are on their way too....

In Central China I destroy an army. Its all getting a bit like hard work now but I can't divert any units to this front.

off Borneo a Japanese destroyer and light cruiser are bounced by the Dutch Navy. A small force arrives to make them wish they hadn't. From what I could see, 3 or 4 CA/CL were destroyed in my counter attack, and an SNLF took Brunei.

Sure enough I lost the Italian army that was thrown away. No progress to report in the USSR or the desert.

There was a bit of a skirmish in the Baltic that a destroyer was lucky to survive. I hit back and may have destroyed a BB.

Norway joins the Axis - really?

Another disaster of a turn for the Axis... The US have invaded Algeria, the Germans can't get to Talinn, and the Japanese are on the backfoot in China. Still.... at least I took Manila eh?

The debacle continues.

The Germans take Talinn but can't clear the surrounded units and are vulnerable themselves to counter. Any pretence at advance anywhere else along the front is just that... a pretence.

In the desert my forces desperately try and fall back on Tripoli as the Allies attack Tunisia.

For Japan its simply headlong retreat in China and no gains possible anywhere else. Having the KB on the west coast of the USA got good results, but I am conscious the RN is hanging around Malaya and environs....

Now its a sandstorm that grounds Axis aircraft in Tunisia..... The American armoured corps gets away.

Sadly there is literally nothing else to report. I am about to lose an army in China.
