Turn 69
3MS sunk 1 Escort subs take 7 hits.
Something is amiss with the naval this game. Never have I done so poorly.

Cold in Russia yet again...
Some moves...

Cold April continues

Post by stjeand »

Turn 70
5MS 1esc sunk 3 sub hits.
The BOA is nearly over...with the UK have 150+ MS and the US 130...

Not much that Germany can do at this point without some really good luck.
But subs taking 50% hits compared to MS means you will lose in the end.

Russia on the other hand is not looking well for the Allies.

Yes Axis armor is worn...average about 50%
Oil is at about 50%
BUT it is still April.
Trucks arrive next turn FINALLY...

AGN
Little movement here...just setting up for the mass retreat.
The North is close to being in a supply issue.

AGC
Big breakthrough here...3 air units overrun.
All bombers I believe which is good as I need my efficiency to recover.
Moscow almost completely cut...not that is appears to matter since they will be in supply.
Good part is the Axis have a rail line to the east of there which is good for supply

The south is nearly cut also.
Though from testing you could cut off resources from all over but it does nothing. The country still gets them so really in the end...it means very little until they are captured.

Again...a rail line heading south is the key...and the Axis have one.

Sadly I am LOW on infantry to guard the rail lines...more arrive next turn and will be needed just to garrison them.

Turn 71

8MS and 1Escort sunk, 2 sub hits...decent turn.

AGN

Readying for a push to Leningrad...need to cut supply from it...so that if I can cut supply by Moscow the entire Russian Northern army will be in threat of being out of supply.

Did not complete the circle of Moscow...but came close to capturing it...
IF it gets encircled and I capture it...it will be the bulk of the Russian armor...and that could spell the end for their chances.
BUT I am set up to lose a few units this turn...sadly the effort will have a bit of a cost to it.

The Russians better be careful though...if their armor wears down they will not be able to prevent the encirclement next turn.

A clear May...

Post by stjeand »

AGS

On the outskirts of Stalingrad...and ready to capture Rostov.
There is not a great deal of quality units between Rostov and their oil...
Hopefully a few turns of attack will yield some major oil as well as threaten the Middle East.

The German armor is extremely worn at this time...BUT it is only May...so resting a few turns is more than acceptable.

Turn 72

4MS sunk no sub hits.

German high command in Berlin demands progress. They are unhappy with current progress levels, even though Eastern Front commands state they are far ahead of schedule and their troops desperately need a rest. But Berlin will not hear of it...and state if the current commanders can not get the job done then they will find someone who can.

AGN
German units attack the unit guarding the gates to Leningrad and finally push them out. Leningrad is now cut.
All the enemy troops in the area are in garrison so counter attacks are unexpected and will be easily defeated.

AGC

A mech falls prey to the Russian horde...and a panzer shatters back and is being reorganized.
Russia attacked in a direction which works out well for the Axis.
Germany throws everything they have at breaking out a surrounded unit and they do...and hope that the Russians go after it, as it will delay their escape from the coming Moscow pocket
Mass attack on Moscow breaks the army protecting it and German panzers roll through the streets.
To the east Germany breaks a unit that is guarding a critical rail juncture...and threatens a mass drive east towards the Urals. IF that drive occurs and is successful it will be a close to the war in Russia as the entire Russian army North of Moscow will be cut.
There are merely individual armies trying to stop the Germans from moving east...hopefully their reinforcements are minimal. Now need to cut the rail from north to south...wish I had last turn then no reinforcements could come. Though the only ones available are in the south where there are few.

A strike against Rostov fails to yield results so Germany rolls across the river to cut reinforcements to the city.
It appears the units to the south of the river were paper thin and panzers are able to roll through.
Rostov will hold for a couple more turns...but will not hold through June.

Turn 73

0MS sunk...0sub hits. Could be that he turned off the convoy route, though says 65...I know that messes up.
IF it was active, never seen 0 MS in a clear turn with 3 subs on the line before. But it is what it is.

The UK CV fleet is giving the Italian fleet the business. They are smashing them in port...
The Italians have retreated and brought in air support to hopefully stop the attacks.

Africa is quiet.
Norway is solidly in Allied hands.

Russia is in bad shape.

AGN

Very little movement here on the river line south of Leningrad...though the Axis push through completely cutting Leningrad off.
The Russians actually land a marine behind them, but an Italian corp with a German division make short work of them.

AGC

The push to cut the north is on...
The Axis surround a Mech blocking a key rail way and it surrenders...then units make a dash to cut the railways.
They are successfully cut...so the entire north should be in basic port supply.

(This is one of my pet peeves in the game. Two ports, one size 4 and one size 3 could never supply 50+ army / corps)

Next turn if all goes according to plan they will be out of supply...but we all know the saying best laid plans.

German units complete surround Rostov...but the pesky Russian fleet and moat that surround Rostov keep the unit safe.
A few more air units are moved in to assist next turn.
Not sure if I should sink the fleet or hit the unit in Rostov...we shall see...not rush IF we are successful in cutting the north.
BUT if Rostov falls...there are very few corps between the Axis and the oil fields.

Turn 74

7MS sunk 4 sub hits...

AGN
Little to nothing happens here other than moving a bit and getting some rest.

AGC

As luck would have it...a partisan cut the rail to multiple units are out of supply...I was able to cut the rail line but not sure it will hold...
Russians can't get units to uncut it at least due to movement limitations.

Surround Rostov and get some much needed rest.
Decide to hit the navy this turn cripple the DD and wound a CA...but they are still giving bombardment protection.
Rail in a shinny new panzer to hopefully break the port defenses down in the next two turns...
Need a little time to drive on the oil fields.

Russia in a bad way

Post by stjeand »

Turn 75
2MS sunk 2 sub hits...really weird. First game I have ever see 3 subs sitting on a convoy not sink anything in clear weather.

AGN
Leningrad is cut...looks to have no supply...now just to wait the unit out...
Panzers roll by and cut behind the northern force that is already cut off from supply.

AGC north...

Sweeping around the northern-most units to keep the supply lines choked off..
No really attacks as the panzers gather strength and the rail lines move forward.

AGC south

Small moves east...decide to cut off Stalingrad from supply or at least start.
Should still be in supply but more units around it should be out.

The Rostov army...cut off and with naval bombardment fights valiantly...but gives into the pressure. Surrounded on all sides against 3 armored corps it surrenders. The gateway to the south opens.

A few units poor through helping to try to cut off the few units in the area. No units are near Baku or Grozny...will have to place builds or rail back weak units that are trying to keep the rail line from falling.
