I am just trying to give him some motivation to post more. The more he posts, the more opportunity to get advice, and thus the more opportunity to become a better player.

Yes - Broome and Derby are both closed and the airgroups destroyed. I managed to save parts of most of them.

Is enemy still sweeping those Bases? You know, that there will be bombers there, so you can LRCAP even from those islands north of Australia. I would throw there lots of AA. Bases are quite useless, but better to fight enemy over there, than over dozens of Bases north of Australia. Are you still planning to make an invasion further West, and take out airfields of those bombers?

Japanese CAs are the best surface combatants in this game. I don't think they will have worthy opponent around Aleutians. Move them south against future enemy invasion targets.
Also, check your CLs, some of them have dozens torpedo tubes, which they can lose after upgrade.

Inqistor - glad to see you posting - i think it had been almost 2 months since your last post. I think you're right about the CAs being the best IJN ships, i don't know much if anything about the allies ships to say. After our huge CV battle in the north i thought i should leave a bigger naval presence but now i have my land based airpower built up to the equivalent of a KB in the area i should be fine. Maybe just a DD squadron for naval power?

After our huge CV battle in the north i thought i should leave a bigger naval presence but now i have my land based airpower built up to the equivalent of a KB in the area i should be fine. Maybe just a DD squadron for naval power?
That's a tricky problem. This is technically still America's Coast, so you can expect that ships could be send directly from Shipyards to Aleutians. You never know when, even with enough recon. But if I would have to guess, I would say that they will bring at least TWO CVs there. DDs don't have enough firepower to even destroy large convoy, but you want your Long Lances to shoot at something big, not transports.

Came down to Pert to giver her another go and my sweepers met a bunch of fighters. Probably should have sent the BB TFs in first. My bad. I just want to be careful though.
Ouch, second generation. You will need something better than ZERO against Corsairs. But every destroyed P-38 is worth it.

I read in another AAR somebody (Ranger Joe?) (Mind Messing?) suggested put a little LRCAP on the bases getting pounded by heavy bombers. I started using some Oscar IIbs for that purpose and it seems to help. Almost every raid recently has about as many planes in the raid damaged as there are planes in the raid. I haven't shot any down and i'm sure that with FOW i'm not damaging all planes but it does seem to help. FWIW.

YPs are still VPs are they not? They do serve a useful function. He just found out what sub is there.

Put a low LRCAP over Chungking to help shoot down any aircraft flying low while dropping supplies.

Put a low percentage LRCAP over the base that the enemy planes are coming from to increase OPs losses. The enemy can not sweep his own base. You can not sweep your own base.

Get as many small airstrikes in and at around Chungking to burn Chinese supplies. Even if the AAA does not fire or is not even there, that is a 10% increase in supply usage for all attacked units.

As long as you are still having fun and learning, keep it up.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

Hi Kevin,

It's so nice to know that there is actually somebody else besides Ranger Joe that reads this AAR. You must really be paying attention, even more than me.[:D] I had no idea about Taney?

Musashi really tried but in the end it was the weather NW of Australia as she approached the Java Trench. Heavy rains was the report and she went from mid 80s flot to sunk quickly.

I've had bad weather off perth all game. I try to position my slow CVs off the coast but they are rarely able to fly.

Hi Joe,

i try that with Oscars over Chunking but i'm not seeing any reports showing it's working.

I'll keep up with the air attacks. Should i try them from different bases so they aren't all in one strike? Should i try to split the squadrons? Maybe send them at different altitudes? I'm still having fun for sure. And learning thanks to you.

You probably will not directly see any losses due to LRCAP but you may see an increase in OPs losses.

Different aircraft, different speeds, different altitudes, break down the units into thirds even, plus day and night. Also, make sure that some fly in the afternoon part of the day by putting their primary mission as Naval Attack with no possible naval targets within range, then set the secondary target to Chungking. Those planes should attempt a Naval attack in the am then do the attack in the pm.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

Anything past 3 hexes LRCAP to intercept supply planes is really iffy. Use drop tanks and get close.

Hi Lowpe,

Thanks for letting me know. With as many games as you have going with your beautiful AARs and tackling the abundant snow like me, i'm sure you don't have a lot of time.

I'm 4 hexes away at Kweiling for now but i'll make sure i put the drop tanks on the Oscars anyway. May be a while until i can get any airbases big enough with air support to get closer.

That's pretty interesting about the nav attack angle. Thanks. I was looking for op losses on cargo planes but didn't see much. I wish i had know how important Ledo was. perhaps i could have made a better effort to capture it. Instead of my ineffective invasion of eastern australia.
