Talking about paras without chutes, I heard a story about the Gurkhas once:

A British officer came to visit a Gurkha battalion in India during WWII, looking for volunteers for a special unit to jump behind enemy lines. He explained how the troops would be jumping out of their transport planes from 500 feet, and then asked for any volunteers to step forward, confident that he'd get a lot of them. Surprisingly, not a single man stepped forward.

Turning to the Gurkha Sergeant Major, the officer asked why, to which the Sergeant replied that 500 feet was a bit high to jump from. The officer said, "but if we let you jump from a lower altitude, your parachutes won't have time to open", and the Sergeant responded, "Ah! You didn't say anything about parachutes!"

The officer got his volunteers.

BTW, i wouldn't hang around waiting for your pizza... Speedy's SAS squad might be still lurking about! [:'(]

Nah, his weenie SAS boys have long since given up the ghost; I suspect it has something to do with the massacre of the first 100 or so of them...

A while back, someone posted some stuff about stupid criminals. i thought this one fit in pretty well - asked the bank people how it should be done, and then stabbed himself.

Whole article:

Idiots everywhere... If it'd been in the States, he'd have blown his own ****s off with a gun, but they don't have guns in Japan.

T - 58...

Actually had this happen. In 1991 my partner and I arrested a guy that was hanging out in front of a pizza joint after we noticed a bulge in his waist band that turned out to be a gun.

He didn't show up in court the next week (unless you kill someone in NJ you can make bail) and we found out that he had obtained another gun and cut the trigger guard off to make it easier to conceal. He went into a local Stop and Rob, brandished the gun, and took the money. As he left he tried to put the gun back in his waist band the trigger got caught. One of his you know whats and part of his manhood got blown off. [X(]

He is now doing 10-20 and won't be able to pass on his stupid genes.

The Gurkhas probably had been hearing about the Russian airborne troops... [:D] [:'(]

Rupd, I hadn't realized you used to be a police officer. You work for the govt now right?

I don't know why we need IQ tests in society. If you want to know who the dumb ones are just look at who's committing the crimes. Very few geniuses in that lot.

Depends on what you put on your pizza. What do you put on your pizza Nik? [;)]

Edit: the irony of this statement coming from a man in a bunny costume just hit me. [:'(]

i don't think its that smart people don't commit crimes - i think it's because they don't get caught that often. It's the dumb ones that end up in prisons.

The smart one generally end up as politicians or contractors. [8|] [:'(]

Interesting observation Robert. Ever notice how often the two are in cahoots.

We had a big scandal in Denver not so long ago, in one of our suburbs actually. Turns out the city's board of directors, that actually run the city, had 3 of its 5 members in a partnership in a big real estate development firm. The board would direct the rezoning of land for development and somehow the real esate developers always ended up owning the land. I think one of the board memebers actualy ended up doing time and the others were simply forced to resign.
