SUBJECT: SIAN OFFENSIVE STARTS
DATE: MAY 23RD, 1942
Today we started our offensive against enemy chineses bandits fortified 40 milles southeast of Sian city. Our forces were ordered to reach enemy positions at throw out from their trenches. With the support of several tank regiment I hope a great success against enemy forces heavily bombed by air and ground Hvy artillery from one month ago, but our forces were heavily mauled by a very fortified enemy.
At morning 64 IJA level bobmbers escorted by 9 Ki-27 bombed 93rd Chinese Corps repoting 26 casualties.
In a second wave 20 IJA level bombers strike 27th Chinese Corps.
The ground offensive punished us heavily with 22.774 casualties (144 IJA Squads destroyed) vs. 6.377 chinese casualties (58 chinese squads destroyed).
The planned offensive will be halted at once to take reemplacements as soon as possible and soft enemy by air and artillery fire for more time and await any reinforcements would be sent by this IGHQ as quickly as possible. Two divisions will be wellcomed if they will be available thinking that this offensive is our main target for this summer.
