In this case, and given their level of integration, I think the better option would be to allow the USA the same ability to control minors as the UK gets. At least in Brazil's case. In the WiE game that would be the only minor the USA gets. Unsure if they get any additional minors in the WaW version.

Concur with Taxman here. US minors should be able to have their units managed by US Hqs...like the UK and their minors. Btw..we do like that German minors can not be controlled by German Hqs. There were major political reasons why this was so, mainly for the Minors political situation, even to the consternation of AGS, where the Romanians and Hungarians operated.Taxman66 wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 11:55 pm In this case, and given their level of integration, I think the better option would be to allow the USA the same ability to control minors as the UK gets. One thing...the Slovaks need an Hq or better should be allowed to be attached to a German Hq. Just not Finns, Hungarians, Romanians, and Bulgarians.
One final question. Taxman and I need to know the Victory conditions and end date for TRP-WiE. One of the vanilla campaign scenarios ends in 1947, the other 1945.
The Victory Conditions can shade how we conduct ourselves mid war and on, particularly Germany.

Hi guys - playing 1.3 and I concur it is too easy for Germany to knock out Malta. It is pretty much guaranteed if the Axis commits their air assets and RN can't do a thing about it. I have done it PvP by August and twice vs AI and even earlier.
You discussed how to counter or make it harder, any update?

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.3 Download)
Not much more tougher you can make that hex intrinsically.
I did see in the forthcoming 1.4 version (on Discord for testing see previous post) that Malta will be granted Land spotting 3 and Sea spotting 7.
This will make it easier for the UK to deal with. While it won't prevent the fleet from getting pounded by the Luftwaffe it will make it a lot easier to swap out the AA when it gets banged up (mostly so the morale damage), for a fresh one and will require more emphasis on blockading or damaging the ports.
This will also play into the changes to naval ZOC he has planned as well. The spotting vision granted by Malta means that the RM will be much more vulnerable if they want to try and prevent unit swaps.
It should be interesting, as if I recall my history there actually were harrying supply runs into Malta during the war.

I have some other major changes coming into 1.4 that I got from my MP game. I noticed AT (NOT SP-AT) was way to powerful on the attack against tanks. Also made some changes to prepared attack etc... just a small portion of the list below. Pre-pared attack is now limited to mech and armor units. It was getting annoying seeing front lines with a space between both sides because of the pre-pared attack bonus. This should make it so you have a front line of units now. It should also slow the Germans down a little in Barbarrossa.
- (New) Yugoslavia Coup changed, will only fire if Greece is Neutral or part of the Allies
- (New) Yugoslavia will join the Axis if Berlin, Rome, Budapest, Bucharest, Sofia and Athens are Axis controlled
- (New) Turkey will join the Axis if Berlin, Budapest, Bucharest, Sofia, Athens and the border towns with the USSR (Batumi, Ardahan, Leninakan) are Axis controlled
- (New) Armor base defense against other Armor increased by 1 point
- (New) AT Lowered starting attack value against armor from 4 to 3
- (New) Prepared Attack Bonus removed for all units except for Mechanized and Armor (set to 20%)
@SIPRES
On the new NATO Counters, I noticed that the minors Special Forces unit was made into a marine unit. It should say something like SF and not marine. It looks weird that the Fins have one of these units and it has the marine symbol.

Lothos,
I worry about that Yugo joining the Axis condition
I fear it will lead to Axis players always launching early attacks on Greece by Germany via Albania and amphib/para assault well before the coup would fire.

That doesn't help.
The Coup fires in February/March of 1941. France falls summer of 1940...
That's the whole fall of 1940 to go grab it, it's easy to do.
Why have this in the first place?
For the record, I don't mind the Turkey joining the Axis as much but would much rather see a large diplomatic Axis swing instead.

Well their is some historical basis for it and the UK can help defend Greece if they so choose to. It is not as easy a cake walk as you think if the UK goes to help defend them.Taxman66 wrote: Thu Sep 21, 2023 12:13 am That doesn't help.

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.3 Download)
There are several ways to do it.
1) The easiest way is just bop the ports in the south to prevent reinforcements from arriving (or if they stop in the port they can get nuked by air power).
2) Load an Elite GE and Elite IT INF on Amphibs and cut off/hit Athens on the turn war is declared.
3) Let UK send units there, and then just flat out kill them. A couple GE Tanks and the Luftwaffe will roll over anything the UK can afford to send.

But to do all of that the Axis has to wait first to Italy is in the war and then transport all the troops to Albania to do it.Taxman66 wrote: Thu Sep 21, 2023 12:34 am There are several ways to do it.

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.3 Download)
Am I missing something?
The Coup normally fires in February or March of 1941
Italy joins the war shortly after the assault on France (Say April 1940)
France typically falls sometime in the Summer (Say July 1940)
That gives the Axis from August 1940 - January 1941 to take out Greece and get Yugo for free.
They don't have to wait for the Italian DE to attack Greece in October 1940.

Another concern I have is about modifying the prepared attack:
I worry about it bringing back the situation of INF units being Anvils banging against each other and being nothing more than an MPP cost to reduce entrenchment.

Re: TRP - Total Realism Project for War in Europe (1.3 Download)
Lothos your response appears to me that you didn't read what I wrote.
My concern is that the change will go back to the case of INF/MOT and even Elite INF of being nothing but Anvils like in previous versions.
There really is nothing wrong with a hex gap in the lines when both sides are afraid of the other's counter attacks. That's what ZOC's represent is that lines were often not right on top of each other like they were in WW 1 on the western front.
---------------------------
Also you didn't address the Yugo point (That unless I missed something, there is plenty of time for the Axis take Greece out and Yugo for free)

Those front gaps are more because if you move forward you lose your entrenchment bonuses. I see no issue with how it is: if you yourself want the preparation bonus then risk moving forward and getting counterattacked before you can unleash your own attacks. If you plan to keep that part of the front quiet then there's no need to move forward to begin with.

Agree with you and Taxman here regarding these so called gaps. (I don't want to give spoilers of my campaign with Taxman, but after the initial Barbarossa advances and envelopments are over over, we have front lines that reach from the Gulf of Finland to the Sea of Azov. If I have to, I'll provide screenshots). Gaps between the front lines are common, but only one hex wide in most cases. Other places folks are pressed against each other.Elessar2 wrote: Thu Sep 21, 2023 1:41 am Those front gaps are more because if you move forward you lose your entrenchment bonuses. The thing to consider here is that units with a 'Hard ZoC' have a footprint that extends out around the unit. Those hard ZoC'S ARE that particular unit's footprint. My 3 cents anyways.

If you wish and if only Finland Axis minor use the special forces slot then I can customize this particular unit with a Utti Jaeger rgt symbol?
I can also do same for UK as Commando, US as Rangers/SSF ect...
Just tell me what you would like and I think I can update the files in a few days
