flak fire is still extremely intense even though the enemy has no supply source anymore... wonder how long it will take until the AA guns run out of ammo... the old odd story that makes flak three times deadlier when you attack ground units instead of bases... never been fixed or even looked at...

I suspect not fixed as the devs don't think it an error. I agree with them.

when units are "at a base" they are still spread out over 1600mi of area (40x40 right?). so, your AC are going for a specific portion, and a very small one at that, when on AF or Port attack. Most of the units will never be in range to repel the attack. When you attack units, you are centering yourself on them, so naturally, they fire back with far more intensity.

At least, this is how I have always looked at it ...

there are 500k troops in a 40x40mile hex, my bombers attack the divsion on the far West, ALL AA guns in the hex fire on my bombers (they all use supply so they fire) and the intensity is x times higher than when attacking a base in the same hex. Sorry, I don't get your logic because it's not the "unit" that is firing back, it's the whole f*cking AA in the 40x40 mile hex

and you know that all of the AA is firing, how?

Or better to say you know that it is all firing at you with a chance to hit?

I know because I have looked at my flak units ten years ago already when this issue became obvious?

You guys are abstracting so much more stuff into the game that isn't there I always wonder.

Finally the Allies protect their ships with decent CAP...

Can you post a pic of starting base (plus perhaps the units) of the strike ?
Weather, AF size, IJN or IJA escorts, plane fatigue, distance to fly..etc..??

Also is he trying in a desperate move to cut you off over the swampy hex [&:] Can he even fly in supply at all (airdrop I mean)- where is the next bigger AF from him?

Well, I would make a line completely around those units that left Diamond Harbor so no supply at all could reach them until they breach the line. But then, there would be another line behind that one by then. [:D]

Keep bombing them targets as well, as many different times during the day. Both AM and PM phases, keep the supply burning.

BTW, have you tried torpedo bombers flying at 100 feet? instead of the dive bombers?
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

sorry, not worth the effort. All was totally fine, just some honky tonky idiocy once more. Level 8 airfield, no fat, all settings ok, 99 morale, even all that stuff like same alt and so on. The fighters didn't take off. Been there gazillion of times just like the forum is full of it.

He can't fly in supply, Ceylon is something like 26 or 27 hexes away and even if he could fly in some supplies, he's got 500,000 men there and we know how it worked out with the Luftwaffe and Stalingrad where they couldn't supply the 6th Army.

There's no supply line for him, all bases are mine, all raillines are cut. Currently he has no chance to draw supply from India's West Coast, that's some 1500 miles away.

Well that is a bit odd then, I had this not happen often tbh. But I noted with a recent strike I flew from KB to Brisbane (in July 43 a bit risky) that one Zero unit set to escort did not fly. The others did. I of course have typical luck with weather, target had storm and over KB "heavy overcast" so I assumed one of the Zero and also one of the Jill units did not take part in the strike due to these adverse weather conditions. I also chickened out for fear of Flak and set bombers at 16k. There was not much Flak tho I could have used 9k for example. Not hit much [:@] But some bombers hit the city instead the port like ordered, also due to weather probably.

I guess Russian winter and Luftwaffe not prepared/not enough planes is a bit different to the mighty Allied transport fleet in 44...but if no airfield in range it does not matter then...

sure the Luftwaffe in Winter isn't comparable to what the Allied have in early 44 but even those couldn't supply an Army of 500k men even if they had an airfield in range for their DC-3. Guess what my fighters would do to the transports if he had an airfield in range. He would have first to wear down my full fighter force and knock out all supporting airfields in the area and around Calcutta it would be the worst place to do this for him.

Supplying the Allied Army by air would be at best a drop of the needed supply, the only chance they had were supplies coming over sea but that has become impossible due to the IJN and IJNAF controlling the Bay of Bengal. Mundy knows that and started to break out of Gallipoli, ehm Diamond Harbour.

enemy heavy bombers attack a railroad junction in India again, this time an elite squadron of Georges were waiting for them... I expected a dozen 4Es shot down but the result over the course of the day is totally disappointing as it was nothing but "George driven off due to gunfire" during the whole combat report... in the end we lose 2 Georges for 2 bombers shot down, what a pityful result as we also lost both elite pilots... with 4x20mm cannons the George should be my best bomber intercepter to date...

Near Jessore, you also hurt his artillery pretty good as well. I don't think that those disabled guns will repair either.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

yes, he won't recover anything that get's disabled, enemy is already losing about 25 pts for ground losses each turn even without combat, means he's losing stuff of his Army near Jessore

surprise, surprise... the enemy gets another 15 units to enter the hex today... enemy still doesn't get a (-) for supply and we fail to even achieve a 1:1... we can recover the disabled squads though, the enemy shouldn't be able to do that...

Well look on the bright side the Tank division's has slowed down the enemy army and used what's left of the precious supplies that the trapped Allied forces have left.

The dice roll was not good but it's still a "winning" battle.

For some reason the coordination in the IJA and IJN air forces in India has been beyond miserable compared to the stellar performance showed in the Marshall Islands recently.

You should ban sake all together for those pilots in India, maybe that will get them to actually be more useful.

And maybe punish the fighter pilots to sweep positions whenever they refuse to fly their plane for escort missions from the previous day.

(Of course don't overdo the punishment we still need those "Highly professionally trained" fighter pilot pools for when the Russians and B-29 arrive, also not helped by the mod reducing the number of pilots, but it's more of a navy problem than Army).

The Australians and Indians are meanwhile involuntarily becoming free EXP for the IJA tank regiments.

On a sidenote CT are you finally going to pass me the information I asked a week ago of what your tank units are composed of when you click on the unit and screenshot it.

Still want to see what a 1944 MAX upgraded IJA tank division is composed of in Witp.

On to another question are you rushing the No.101-class landing ships? (The only LST type ships the Japanese get in the war(I think)), Those ships will be very useful in sending in vehicle reinforcements or evacuating them around the world and I love their design and look.
