i used to watch music videos back in the Dark Ages. Then over a period of (it seems) about 1 year, they all turned to dreck... it seems the producers realized they could make more money just by shooting lots of video of the band in concert and splicing stuff together rather than shooting a video that had to do with the song. Gresham's law being what it is, and Sturgeon's Law also asserting itself with a vengeance, i found one day that it wasn't 90% of the stuff on MTV being bad, but about 99.999%... Any attempts to watch new stuff since then has seen MTV filled up with junky game shows/reality shows, or self-congratulatory awards shows.

BTW - someone was commenting on how the MTV awards shows were hyper-bogus with the award categories changing at random from year to year (depending on who they decided to award something to, they would make up new categories only to have the category vanish the next year). Other things that were specious: no one new what any of the awards categories were, and the candidates for awards had no idea who they were up against. Some reporter showed up in a suit, and he was by far the best-dressed person there as most everyone else seemed to be wearing jeans and t-shirts... [X(] [:'(]
