OHIO NATIONAL GUARD REVAMPS UNIFORMS

Dayton June 13 7:00 a.m.

In a surprise move today, the Ohio National Guard announced they were revamping their uniforms "in an effort to improve morale, improve recruitment, and to bring the latest in body armor to our troops to improve their safety in possible combat situations".

Major Mike Solli made the announcement just prior to the upcoming ORIGINS gaming conference. Pundits have criticized the move as "a blatant attempt to attract recruits from the rabid gaming community", while others have said the new uniforms "bring a new sense of style and elan to the troops".

Major Solli said the idea for the uniforms, code named URQUIEL, came from "a prolonged conference with a new army Sergeant at the VFW". The meaning of the code name was not immediately apparent.

DANISH SCHOOL CHILDREN BEAT OFF ATTACK BY STRANGE PENGUINS

AP – Copenhagen June 13, 2006 12:10 p.m.

Danish schoolchildren armed with cap guns and toy walkie-talkies managed to beat off an attack at their school by hordes of confused penguins.

The penguins (apparently of the Emperor species made familiar in recent nature movies) were wearing bedraggled WW2-style Japanese uniforms. The origin and purpose (if any) of the penguins were not immediately apparent, and the confusion was increased because few of the penguins could speak or understand Danish. A few bystanders on the scene that could understand English claimed the penguins made squawks that sounded like “Milo” and “Fear and Loathing”.

The penguins were repulsed by the doughty gradeschoolers without loss to themselves. The birds were last seen swimming furiously out to sea, apparently in pursuit of a leader penguin in a tight-fitting Japanese Field Marshall’s uniform. Witnesses claim the penguins were last seen swimming towards the English coast.

Any reply to this should be at Fear and Loathing, I think, but I would like to point out that penguins have an inbuilt fear of Danes

Praise the Thread BTW

DEMENTED DRAFTSMAN DIVULGES DERANGED DESIGN

AP Seattle, WA June 13, 2006 7:00 a.m.

The aeronautical world was shocked today by a new aircraft design revealed today by a beefy Seattle resident who would only give his name as “Nik”.

The new airplane is said to have a new flexible fuselage to allow easier parking in hangers. The construction material of the dubious airplane is said to be “Log”.

When reporters asked “Nik” about the inspiration for the design, he said the inspiration had struck him “during the act of punting”, but refused to elaborate. Several observers claimed they saw parallel marks on his arms resembling cat scratches which brought to mind the peculiar design of the airplane.

An FAA spokesman declined official comment after seeing the prototype, but was seen shaking his head sadly as he departed the hanger.

Image

Proponents of this design beleive that it will greatly reduce the effect of flak...

A fairly reasonable prediction, as flak is somewhat ineffective against planes on the ground....and that one will always be on the ground. [:D]

Looks like worst of the storm is over for central Florida tithe. Boy this place sure has greened up in the last 24 hours. Now I'm going to have to mow the lawn on Thursday.
