Actually,

Good news...good news. Thank you.

Glad to hear about the Third World Mod. Any details yet? I am doing the Sandinista Revolution. Is this being done...would you be interested in anything I come up with? I am adapting some artwork and this stuff was my major in college. Maybe I can subcontract for you...only a thought.

One last question and I will try to back off on this and see what happens. My mod will operate at a different scale, and I need leader units that can fire. Could these be made and would the request be received afavorably.

Thanks for your very timely response. You have eased many of my initial concerns and I am grateful to you for that.

Just a quick update.

I received the revised Manual yesterday to correct/clarify a few issues. This was done and returned to Matrix again last night. Hopefully we're in the home stretch with getting the 1.03 UPDATE out the door.

As always ... appreciate the work done!! [:)]

At this point the Third World addition will be focusing on Africa, but if you wish, you can email me a list of items that would make your life easier and I would be happy to see them included, if not in whole, at least in part.

Keep in mind, this particular project is third on the "big" hitlist to complete. While it is coming, there is still a ways to go before completion.

Jason,

I understand the cavaet on when the mod is coming. It sounds extremely interesting. I am concentrating on Central and South America. The Sandinista Revolution will be the first. I will email you a list, as per your suggestion. When I do, I shall try to offer some rationale for what I am asking for, so you will see that it isn't just caprice on my part. I am shooting for a smaller scale, in which the individual leader (and the implicit combat team about him) would play an enormous role. Eventually I would like to mod/model Che in Bolivia and - this is going back a bit - Villa and Zapata in Mexico. In the last instance we could turn some of that lovely railroad rolling stock you've made into missiles, just as Panchp Villa did from 1911-1917!

Early on, I was greatly concerned about provisions being made for modders. It seems to me that there appear to be good provisions being made and perhaps there is no reason we all can't be happy.

One more thing - what timeline are you looking at in this mod? I have a few ideas -nothing I'm married to-that you might find useful or amusing. I'll pass them on.

Thank you for your time and courteous response.

Best guess: late 2010 - early 2011. Seems far off, but it's really not behind the scenes, time is just flying!

My apologies, Jason, I meant timeline within the mod - what years - earlier post colonial struggles, Angola, South Africa v Rhodedesia...not when you will get done, though I do appreciate the information. You guys are going to have a lot of work, but I'm sure you'll be great. My Latin American thing will be roughly 1954-1986 - everything from Guatemala and Operation PBSuccess, through Che in Bolivia, Nicaragua, and the interminable wars in El Salvador.

Sorry..I am not always as clear as I should be!

Gracias.

Ah. My misunderstanding. Specific dates, I am unsure, but I understand it will be rather comprehensive. 46-85? As time passes, I'll have more information.

Sorry Jason
I still didn't get the catch : if I want to create some unit, say the new PzVII tank [;)], I can do it (in the data file), but not use/play it ? And I have to request that *you* encrypt it to have an usable file ?? How are we supposed to manage mods this way, it's ... prehistoric ! [:@]
Why not just make an official, untouchable, 256-bit encrypted [:'(] data file for use in secure pbem, and let ppl do what they want with their data/mods, but pbem-forbidden (or knowing that it's not secure) ? Is that really hard (it's not like it was a new idea...) ?
And beware of your "secret encryptor", I'm inclined to think it'll be broken in no time and you'll be back to start line again.

You'll be happy to know the PzVII is included with 1.03.

Additionally, there will be a wishlist for new units that will be taken under consideration for future UPDATES.

Quick question, and I think it was already answered, but I did not really understand the answer fully,
I am working on building a *giant*scenario, to be part of a *giant*campaign.. will the 1.03 update changes affect the work I have already done with oob, map, objectives, etc? In other words, should I just *freeze* until it comes out, or can I receive the good points of the update (which sounds great btw) and still keep all the work I have done already?
Thanks in advance for the answer

If you wish to use some of the new features (some of the engineer features, for example) you will have to add the new units to your org file, and then add the new units to the scenario file.

Other than the features that require new units, everything else should work within your scenario.

Whenever it comes out, it will cause for much rejoicing.

Jason,

In all the hubbub regarding other issues, I barely caught this variable visibility thing. Has the day turns/night turns fantasy come true at last, or am I getting ahead of the game here.

Sincerely,

Ladmo

There are two elements to varying visibility.

1. Each turn the visibility can change up or down by 1 hex (or stay the same).

2. In the scenario editor, there is the ability to start a night scenario and part way through it will change to day... or... start with a day scenario and part way through it will change to night. I believe the turning point is a percentage chance after turn 6.

The ability to go from day to night to day is NOT available at the moment.

Hallo Ladmo
In JTCS meets PG3D we can change our turns to day and night and 2 twightlightturns Sunrise and Sunset. This makeour Multiplayerscenarios more excitingly. In dayturns the view is 5 = 5km, in nightturns 1=1km, in twightlightturns 3=3km. Special weathersituations (Historically in our Scenarios)Rain is 2-4km and Fog 1-3km. In sommer we have 8 day-, 2 twightligh-and 2 nightturns, in winter 7 day-, 2 twightligh-and 3 nightturns.

In our pbem-Games we change this in our BTE-file in row 17 (0 0 0) The first is 0=day/1=night. The views we can change in row 11 last number (0 0 0 0 5).
