65,000 troops and 600 "guns" on Midway Atoll?  I wonder if they would fit on those two little strips of sand even if they were lined up in Greek-style phalanxes and the rear ranks were still waist deep in the water?   At least AE will give us some relief from this kind of sillyness.

Greetings,

It has been established that stacking limits shall be considered

Per Island Hex = 50,000

Per Atoll Hex = 20,000

In reality, these are the numbers of troops present on Midway

30164 troops, 431 guns

Strategic Analysis ~ Allied Fleet Capabilities

As of present, the naval power of the allies is concentrated in the large naval task force comprising all six carriers of the US pacific fleet and the two auxillary surface combat groups each comprising four battleships each.

The composition of these is as follows ~

Task Force 72 ~ (Fighter/Dive-Bomber/Torpedo)

CV Enterprise (60/18/15) CV Lexington (60/18/15) CV Yorktown (60/18/15)
CV Hornet (60/18/15) CV Saratoga (60/18/15) CV Wasp (30 / 30/ 12)

330 x F4F-4
120 x SBD
87 x TBF

Total Aircraft: 537

BB North Carolina

CA Salt Lake City/CA Pensacola

CLAA Atlanta/ CLAA Juneau / CLAA San Diego /CLAA San Juan

12 x DD

The task force is defended by 156 torpedoes, 88 depth charge launchers,
and 11,500 units of Anti-Aircraft Artillery.

The Surface units are each composed of four battleships, each led by a Colorado Class battleship equipped with a 16" main battery and three battleships each equipped with a 14" main battery. In addition, two heavy cruisers of the New Orleans class and two light cruisers of the Brooklyn class have been attached. These two forces are protected with twelve destroyers each.

It would appear that such a force is capable of dealing with the remaining enemy carrier threat, however any engagement within the space of enemy land-based aircover should be preceded by a sustained aerial and naval bombardment campaign.
