Off into the desert I go and it wasn't necessary for most of the troops. The 3 BFs I had stayed here for end up one hex to SW and will need to retreat south to try to get across the dessert via the trails. Upon reflection, the ONLY unit that I should have not left here was the 4th Div. Slaps self in head in disgust!!

West of Charleville - 56 Recon shock attacks and destroys the C/D CD unit on 5th;

South Pacific:
Tanna - 9 Zero are on CAP on 7th when 4 waves of 36 B-17s come in at 11k to hit the AF. They destroy 2 Zero for one of their own and barely can hit the AF runway.

Notes:
A large attack on the just built size 1 AF at Bourke is planned for next day with most of my Australian air force.

Lots of 6/42 upgrades happening at major ports.

A screenshot of the "Quite War" which is the India/Burma front. I will be spending lots of PPs for the rest of 42 here to get an army form able to go back after the monsoon season ends. I get one more American division as reinforcements along with two at present that may need PP to be bought out. The question is where to attack?? From Ledo south to open path to China, down from Imphal to capture Katha and head for clear terrain, or along the coast (I still control Cox's Bazar and Akyab).

11. Burma/NE India Monsoon Rules
Offensive operations in jungle and mountain hexes on the Burmese front should be stopped from May 15th to October 15th for the Monsoon Season, allowing R&R, unit rotations, and give both players on the front a much less bloody (and much more interesting) experience. This would mean:
1. No deliberate or shock attack in the jungle hexes in the designated area
2. Deliberate Attacks allowed in non-Jungle Terrain
3. Bombardment attacks are still allowed anywhere
4. Movement into friendly or empty hexes is still allowed
5. The number of aircraft allowed to fly from a base is reflected in its size x10 (Sz-5 mean 50% can fly. The others may rest/train.
6. No offensive carrier operations in the Gulf of Bengal against Burma (other naval ops, including bombardment, are still allowed). Striking Bengal, Northern India or Malaya from carriers in the Gulf is still allowed, of course.

Hexes would be corresponding to everything above the "Thailand" label within Burmese and Thailandese borders + the few jungle hexes going 3 or 4 hexes into "India" (Kohima, Ledo, Imphal area)

Here is the situation around Kalgoorlie as of 10th. The 4th Aussie Div is in bad shape, but I hope the walk across the desert only makes them stronger. [:D] I have 135 squads in the pool, but also need to upgrade the 2nd and 5th Div and fill out. The 55 squads a month don't last long.

Sydney - a SC TF ends up just off this base headed SW. Why??

South Pacific:
Wellington - transports head east for the long trip back to San Fran. CV TFs and a single SC TF (since I played John 3rd in a G'canal game just after AE came out, I try to have a SC TF lead my CVs as I lost or had severely damaged a few to his aggressive use of his BBs getting into my carriers and blowing by the CAs) are reorganized (add some DDs). The CVs are ordered out to NW, but many TF have max out on 1000 op points.

Notes:
2 old Vindicator groups (18 planes each) make the trip from Vava'u to Aukland. They will make the final transfer to Australia next turn. Got to love their range. [;)]

40 B-17s, 16 LB-30s, 50 P-39s, and 75 P-40s are moved into Melbourne. The 4e bombers are set at 11k and Naval Attack with 10% search. I have the empty transport from dropping off the 6th Aussie Div at Adelaide set to Full Speed to get close enough to LRCAP. They should be beyond Kates deadly torpedo range. However, I had moved my Air HQs inland and none are here.

Allied CVs are ordered out from Aukland. I hope to be within 30 hexes after next turn (doubtful) or the turn afterwards to fly my SBDs (transfer range 30) off.

I was surprised to see Mini-KB show up (see screenshot). They just bounced off the armor as I had only 1 system point of damage between both BBs. I will move almost 200 fighters to this base next turn. I think Nick will try to combine both CV TFs to go after the three old "R" Class BBs here. They may sink, but I intend to extract a huge price in planes and quality pilots. They came with 6th Aus Div and were to be used for the cancelled invasion of Geraldton.

The ships sunk at Melbourne were small and not significant. I had already moved to NZ anything worth saving. The Allies are having success in southern Australia due to bringing superior number of fighters to each of the A2A battles for the last few week. When I get 1:1 or less, the Allies lose out.

What are the key things to get this to happen??
I just had my medium bombers from Adelaide (distance 7 hexes) go in alone ONE hex east of Broken Hill and NONE of the four P-40 groups stationed there flew as Escorts. [:@][&:]

Not that I can tell. Nor has any Intel Reports shown any moved there. If anywhere, I would suspect them headed for Burma. It will be some time, but once supplies flow into China, he will be in trouble.

After what happened to me at Newcastle, I've planned a little "Shock & Awe" for Nick in the next few days. Moonlight is going back up and is at 42%. I will combine the 90 plus 4e bombers at Sydney and some of my 2e bombers at Newcastle to hit the port and AF at Brisbane at night. I will also hit Mandalay and Rangoon with B-17D (can get from Calcutta to Rangoon as normal range) and Blenheim IVs. I will introduce him to my P-38s and Hurricanes from Imphal.
