Some of us older folks are full of surprises. I even know how to turn on and off the computer. It's all the stuff in between that's been baffling.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Hey, Lecivius, you're what we historians like to call "a primary source."  Come on, dude, tell us more about the Mayaguez and what you saw and did!

Man: I SECOND that!

So if my math does not fail me you were born in 1941 ?

Umm...epic math fail. [:'(]

I don't know how ze Germans count, but for someone to be 74 in the year 2013, they were born in 1939.

Would being born on September 1 still make him king of the forum? Or would that have to be the WiTE forum? [;)]
Aaaaw how embarrassing. Weeeeell He would be the king on any WW2 game in that case.

That's not embarrassing, especially at your age [;)] I can relate, last week, walking through the Ruth's Chris Steak House all gussied up, with toilet paper stuck to my heel......good times! If I wasn't my age, I would have been horrified, but at my age I was like "Meh, at least I didn't have crap running down my leg."
I'd rather be lucky than good.

I'm in my fourties as well, but a girl aged 4 (about to turn 5) and a boy aged 2 (about to turn 3) make me actually feel younger. Finally, I can browse toy catalogues again and revive my hole digging experience from my time in the army in their sandbox.

Cannonfodder, if you have 8 hours of sleep per night, you should seriously consider ending your break. 5-6 hours is enough, so why not spend the time on something as interesting as a PBEM?

I voted for Jimmy Carter. That is all you need to know....
I could have. But I voted for Ford.
My first presidential vote was Reagan, but I do remember Nixon resigning...

I remember as a kid going uptown to the local Republican headquarters and picking up buttons that said "I'm for Ike".

I was around when Kennedy was assassinated, but too young to know it.  I do recall the news that Eisenhower had died (I was in elementary school and my mother told us when we got in the car).  I remember the Bobby Kennedy and Martin L. King assassinations.  I remember when Nixon resigned, when the US evacuated Saigon, the Mayaguez affair, and the Chinese invasion of Vietnam.  I missed the draft.  I was a freshman at the University of Georgia when the US embassy at Tehran was taken.  I recall people marching up Lumpkin Street in protest - "Nuke them 'til they glow."  I don't think I voted in the Carter/Reagan election, but I did cast a ballot in the Reagan/Mondale election....I wrote in my vote for Florida governor Ruben Askew.  He was a good ol' southern democrat and I had gone to high school with his daughter, who was lovely, nice, and had an entrancing southern accent.  That's good enough, right?
I hiked into town to watch the Nixon/Kennedy debate on the only TV in the county able to get it. It was in the front window of the Rx and the owner (Don?) had turned it around so everyone could watch. There was maybe 20-30 of us standing outside. It was snowing (light snow) and cold that evening. Couldn't hear and the reception was lousy. But it was something that you just had to see if you could.

Nixon lost that debate simply because Jack looked tan, rested, and ready. Love how people who listened to it said Nixon won hands-down but those who watched it were amazed at JFK. GREAT STORY!

That's the story that everyone repeats, but I'm convinced it was actually because chicks really dug him.

Yep, for a little while anyway!

Or, to put it another way, I voted for Nixon by absentee ballot in Sixth Fleet!

And, I will have received my first war game 50 years ago come Aug. 6.

Do you really know why my PC screen is black??? Please, help me

Wait. I am supposed to turn on and use the screen to play AE? I have been getting by with a grease pencil and an old National Geographic Map of the Pacific that I found in my basement. Sheesh, now you tell me....
