Probably a bit too early to retreat. Agree with seeing what he lands at Vizagapatnam...Of course do cycle out the badly disrupted units for fresh units as available...But if you can hold him for a while you will only get stronger as new units get swapped in. And he has been taking some nasty disruption.

What would I do? Hard to say. I'd wait one day to see what forces he lands at Vizagapatnam.
IJA divs: where are the 2nd, 4th & 21st? He also has 2 1/2 divs in Luzon. What else can he muster?

Intel shows the 4 ID still on Java. The 21st is in Burma and just took Magwe. His invasion TFs were off Vizagapatnam with part of KB, but that was a decoy (or just empty transports). With RA, each of us get 60 PP/day. So, he could have another three divisions. My troops remain in Combat Mode, but they should move 15 miles per day.

The stacking limits for the base is 45k. I'm at over 44k. I think Mr Kane has vastly overstacked this base and it shows in the results. However, the forts go down to 2 before I was able to get to level 4 (I was at 87% before attack). Reinforcements are in route, if need. This base right now is the key to holding my southern MLR.

Subs: It looks like three subs are patrolling 4 hexes to west down to south of Pearl. Mr Kane probably saw my CV TFs enter port. ASW efforts have failed to hit them, yet.

Allied - At Pearl for 4/42 upgrades. Just in case Mt Kane tries something foolishly, I have the Army fighters on CAP while my USN fighters are still training up. Non-CV based fighters present is over 400.

I will need to spend my PPs for the rest of April and most of May for the 40th American ID at Cape Town, the 2x FA (155mm), and some more air groups. Then, I can focus on the rest of the map.

To those who read my AAR, I'm sorry to say that we have entered a very boring part of the war. Only limited land combat in India and China to share every few days.

I guess boring is better for the Allies than for Japan at this stage in the war, time being on your side. Great AAR, brings the campaign to life really well.

Now that you are into Apr '42 I'd be interested to hear your views as to how RA compares with stock Scen 1 / 2 in terms of gameplay and overall enjoyment having not tried the former so far.

While Scenario 2 is an enhancement of the IJA and economy, RA is an enhancement of the IJN based on scenario 1. We haven't done it yet, but one of us will take the time to convert the land OOB from stock to DBB at some point. This latest version of RA now has reduced cargo capacity which takes time to adjust to. John used some of the concepts learned from Midway IRL to make KB formed from a combination of multiple CarDiv (2 CV, CVL). I don't know how often Mr Kane has used these CarDiv together recently. He did so around the SRA/DEI with CarDiv 2.

I added some minor tweaks for the Allies, but many will not show up until later in '42 (increase in some fighter production). The old Omaha CLs are in various ports in USA being converted to CLAA. A few AVs are converting over to CVEs. I'm not converting some of the fast AOs over to CVEs. The Allies get dedicated "Training Groups" for the American Army (3), Navy (3), and Marines (2). These are close to finishing up their first graduating class. I had the recon groups for Allies come in closer to full strength and increased their production. I hate having so few groups in '43 not having enough recon planes to fly missions on multiple days due to op losses being more than production/replacement rates.

This is my first PBEM game in which India has been invaded. Like my other game vs Olorin (Nick), I've been short of having my troops protected by massive number of AA units. In India, I had a heavy AA unit (24 guns) destroyed. This hurts as Mr Kane is flying in above the ceiling of my medium AA (9000 ft) at 10 or 11k. Thankfully, 3 American AA units are on their way to Cape Town, but they will not be in India for close to two months.

Another lesson of not fighting in clear terrain at this stage of the game. I saw the increase in the number of LCUs a few turns ago, but couldn't get back into better terrain fast enough. Mr Kane has had recon flights covering this cut off section of India for some time. Three of his best divisions are down here now to wipe these troops out.

Southern China - The screenshot shows the battle area for the last few weeks and what will continue to be for the foreseeable future. A brief recap from north to south will follow.

Changsha - This base has forts at 5 and has troops all above 50 experience. She will hold.

Due south I have brought in another Corp and a Cav Corp as Mr Kane had moved troops out of Pingsiang and headed for here. He has not attacked here yet.

Pingsiang - This little dot base is close to her stacking limit of 45k. It was very close to getting forts to 4 a while back, but now gets them up to 2 before being knocked back down. Mr Kane tried to massively overstack this base and paid a steep price. It should hold.

Between Pingsiang and Kukong, there is the stack of 3 LCU in the WR headed west to what will soon be 3 Corp in the rough hex between Kukong and Henhyang. They haven't been there long enough to build up forts.

Kukong - I have over 1000AV fully prepped troops behind level 4 forts. However, all their experience is still around 40.

Kanhsein - I have a few leftover troops that retreated there from the east. Mr Kane has 9 LCU just to NW of base.

Overall, I think Mr Kane is steadily shifting forces to the southern part of this area. With India invaded, getting extra supplies in China is out of the question. My MLR is strong in the northern area. I'm steadily moving south some of my reserves from there.

Notes/Plans:
Intel -

India - The war has moved steadily north except for my isolated troops in SE corner.

Cawnpore - This urban base now has a highly experienced British Brigade and Recon with BFs build up the AF (forts at 3). AV is around 250. I found a Heavy AA Rgt at colombo and paid the PP to buy it out. Its being loaded and then will head here as the small BF don't have much in the way of heavy AA (only 4 guns each, if at all).

Allahabad - Two of those 80 experience British Brigades, a heavy AA, and 3 BFs are in this base with only forts at 1. I don't think the armor unit now in Benares will come across the river. From Bombay via Jubbulpore a Chinese Corp (355AV with sub-50 experience) will march to the JR hex 2 due west to block any moves in that direction.

Benares - Is now Japan's and the defeated units from Patna will march to the NW around the base. The highly disrupted 23rd Indian Div (still divided due to earlier error on my part with some light AA guns mixed), and other units (without any AA) may be safe for now from the ground. It looks like Imperial Gds Div is headed SW across the river.

2 North Ranchi - I now have a path to jungles to west, but the 17th Indian Div still has disruption at 88. With the IG Div headed this way and only a heavy AA unit (24 guns) to keep his bombers at bay, I don't think the outcome will be very good for me.

Ranchi - 2/3 of 41st American Div along with 4 armored units and a heavy AA are behind F3. This base is secure for now, but I would except a flanking attack to develop from the north if I cannot get 17 Indian into better terrain.

Jamshedpur - My strongest base in the front lines. Forts just went to 4 and I have my two Aussie divisions plus the 20th Indian which are all over 50 experience. My big AA Brigade is here. [8D]

Sambalpur (3 due west of Jamshedpur) - Only a small Rifle Battalion holds base form what may be a Tank Rgt coming in from west. However, 7th Indian div and 254 Armored Brigade are coming form Jamshedpur to smash it.

Dimapur - The remnants from Burma have retreated here (Chinese Corp and Burma Div). They face 3 divisions and will get pushed back to Ledo in a few weeks.

Notes: To any other Allied player, please don't overlook where you send you precious AA units early in the war. Especially those heavy AA. I have some in route from USA, but they will not get to Cape Town for at least 30 days. Another shortage in India is construction engineers. Some are in route from USA, but some SeaBees will be bought out and sent.

40/A Div begins loading at cape Town for Karachi. The rest to follow.
