RE: TGW playtest
This is the Stalingrad area now. I'm running into really low supply areas and will have to suspend the advance soon.

Here's the front lines now. Fall has past and winter approaches and I've got to give some thought to pulling back to
areas where the supply is ample.

RE: TGW playtest
Here's a close-up of the southern front. I'm noticing how late in the year it's starting to be and how much further I have to go to
get to a major city / port / airfield. I really hesitate to get into those mountains in the winter. I might get some troops trapped
in a strange hex or something. I've heard there's badlands in those mountains and that's bad news. That's going to hold up
my columns and make the take-down terribly inefficient. Which spells calender trouble. The supply net is just about to collapse
and now's when I need the supply to finish this battle. So I'll have to pull back and I may be looking at early '44 before I can
gain the advantage for sure.

RE: TGW playtest
As you can see from the mini-map most of the Axis stuff is on the west side of the major river flowing NW to SE and
this may be my one chance this year to get a foothold across the river. If I can even hold onto it through the winter.
I think I've trapped or surrounded most of the Soviet stuff in this shot and I'm just mopping up here. Most of the units
are free to move on to more targets.

RE: TGW playtest
Once you get out into the hinterlands of the Russian Steepe you run into a situation where the airfields are sparse.
I can't get all my fighters into good positions to cover the troops. So I guess what we'll do is set up some kind of
rotation scheme where the tired units get flown to the rear to rest and the rested ones replace them on the front
lines. If I keep it simple then maybe I can get it to work. I hate to take notes so I'll discriminate rested from tired
by setting the thermostat at 50% ( 50% is good and less is tired ).

Here's the Stalingrad area now. I've gotten on the east side of the river and Soviet resistance is light so things would
be extraordinarily rosey if only the supply level was higher.

RE: TGW playtest
I have reached the limit of supply on the northern flank. I'm going to have to pull back slightly evidently.

The two security units are out of supply (note the black health lights) due to terrain (probably badlands), but the infantry unit is in supply, but just in a location with zero location supply.
If you ever make a 3.6 version of this you should set a Force Overextended Supply Threshold value for each side. Then those limits will really bite.

RE: TGW playtest
So um.......what would a reasonable value be for each side? What's the default? Thanks for the idea.ORIGINAL: Curtis Lemay

EDIT: So um......I don't seem to be able to find the Force Overextended Supply Threshold value line in the pop-up menu. Where
might I find it?

The default value is 0, which disables the feature. I used a value of 4 for both sides in Soviet Union 1941 and that seemed to work well. That means that all locations with values of 3 or less will be Overextended.
If you can't see it then either you aren't running 3.6 or you have not deleted the file GameText.xml.

RE: TGW playtest
It looks like in T71 that three of my Axis fighter squadrons got removed and replaced. Okay with me. I'm wondering
what the difference is.

RE: TGW playtest
Note to Steve: It would be really neat if the name of the squadron could include something about the kind of aircraft flown by the
unit. Two squadrons are named that way and without opening the unit display I can tell what the mission options should look like.
I like that. Could the other squadrons be renamed? Just a thought?

I'm just about to reach the East edge of the map. Do I win if I can get there?

I'll take a look, should be possible.
I'm just about to reach the East edge of the map. Do I win if I can get there?
Well, the East Edge doesn't really have anything to do with victory, it's more about the status of Leningrad, Moscow, Stalingrad, Bucharest, Budapest and Moscow on turn 203.
Ideally, when you've reached the point that you now have there would be battles against the Soviets that are based beyond the Urals. My experience was that the Soviets controlled by Elmer made no effort to push the Axis back. I've got to make some changes, but I'm not sure what.

I'm seeing the same thing. They don't counterattack much they just sit there and let me surround them and destroy them.I'm not sureORIGINAL: sPzAbt653

Another milestone passed. I've sealed off the southern peninsula so that all the Soviet equipment in there is eventually going
to the scrap heap. Unless the Soviets counterattack and break the seal. I'm guessing that might happen during the winter.

Okie dokie........it's January and here's the supply situation on the front lines. I've gotten into the habit of just moving the
ones that are in the green health-wise. That usually means they have about 60% supply or more. I'm using that as the
thermostat to determine if they are combat ready or not.
