Hmm...It´s becoming difficult. A target aiming for a head?

"OP FIRE" fits into the icon and tells what it is all about. So I am not unhappy about it as such. Just curious if someone would come up with a good icon for it [:)]

Berto, this is a good picture showing several units selected (in the middle of the map) taken from the Tiller´s game "The french and indian wars". This is the famous "shiny" color I refered. As you can see the zoom is so far from the surface, but the units can be seen clearly and the colour covers the full counter.

Hope this helps.

Those look like white highlight color, nothing fancy there. CSME has white as one of 16 possible highlight colors. Maybe the issue is that, in general, CSME maps are lighter colored. The map you display in the screenshot is darkish, so the white highlight just stands out better.

Very true, but don´t forget the "colour" covers the full counter. That also means a lot.

In CSME (and our earlier JTCS 2.02), the counter highlight encompasses the entire counter.

I think the issue might be that in the JT game the highlight is one pixel thicker all around.

More images, this time from Advanced Tactics. In the first screenshot we see the hexes controlled by the german army thanks to a yellow border that covers the hexes.

In the second, the same area with the "See supply" button enabled. IMO this would be one the most important improvements to the Campaign series.

Ok. Anyway I see very, very clear the highlighted units in this Tiller game.

Would be great a sign (or a text) in the infobox when an unit is assaulting. It´s pretty useful if you´re going to assault with several units. Sometimes it´s hard to remember wich unit participate in the action (my bad memory [:D]), specially when the attacks come from different hexes.

Guess the game could be more intuitive with a click sound every time you select an unit or press a hotkey. At least as an option.

A pair of ideas to help know "whats your unit"

1- in HQs add a letter to know if is an infantry, tank, mech infantry, arty.... battalion, brigade or division, now you only know what is the size of HQ unit but not the type.

2- you post a Tiller image from Early America serie... well, i dont know if is possible do like in Tiller games and add a formation coulour in the counter... with the game scale i think in battalion in small-medium scens and in bigger scens brigade or division.

For me one of the biggest problems in serie is that you cant know easy what is the formation on certain unit without use Z hotkey... even more, you lack the right buttom option to see in unit panel the OOB structure for that unit.

A picture taken from Tiller´s PzC Kharkov´43 with the divisional markings enabled on the counters (different colours). There are also four units selected with the "highlight organization" button.

Agree. It´s not very intuitive in my opinion and sometimes even a bit dizzy. [:(]

You´re welcome Jason! [:)]

You know guys I always try to be sincere and my intention is to give ideas (doing my best) to improve this excellent game. Fanboys (idolaters) are different beasts, these arse-lickers firmly believe everything they like is totally perfect. [:D]

@Jafele et al: As Jason says, great ideas.

We have a complicated sequence of to-dos, multiple games to support, technical challenges, evolving marketing plans, etc., etc. Without going into detail (except for glimpses that we might reveal from time to time in Coder/Developer Diaries and other forum threads), we pick and choose and schedule improvements and wish list fulfillments on what, to outsiders, might seem to be a mysterious and even random process. There is method to our madness. If we don't act on wish list requests right away, it doesn't mean we have rejected them, or that you won't see them eventually. And if some things we never act on, it's usually with good reason. We hear ya, but we also ask for your patience. Rome Wasn't Built in a Day. Corollary: Rome is not Athens. [;)]

I know it Berto [;)]. You´re a small team with a lot of work to do. Fortunately the campaign series is a very long term project, so there´s no hurry. There are plenty of good ideas in this thread that you´ll have on hand if you need them. Some may fit, others not. That´s all we (the outsiders) can do to help to the project. This is your game and I like it.

I refer to something like this... when you do in Tiller right click in unit "portrait" you can see the OOB structure and if you select the unit in diferent colour the units that are from that formations.

The point in have unit colours in counters is that this help a lot to know whats the distribution of your units in the map without need click+Z key, even in a small scen you need click a lot to know how are your formations in the map.
