He has 2 full split German mountain divisions.

Those north of Tiblisi could be minor mountain units. Watch out for those Rumanians. I was planning on putting up a weak picket line near Tiblisi. Like everything else it better hold.

I now have his next turn. Not yet opened.

Regarding the helping of BAKU, it is only if your south troops could continue the rail cutting, otherwise only cutting rail in the ROSTOV region could be in vain.
I just remember that if the rail doesn’t link up with the main Rail network, then each rail hex will count as 1 mp+, adding all alone the remaining rail hexes. In this case, if the Rail has been cut near Rostov, i.e. cut from the main Rail net work, then even if the port itself has 0 SP, each rail hex extending from the port will count as 1 MP+ for each Rail hex.
Is this remains so in 1.09? If so, then cutting the south Rail isn’t that important, as long as the Rail being cut south of Rostov, the Rail line will stop to serve as rail head, no matter of whether it links with a port or not.

It may be an either/or situation.

atm, the Rostov rail goes west to Krasnodor then east thru the swamps which is where my south cut off is ongoing.
This distance will still mean over 45 mp down to Grozny and beyond in clear.

If he gets the more Eastern line up and running south from Rostov, then I will be in deep doo and need to cut off the Rostov line.
This should happen next turn, not as of this latest turn which is still being worked on.

I think that in your current situation, if you only rely on the rail cutting to defend BAKU, then it will be very risky and dangerous. If the AXIS knows the business, he could do this:
Secure the Rail for one turn, and do HQ build up for the 2-3 forward PZ corps, the HQs looks in 20 MP range if the rail intact for 1 turn. Too many PZ D in this region, which makes the HQ build up very dangerous to your side, and given he had paid so high price for his BAKU campaign, he will be willing to pay the AP price to get them enough fuel for two turns to storm BAKU.
Better put the fate into your own hands by sending enough troops to BAKU, like RED ARMY did in KURSK in 1943, no RUSSIAN ever regret sending too much troops there.

open near Rostov.

I have 3 tank corp cut off but hold the rr corridor.

I don't think I can get to Rostov itself this turn. maybe cut rr a few hexes south of Rostov. Maybe.

I am also pushed back south of Krasnodor.

Leningrad.

He leaves one div east of river. Thus I push him back. FINALLY!

Now my far north border units can get their morale back to normal levels.

Many have been at 35 morale due to the weird supply situation (bug)at the border when the rr is cut further down.

Krasnodar supply corridor.

I bash (bash is correct) my way to rr hex for a cut off.

I had to attack the first hex about 4 times. Thought maybe it would not succeed.

Very relieved as this was early in moves and helped decide other moves.

Mountain situation.

I show these because

1. I really dislike those German mountain troops at this time
2. I shot down 33 bombers. woo hoo!

I move out one hq ( and strip out its units) to be near Tiblisi in case of attack across there.

I have 3 army hq's west of the mountain and one at the mountain area.

Vatutan had been recently dismissed from Trans front which is near mountain.
Bad timing a few turns ago.

Northwest Moscow.

one attack here succeeds and one near the Moscow canal, and one near Kalinin. .

I don't think he can get across river here without major pain.

Thus, his tanks may now be of waste and not around to help down south.

I do not rescue cut off troops.

Rostov operations:

South of the river I 'plan' to try and pincer his tanks in the middle.

Below I try and reestablish supply to cut off tank corp just near the river.

North of the river I attempt to break thru and get to rr a few hexes south Rostov (complete failure due to Latvian ss unit)

5th.

I reach first batch of units. None to excited to be rescued it seems.

Further attacks to get to tanks fail from this side.

I then attempt the north attack pincer.

His units are very broken up and his next turn counter moves will be odd and difficult.

Here I push Hun tank back over river. But that sole SS unit just above will not be denied.

I missed attacked this ss unit as I could have used 2 cav cop attack at first. I did not. Thus bad sequence.

He is strong here but his tanks are now split in this area.

ATTACK!

I launched offensive south between the rivers and get over the minor river as area is unblocked behind main line.

Thin lines. Here I raise movement possibilities.

I think I am 1 mp short of cutting the whole rr just south of Stalino.

And I don't know what's in that fort hex with a Rumanian counter. Nor what's in the 3 city hexes

I decide to squeeze in a tank corp low on mp to give it 3 shots to clear the fort.

The fort contained a Rumanian hq and the fort.

Final Stalino positions.

He had the 3 cities occupied with Partisan Garrison troops. Duh!

I bring up another raw tank corp for next turn. Hopefully I will have a chance to cut line just south of Stalino.

I have also rr in 22nd Army which was previous south Moscow.

His hq around here is OKH. He has not been getting support unit help in battles.

My 37th Army with Brymanian(spell) is at the east part of this map. Now here for a second turn and building up if lines weaken as Germans move west to support Stalino area.
