TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
Not worth risking further losses. If turn doesn't end CW can send replacements.
Of course the turn is almost certain to end now.
I put the losses on CW as France is less able to replace them and has other urgent repair jobs.

Not sure whether to do naval with CW to send out CP's and other naval units to have a go at the Italians or combined which will send out the CP's only, however does allow some movement of the BEF to where they are needed. I'm inclined to the latter.
French plans?
By the way, is there a tale to tell with the HMS Warspite changing to HMS Formidable?

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
Difficult one. Can the CW get all the CP they need out with a combined? The French are screwed - they have no CP spare to make up for the losses.....
I guess the French will do a land unless there is any requirement for their navy to assist the RN - in which case they are of course at your disposal via a combined.
The reason for the temporary substitution of the Old Lady is in my sig line [:)]

How blind can one be [8D].
Can't get out all the ones I need, only the ones available. Everything else that would be in range is disorganised.
It would limit the land move options but that nice little fleet in Syria looks just ripe for taking on those Italian cruisers.

Admiral Godfroy and his fleet are at your service. No other French orders this side of land movement.

The CA and Div move is a bit of a gamble. If it comes off, great but the loss is bearable.
I've gone for Belgium more to get at the French while there are still gaps and single stacked units to have a go at. If the CW are able to deploy to Antwerp, it'll be a shame but anticipated as likely.

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
I think the plans may have come slightly unstuck as I don't think an invasion of Antwerp will be automatic now.
Do Japan do any rail moves?

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
German orders. Posted here so they don't get lost pending the correct game version being used.
Nov/Dec 1939 - Impulse 1
Looks like the Belgium first ploy might have achieved a bit of a surprise. Whether it will come to anything who knows but at least it will make taking Holland easier.
Over to you for Japanese land movement and combat declarations.
Germany will invade Antwerp with the DIV and add the INF and ARM to the combat. This will be a 7:1 attack. Should succeed. Land the INF Div and advance the INF to occupy Antwerp. Leave ARM where it is. Everything adjacent to Liege attacks to get automatic. No HQ or air support. Advance in the VII MOT, the XLVI MECH and the 105 mm.
Rebase BF-109 E2 to Liege, Bf-109 E1 to 51,32 (on the ARM), Ju87 B and JU-88 to Cologne, He-111 to Aachen.
Note the Japanese threw a 1 for Nanchang.

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
Have you thought about what will happen it the Allies do not include the notional at Antwerp?
I thought I knew how to play this game....
RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
Since the supporting land units were added to the invasion before the question of notional inclusion came up, I'd assumed they would all be involved in the combat whatever the choice. However, your question prompted me to check RAC.
What would happen is only the INF Div occupies the hex and next impulse gets taken out as the Allies counter-attack.
That's a bit fundamental and somewhat changes what I would have done this impulse.

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
Good evening my dear old thing.
Revised instructions for the rest of the impulse.
Germany invades Rotterdam with the INF Div.
Land combat declared on Amsterdam. I INF, HG ARM Div, VII Mot and XLVII ARM are allocated to capturing the capital. When the time comes, add the He-111's for tactical support. The He-111's can land at Frankfurt. This will give 7:1.
Add the XLVI MECH to support the Rotterdam invasion.
They may decline the notional but at 4:1 with it, they may decide to include.
If they include, resolve the attack on Amsterdam first. It will succeed and unless a 1 is rolled, no losses. ARM Div can take it, if there are. Advance the I INF, HG ARM Div, VII Mot into the hex. The success will improve the invasion odds to 7:1. Land the INF Div and advance the MECH.
Rebase 5-factor Ju-87B to Hamburg, Bf-109 E4 to Essen, Bf-109 E2 to forest hex 49,37, Ju-88 to Cologne, other Ju-87B to Cologne.
No reorganisations.
Good luck with the Japanese. Roll well.

Notes from AllenK on Nordic 2 19/10/2017
The French fleet acquitted itself well.
Over to you for the rest of the impulse.
No Chinese land moves.. Anything I would want to move gets disorganised in the rain.
CW moves MECH to Calais, MOT from Lorient to Cherbourg, Indian INF from Suez to Alexandria.
No rebases or reorgs.

Good evening old chap.

Looking at that friendly reminder from our friends the opposition, will the Japanese be attending to the garrison requirements or are you going for a bold strategy to lure USSR into declaring war on Japan so as to draw units away from the west?
Obviously, the Germans would be delighted at the prospect of a weaker Soviet defence but unless a few things such as weather and combat rolls go spectacularly well, an invasion of USSR probably won't happen until 1941.

Les Francais will of course decide upon the course of action they wish to take in order to take best advantage of the favourable search rolls. A suggestion would be 0-box only, save 3 surprise points to select a target and the rest to increasing damage. Hopefully that will give an X result and take out 2 CP's and hopefully damage one of the escorts.

I have no intention of allowing the USSR to declare war. I've taken my eye off that particular ball. I just hope I'm not too late....

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
For now you just need to move the unit in the city a couple of hexes to be within 3-hex range of the border. Might be an idea to build the Manchurian TERR units. They are cheap, quick to build and will contribute the the ratio.

I say old bean, what plans for the impulse. CW will go for a combined to continue moving the BEF, let the Subs from Malta loose in the Italian Coast and move those ships from Denmark.
Might the French try a combined to have another go in the Baltic? Naval would be an option to also put some ships in West Med and possibly Italian Coast ready for next turn. This late in the turn, Stuttgart would be a potential target for Strat bombing. No German fighters in range.

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
I think I'd be tempted to try and make a run for the hills, something like below. It's playing for time and draws the Japanese army further into the interior. There will be an 80% chance of turn ending. If it does, we build the Sian MIL to give a 2 unit garrison as a bit of a speed bump. The positioning will stop that CAV Div taking Tianshui if Axis go first next turn.

RE: TOP SECRET: AllenK and warspite1 ONLY!!!!
I was considering attacking the division with the warlord unit. 3:2 + 1 and no doubt assault.....I'll have to think about that, it's all pretty desperate.
But the French will do a combined.
