Turn 26 - 30th August 1940

A grim turn for the French....

In addition the Italians take Marseilles and French morale drops lower.

Turn 26 - 30th August 1940

I'm not sure exactly what happened in the Med. It looked like an Italian cruiser tried attacking a French battleship and the Italian counter appeared to head west(?)....

Meanwhile an Italian light cruiser squadron throws itself suicidally against a French heavy cruiser squadron in the Straits of Messina... Meanwhile in the Gulf of Sirte the Italian submarines have some success against the 5th Cruiser Squadron and then retire.

Turn 26 - 30th August 1940

The Italians take advantage of the fact I could not reinforce the corps in Marseilles and take the port. In the north the British II Corps grimly beats off German panzers at Cherbourg.

The French 5th and 8th Armies, northwest and southeast of Paris are badly mauled... The French have almost run out of troops.

Turn 26 - 30th August 1940

In China the Japanese continue with their attacks - there is little variation - and still the Chinese hold on. No picture provided as, apart from the usual losses, there is no movement or unit losses on the front.

Turn 27 - 13th September 1940

Reinforcements: China - 2 armies and a corps (I thought the armies were not coming until next turn? Oh well - I'm not complaining)!

I add reinforcements to all the units I've not moved and save 153MPP which is handy.

Turn 27 - 13th September 1940

Reinforcements

USSR - Mechanised Corps and Engineers. I place the engineers north of Lake Peipus and will start to fortify the approaches to Leningrad from next turn.

Turn 27 - 13th September 1940

Reinforcements: The Corps in Canada will be transported to the UK.

I stupidly forgot to place my engineers in convoy to head for Egypt but at least remembered to do that this turn....

In order to protect the Home Fleet returning to port I send the 2nd Submarine Flotilla north. They come across two wolfpacks - and I don't have any units that can counter....

Meanwhile in the Med.....

Turn 28 - 27th September 1940

The Japanese start to make moves in Indo China and so I can expect an attack from here pretty soon I guess.

However, this worrying development aside, the Sino-Japanese conflict remains pretty much "as you were". Reductions in men but no losses of wholesale units. The strikes from Japanese carriers has also abated.

Turn 28 - 27th September 1940

Mmmmm The British II Corps is wiped out in the Cotentin Peninsular. The two French armies guarding the northern and southern approaches to Parsi are destroyed and additional losses are incurred to.

On the plus side the French tanks in Paris took a heavy toll on the German infantry - as did the remaining French forces in the south.

The Italian battlefleet sortied from Taranto and..... right into my sub line. Scratch one battlefleet.....

Turn 29 - 11th October 1940

Reinforcements

Given the latest in French Indo-China, I place the newly arrived CCCXXII Corps in Kunming. If I am reading it right it looks like the advance in infantry weapons will come next turn. I want to save as many MPP as I can for upgrading therefore.

After reinforcement I have 201MPP, so if I can steer clear of any disasters next turn I should be looking good in the upgrade dept.

The USSR receives a Garrison and researches mobility.

The UK welcomes the arrival of III Corps and I spend the turn bringing naval units to port for reset and refit. I also reinforce air units in the UK and reinforce generally in Egypt. A South African corps lands in Egypt too.

Turn 30 - 25th October 1940

Lots happening that turn. I won't spend much time on China as its more of the same. The Japanese appear no closer to making a break-through (famous last words).

However in France its a different story. The brave French tankmen defending Paris are overcome and the capital falls - along with the rest of country quickly thereafter....

Sadly I wasn't able to take a screenshot of all the other shenanigans but essentially, Vichy has been declared - the usual suspects have aligned with Petain, although French Equatorial Africa has gone over to DeGaulle.

Dang good AAR. Lots of information. Early war looking standard so far, well, much as we know. Gets interesting after France. Not sure I like the location of the Russia fortress, but hey, doesn't hurt to try upfront with a couple.

Keep up the good work!
Slaps issued: 16 - Patton, Dana White, Batman, Samson. Medals/Salutes given: 6, warnings received: 11, suspensions served: 4, riots: 2.

Thanks a lot for this AAR, it is nice to see the step-by-step game from the Allies too, most YouTubers do Axis, so...

Can you post a screenshot of the different researches that you are courrently (October 1940) doing?

I would like to compare with my research strategy because I have not been able yet to beat the game as Allies on the highest difficulty level!

Also... I saw you mentioning "The US Research Advanced Tanks and Naval Warfare".
Why did you invest in USSR Naval Warfare? They barely have any ships...

Coming up....

United Kingdom

First its the UK. Maximum = 2,000 and currently expending 1,450 MPP. Plenty of room for more research but the need to reinforce and build units takes up a large amount of expenditure - so its a real balancing act.

United States

Similarly with the US there is plenty of headroom. I have no real idea as to how much (and what) I should be building with the US at this stage so I need to keep a mix going. In the coming months I am going to figure on a plan for the US and take the build program from that.

This is a little more straight forward. I need Infantry Weapons, Anti-Tank, Advanced Tanks, Artillery and Advanced Fighters.....and units!

China

China is an interesting one. I've only been concentrating on Infantry Weapons as I don't think the Japanese should be that big in the tank dept. I will probably need to get Anti-Tank underway soon though. Plenty of headroom - 800 MPP - as a result of the need to keep re-building and reinforcing my hard-pressed infantry.
