This is why I don't use map mods.
None have any visual clue of terrain type.
This is crucial for a newb in learning and appreciating terrain effects on movement and combat.
Don't get sucked into the sexy graphics of the map mods.
Key "1" is your best friend.
Although I would prefer to have hints on terrain type in e.g. Chemkid map, it is much easier to the eyes compared to a stock colourful burst. And much easier to spot things

The game is great, just isn't for everyone. I loved it, just need some minor adjustments.

My wife is gonna kill me lol...

Just kiss her goodbye if and when you make your purchase. You won't see her any more once you start to play.[:D]

Just go ahead and inform your wife that she is obsolete. You just might be able to see again in a few days when the swelling goes down.

+1 Assuming, of course, that you still want to see...

I keep asking if I can trade mine in on a newer model. So far, no takers [:(][8|]

WiTP AE is mankind's longest Sitzkrieg ever - takes five years of sitting in front of a computer to finish one campaign, provided you are a quick turnturner.

That is only one turn per day. If you don't work [:D] not have a [:@] family, it goes much quicker.

This is a self-correcting problem. Start a game and the job/family will soon cease to be an issue.

The trade-in value is negative. Very negative.

Not quite true, at least in my case. I'm divorced, and retired and I still can't seem to roll out the turns. RL just keeps intruding. I really need to hit the lottery so I can hire a staff. Oh, that's not for the game, its for RL, so I can delegate everything else to my minions and concentrate on AE.[:D]

I am disabled on partial disability. No job.[:D]

I am still free with no children. So no job nor family. No vehicle and walking far gives me problems.

This game is a wargamer's Nirvana - but like Nirvana, it takes quite a while to reach Enlightenment. [&o]

I'm fully disabled as I had a head injury. I'm home with my family and I can still manage 3 to 5 turns. But I hear you....GP

It has a steep learning cliff. Been playing since the classic WITP and I'm still learning or relearning stuff
