Phase 1 of fly swatter is a success. The Japanese have been driven off British supply lines near Rangoon. Phase 2 of "Flyswatter" is now underway.

Once more the British spin tales to make themselves look great. Do they mention that they had vastly superior numbers and still took losses equal to 60% of what they inflicted ? Do they mention that it is mostly conscripted Indian soldiers defending their colonies ? Where is vaunted Royal Navy ? Where are her glorious battleships ? Let me tell you... They are hiding from the superior technology and skill of the Japanese. As the British troops sit nice and refreshed in rear areas, the Indian and Australian soldiers are dying for the crown.

The very thought of eliminating the Japanese threat to British slavery in India and Burma is a joke. The British will simply send thousands of young men to slow down the Japanese juggernaught while the officers drink beer and party in Dacca. The British may slow down the Japanese onslaught but they do not have the courage nor skills required to stop it.

This has been a public broadcast from Tokyo Rose [:'(]

Well I overwrote the 27ths Combat Report but can give you guys some highlights... A badly damaged IJN AP fleeing from Kuching finally succumbed to the fires and flooding damage and sunk just miles from Saigon. 3 British AKs involved in Operation Fly Swatter (As Rob calls it) caught some Nell launched torps and sank violently and quickly as a result. The waters of Rangoon are littered with debris and dead Brits.

For the 28th more of the same basically. Malacca (in Malaya) fell to Imperial Japanese forces this morning leaving the Brits with the 3 southernmost bases and Georgetown (I think) left in Malaya. As evening fell Moulmein was under heavy attack and is expected to fall by morning.
Lamon Bay (in PI) is under heavy attack and will fall within a day - two at the most. This will leave the Allies with only 4 bases left in PI - Bataan, Manilla, Clark Field and San Marcelino. Intel reports 12 units at Clark and 3 at San Marcelino.

The foul British and their Indian servants have freed the Rail leading from Rangoon to the north and are close to driving off the small Japanese unit to the east of Rangoon as well. Over 10,000 British soldiers are reputed to be getting ready to rush the small Japanese force holding the road junction. The brave Japanese wait anxiously for relief from the 16th Division (not sure if thats the right #) who is a couple days away and moving hard and fast.

IJN Nells and Betties once more pounded the transports off the port of Rangoon, sending several AKs to the bottom. And an IJN sub found and surprised a pair of DDs and blew one apart with a pair of fish. The sub escaped retaliation easily.

A heavily injured IJN Sub finally lost another bulkhead and sunk into the depths of the Pacific. An Allied sub near Tokyo evaded attack and landed a torp into a minesweeper, blasting her into small pieces. The hunt for the sub continues.

I'm not sure what Rob is doing, but he seems to be sending a lot of subs very close to Tokyo harbor for some reason. I have several subs spotted in the area and am concentrating my ASW assets there. I believe several of them will not make it home due to the 5 ASW TFs I have in the area hunting them.

Well heres the report for anyone who wants to see it...

It always amazes me how different the reports you post are from the ones I see :). If you had sank as many AKs as you claimed the British would have none left :)...same with American submarines.

Phase 2 of Fly Swatter is now underway...you will soon see a surprise in a direction you did not expect.

Not different.. I just post em as the come in... and I mark the ships that appear on the Ships Sunk list :) Don't try to convince us that the RN is losing ships at a fast pace.. You can lie to the British people, but not to us [:'(]

As for Fly Droppings bring it on.... Hopefully for you I will be surprised ...

Well another turn and more British ships sink beneath the surface of the Indian Ocean. I sunk a couple of them off Rangoon once more and I think 1 or 2 sunk from previous damage. I'm sure Rob is getting men and material ashore in Rangoon, but his shipping capacity is paying a high price.

Well... Operation Polar Glory did not go off as planned.. Polar Glory is the new invasion of Wake Island by an entire division of troops. My surface TF arrived and bombarded the defenders and then it went downhill fast... My Transport TF came in and started offloading men and took a beating from CD Guns (They weren't this tough before - first hint something is not good). Well a thousand men or so made it ashore and took a beating from the NEW Wake Garrison - the old ragtag Battalion, a CD or AA unit and a nice, new DIV from Pearl [:@] Not happy at all. My men got blasted all over the island and I have to make a tough choice... Continue the attack and hope for the best, or pull out while I still have 90% of my division left.. Hard choice as Wake is a pain in the butt - right in the middle of my SLOC between Japan and my south pacific islands.

I got a freebie the other turn as Apamama Island turned over to my control - this is the last of the Gilbert Islands and the southernmost. Now the Gilberts are all mine [:D]

I am still waiting for Rob's second op to strike, so maybe another turn and I'll get to see it.. Oh well...

Surprise :).

It always pissed me off that the American Navy was too gutless to at least try to save the Marines on Wake (yeah yeah I know they were fearing invasion of the west coast and held back) so once Wake survived the first turn I thought...hmmm what happens if I reinforce the place :).

The first of 3 or is that 4 surprises I have for my very over extended enemy.

Oh and the Brits have plenty of merchant vessels for you to sink :)....spend more of those Nells and Betty in attacks against them :).

Hello...

An ASW attack in which no body passed any rolls, so the surface ships failed to attack and the submarine failed to counter attack. Sometimes happens. Think of it as a suspected sighting.

Overrextended ? Naahhh.. Not as much as you would think. The last few turns have been consolidation for me.. I am anxiously awaiting these surprises to see how well my defenses are.. I don't think he can hit hard enough to actually hurt me (yet) and if he hits the wrong place it will cost him everything he sends - so we will see.

Well its almost New Years eve and the Japanese are celebrating early. The Brits have taken a good hit - both Hong Kong and Georgetown fall leaving roughly 12,000 Brits either dead or in prison [:D]

A dutch (I think) sub and an IJN TK had a few words with each other via surface guns and they both came away a little scathed - I don't think the sub is hurt much at all, but then either is my TK - luckily the sub didn't use any torps - either he's out or he missed !! Either way thats 9000 fuel I didn't lose.

I got a couple more merchie kills and several ships damaged last turn slipped beneath the waves today. In all 5 AKs were sunk today - most near Rangoon.

Well.... a very interesting turn to say the least. Last turn it looks like my trick to pull the Div of Wake in hopes that Rob would send in a TF or two to attack the transports - as my CVs were waiting - kinda worked and didn't... He didn't send anything to Wake... But the Enterprise and Lexington made their way about 200 miles ESE of my CVs without being spotted. As the Div was sent back to Wake my Vals bombed the hell out of the island... As the bombers were over Wake, a wave of USN aircraft found my CVs [:@] A furious air battle enveloped in which my Zeros ignored the Buffalos and beat the hell out of the SBDs, but not enough as they landed a few 500 lbers on some ships.. Then the next couple waves arrived landing more bombs on two of my CVs - fires immediately ignighted on the CVs...

Luckily I kept my Kates in reserve with Naval strike assigned and they flew off with escort. They found the American CVs and attacked.. The American CAP was pointless (I think they shot 1 plane down and MAYBE damaged a couple others) but the US flak was impressive and downed many Kates... BUT, the IJN pilots stuck with their attacks and managed to put some fish into both US CVs [:D] [:D] [:D]

I believe I have hurt the Lady Lex very badly, as when my DIV captured Wake, they destroyed a large number of Buffalos and SBDs that weren't there before - thus I'm assuming they are whats left of Lady Lex's aircraft...

So the dreaded Midway has happened - 6 months earlier and is a standstill right now... I have two damaged CVs, both they both can still operate aircraft. I have an unknown number of non-damaged CVs around, and I now control Wake for emergency landings and land-based aircraft. Should I keep my CVs in the area and finish off the Americans ? or should I pull back and let land-based aircraft do the job ? I will need to look at my airgroups and see how bad they are mauled to decide... but whoever wins this fight will control the mid-pacific for the next couple of months...

Did I mention Happy New Years ???

finish those usn cvs no matter what. gives you much more time to repair your own - and means you are free to do what you like until he gets more.

That was a sneaky move by rroberson! If you had a smaller CAP, it could have been nasty.

Dunno who will benefit from this in the long term. Depends on tomorrow's battle, I guess..

:) it depends on how badly Im hurt. I believed he had 3 carriers there (still believe that) but his report was quite different from mine (as always damn fow). It was a semi-improvised move on my part. I had been covering resupply groups (fast transport destroyers) with my carriers for about a week trying to slowly build up wake. I have a ring of subs (trip wire) and saw 2 red blobs (task forces) headed to wake a few days ago. I had already withdrawn my carriers (they were about a day out of Pearl) and turned them around hauling ass back to wake. My original intention was to pick off his transports at wake (staying well south of the carrier group which my boys at wake were plotting for me :D). Then i saw his carrier group move 'east' of Wake. I was pretty sure he had not spotted my 2 task forces. I went through my entire turn with my CVs still plotted to take up a comfortable position well outside of his carrier strikes possibilties, but close enough to pick off wake transports. Another day passed and my boys at Wake held, I got bold thinking I might not only stave off a second Wake invasion, but maybe I could hurt a carrier or two. So I sent them hurling North into harm's way. I was trying to get close enough for my torpedo planes but he moved west. It was great to get the first punch in :)...but my Dive bombers went after a couple of his battle wagons which thinned the attack against the carriers. I wont know how hard he actually hit me until tomorrow I have found that his pilots usually over estimate their hits GREATLY so we shall see. If the damage is as light as I hope then I may attack, then again I may move off, since the point of the op was to protect Wake and that has failed. Who knows what Admiral Robbie will do....until tomorrow.

Now what he isnt crowing about is how I have driven him completly away from Rangoon :)....That will be a far more interesting tale then this simple battle of Navys in the Central Pacific.
