Which plane in a normal carrier TF can carry troops???
Wouldn't it be more likely that it were seaplanes?! Is it possible to operate Catalinas from AVs? (only played japanese...)

Calm down.. its a lie... Rob doesn't have any CVs left floating to do this.. He used a bunch of subs to deliver some soldiers to Tinian.. Unfortunately he delievered far more than I thought - roughly 150 men. I have some troops there and we both attacked - I attacked normally and he shocked attacked... Both failed, but I by far got the better end of the attacks... His men should be starving about now - sub assaults don't bring many supplies with them - one good attack and they're all gone...

Well two more turns have gone by and nothing has happened... No truely... Not a single ship sunk by enemy action - although I lost a MSW that has been hiding in a port for several turns trying to bring its flooding under control (it lost)... We have exchanged some sub attacks and lots of air raids, but nothing has really happened... I am still moving units into position for my next set of attacks and firing arty into singapore to say hi to the Brits trapped there...
Rob has been up to his usual mining campaign.. I have found mines at Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Wake and Kwajalein to name a few.. These are being cleared by my MSW crews - which I spread out to such bases on turn 1 and won't be possing a problem for long.
My first delivery of oil has arrived in Saigon.. These 16,000 units will go a long way to support the industry there and in Bangkok for a long time... Other oil delivers are enroute to Japan with heavy ASW escorts.. I also have shiploads of resources making the slow trip to Japan as well.. These are not as important as the oil so they have less ASW protection... Gonna form them into 1 giant TF to make the last leg home though and give them some good ASW for that part of the trip... I don't believe Rob has many subs operating around Japan - I kill them to easily there - but you never know... Lossing a resource laden AK is bad - I cannot afford to lose any TKs - the oil is replacable... the ship is not..

A relatively slow turn again. Mostly sub action for the IJN this turn. Mu subs caught the BB Arizona between Hawaii and the West coast and reportedly put 3 fish into her side.. This (if accurate) should spell the end for the BB which has no where to run to avoid sinking.. Another IJN put a torp into the DD Case SW of Hawaii. This DD will probably make PH unless located and attacked again by my subs... My subs are also pursueing the Arizona to finish her off..
MY ASW forces report 3 hits on a dutch sub sending her to the bottom and another 2 hits on a second dutch sub - although the second report seems a bit far fetched...
My troops have captured another Aluetian island with no response from the US as of yet.
More mines have been located - this time at Wake once more... Rob keeps sending his useless US subs into my bases and laying minefields which I cannot risk to leave in place and must remove... Its move a pain than any real threat... But oh well...
My troops have begun their assaults on Singapore with roughly 4-5 divisons worth of troops gathered in the bombardments on Singapore.. So far we have been disabling (killing) 200 or so men per turn... A few more turns and we will begin actual attacks..
In Clark Field I finally have enough units there to do something.. The last bombardment wasn't bad and is simply the beginning of the assault for the base... I have troops also at Manilla (in large numbers) who have been bombarding the city every day for a week or so.. Not always killing enemy troops, but keeping them pinned down and unable to help the battle at Clark... The units there have also been usefull in spotting enemy sub TFs at the port - although I have been unable to effectively strike at them with aircraft at all...
I have 6 or so enemy subs spotted, but they are too far away from any ASW forces for me to do anything about.. I hope they come closer and I can pounce on them.. Next turn should return a DD back to full war service since its damage in the Wake invasion... The ship has been in drydocks for a month and is about to return to duty... YEAH !!! My first warships completely repaired...
Well that is about it for now... I am expecting more aggressive turns as my campaigns in Singapore and Clark Field become more heated as time goes by.. Rob's forces have little supply and are facing overwhelming forces at both places...
Well here is the AAR for your enjoyment...

Another ok turn.. My subs are very active again this turn.. I put two torps into the DD Shaw just off the coast of San Fran in two separate attacks. The Shaw may make port, but she will be out of commision for a long time (I hope)... My air raid on the Manilla port finally got an allied sub docked alongside a pier.. A single bomb sent this damaged sub to the bottom of Manilla harbor.... In other good news, a small TF made up of 3 DDs located and engaged the last known allied PT boat in the PI theater.. As the IJN DDs closed upon the surprised allied PT a single 5.5" shell landed in the midst of the PT resulting in a massive explosion completely destroying the ship and her crew...
On the land I didn't capture any bases this turn, but attacked at Ichang in china, as well as Clark Field and Singapore.. My troops were repulsed at all three locations, with Singapore having the best results - near even casualties... The other locations my men were repulsed easily by enemy units.... More air and land bombardments are ordered...
Several air raids in both Malaya and China resulted in more casualties for the allied side... In a night time air raid, 30+ Nates raided Singapore airfields straffing the runways and looking for reported aircraft based there.. The raid was successful in damaging the airfield, but no enemy planes were attacked (or even seen)... Looks like bad intel... again... My losses were reported quite high for this raid, but are less than half of what was reported - with most losses only being damaged planes.. But these leads me to believe that there is a LOT of AA at Singapore.... I am tempted to brave the Singapore CD guns and bombard the hell out of the base with my BBs, but not sure if I want to take that risk... It could have great results for me, but even 1 BB laid up for heavy repairs would make it worth less.... Decisions... decisions...

I trust you're aware that several of the CD guns at Singapore are 15-inchers? This looks like a job for the Yamato!

CLARK AIRFIELD HOLDS
Despite severe shelling the brave soldiers of the US Army continue to stave off wave after wave of Banzai screaming Xargunites. This morning's latest attempt to dislodge US and allied soldiers off the famed Phillipines base fell well short of the airfield, allowing air operations to continue as normal. More then four-thousand Japanese soldiers fell to allied guns compared to just 75 US and allied injured. Commanding General Wainwright continues to appeal to Washington for supplies and reinforcements, but based on the recent American naval withdrawal from the area, it is unlikely that any is forthcoming.
Chinese THRASH XARGS AT ICHENG
US Military officials say Chinese soldiers drove off 40-thousand Japanese troops at the outskirts of this central Chinese city this morning. As many as 4-thousand Xargunites fell to the guns of the defending Chinese during an attempt use of "shock" tactics by the Japanese. The local warlord laughed and waved his sword at the retreating Japanese screaming,"Send more Xargs, for my sword has not met enough of them yet!" No word of Chinese wounded, but it is said to be very light.

No I didn't know they were 15 inchers... I figured they were big enough to hurt my BBs IF they hit... Thats why I have to think about it.... same with Bataan... Portable CD units can't hurt BBs too easily.. But static units are deadly..

Well another day and more allied ships sunk !!! Got reports that the DD Shaw and Case succumbed to the torpedo wounds and sunk beneath the seas... Also sunk a pair of RN DDs (or possibly australian.. not sure who they used to belong to) at Amboina. It seems Rob sent 2 DDs to attack my landings at Amboina. As they entered the port, the DD Peary fell under intense bombardment by the CD unit there and was quickly sunk... The DD Pillsbury managed to avoid the CD fire completely and engage the large TF in port. Unfortunately the warships with the TF managed to sink the allied DD before it inflicted to much damage - although a MSW is reported heavily damaged... DDs, PGs and MSWs are credited with the sinking of the Pillsbury.
No word on the Arizona yet, despite several subs (and their aircraft) searching for the crippled ship...
Troops landed on Andaman Island under cover of darkness via sub transport and quickly captured the base there. They are preparing positions while expecting reinforcements any day. This base will be built up to support bombers and fighters to support the Japanese advancement along the coast of Burma. Also, the dutch base of Muntok fell to more submarine commandos, giving the Japanese complete control of the water access to the oil rich fields of Palembang... Operations against this important location will be commencing any time...
In a surprise move, Long Range Japanese bombers struck at the Australian port of Darwin under cover of darkness... Reports indicate at least 3 allied destroyers were hit by 800 kg bombs... All japanese aircraft returned safely to their airfields.
Japanese aircraft continue to pound the resources in and around the chinese city of Kunming with inpunity... Despite heavy chinese fighter CAP, japanese bombers still made successful runs against the resources...
Other than some air raids in china (by both sides) not much else happened... Enjoy the report..

Japanese forces CAPTURE Muntok base !!!

Another slow turn... Intelligences reports an allied AP and the CL St. Louis sinks near hawaii.. I don't remember hitting these ships so they must be old damage that either finally succumbed or Rob scuttled...
Rob sent me the turn and apologized for taking so long - he was reorganizing he said.. I see the results.. His ASW forces found and sunk 2 of my subs this turn, hitting each with 5+ depth charges. One near PH and the other off the coast of San Fran. In retaliation I sunk... nothing....
I raided Port Moresby attempting to crater the runway. The night attack failed, with reports of only a single hit.. I raided Darwin harbor again at night, this time hitting nothing but a fuel depot... Was hoping to finish off those damaged destroyers from last turn, but either they fled or I simply didn't make the roll to attack ships in port.
On the ground there were more artillery bombardments of Singapore and Clark Field and various air raids in China.. Allied bombers attacked Wuchow and Hong Kong attempting to hit industry (I think) but failed... Fighters have been moved into position to cover these bases in case Rob tries again.
More mines were located at Wake, as well as its mine laying sub.. I believe I damaged the sub with a depth charge or two, so maybe it will sink on its way home..
I am a bit worried at the moment... I notice a lack of subs in the DEI / SRA and wonder why. Have I hurt the dutch subs that bad that they are all in port repairing or sunk ? Or is Rob up to something sneaky ? I would guess the sneaky part... His US subs are being used to ferry men for some invasions (see below) as well as for mine layers - he has laid many mines at Wake, as well as some of the ports in Japan.
The battle for Tinian.. A couple days ago Rob dropped off 100+ men of the 24 US Division on the island in an attempt to sieze it. Luckily I have an BF there fortifying the island for future defensive measures and the BF is mostly filled out (has like 30 SNLF squads).. We both attacked on the first turn with neither side killing much, but I think that attack used up his supplies as he hasn't don't anything since... I have since then landed some backup (an NLF unit) and attacked this turn.. 40 Allied casualties were reported and I believe my next attack will force the remnants of the landing force to surrender - they have to be out of supply by now.
Other then that not much is happening... My first load of oil and resources from the DEI has arrived in Japan and is mostly unloaded so the oil / resource runs have begun.. I have a lot of oil enroute from Borneo - enough to run my economy back home for a week at least - provided it all makes it there... I have also dropped off oil at bother Saigon and Formosa to supply the industry there for a while...
Not much else going on...

14-17 January
Well several more days go by with little action other than air raids - mostly in china. My troops have liberated the islands of Namlea (West of Amboina) and Tulagi (Solomans) as well as capturing Sorong. I have also wiped out the remaining men from the 24 US Div who invaded Tinian Island via sub insertion.
Over these days not much has happened on the seas.. I lost a MSW from previous damage and Rob has lost another Dutch Sub.
Also on the ground my men are making headway against Clark Field and Singapore. After a week or so of arty strikes, my men are attacking. We are finally beginning to reduce the fortifications of these bases and are taking comparable losses except at Clark where the allies took 1000 more losses than me. Under this pressure I expect both bases to fall within a week.
My subs have completely lost track of the Arizona after putting 3 torps into her. My only guesses are she sunk and I haven't recieved any report on it yet, or somehow Rob managed to sneak her past my subs (and search planes) and is praying she makes it to port. While searching, I found a TK and put 2 fish into her as well... The targets around PH and the west coast are getting better, but most of my subs are either low on fuel or torps... They will have to begin rotation out to travel back for more of both. Several subs have already begun the long trip home.
Rob has stepped up his pressure in china, bringing several british air units into the fray. These bombers are attempting to strike at my newly liberated industry/resources/oil but so far have been mostly unsuccessful - but that is only a matter of time... I need to increase the number of air units I have in china to protect these vital assets - I stripped a lot of them out to support the strikes into Malaya and Burma as well as sending them all over the DEI for naval interdiction... Looks like I may have to spend a bunch of PPs to buy air units out of Japan and / or Kwantgtung to move to china.... Hmmm...
Despite my naval successes so far I know Rob has a large number of cruisers (mostly light I think) and a lot of DDs around. I see a lot of DDs on ASW patrols near PH and the west coast, but feel he has 20+ (along with the cruisers) in the south pacific or in OZ... Oz is about the only place he can base them with relative safety and still be usefull.. Until I take Sumatra I won't project to much into the Bay of Bengal and Central Pacific is too large for any normal fleet ops... So he is either hiding them in the Noumea area, New Zealand or OZ... Hmmm... I can't risk my CVs against Oz yet as he has a lot of air power there - although they are not highly skilled - it only takes one good bomb hit to put one of my CVs out of action for a month+ and I can't afford to have any of them off the line right now - I have to press my advantage while I can...
I want to take Port Moresby, but I just can't see a good way of doing it... I don't necessarily want PM, but I definately don't want him to have it.. Planes based there can threaten Rabaul and my LOC to the Solomons.... It will be a month or more before I can get enough troops and ships to Rabaul to attempt an invasion of PM, but by then he will have fortified it heavily I'm sure... It will be a tough decision to invade or not... In the meantime I can take the solomons at will and begin building up the AF at Lunga for future ops in the area... Come end of 42 / early 43 he will have to attack into that area to open up the LOC to OZ so I have a year at most to prepare...
Not sure what else I should be doing in this area (SW pacific) so if anyone has any suggestions please post.. I have CV supremacy right now with 7 CVs + babies to 1 RN CVL (I think its a CVL). The US may have the Yorktown by now, but with the past experience Rob would be foolish to risk her against my CVs.. She is probably hiding on the west coast in whatever port she enters in (Diego ?)... I would expect a heavy ASW effort in the area before she puts to sea.
No much on the report, but here ya go...

CLARK FALLS TO XARGUNITES!
The War Department today reported that US and Allied troops withdrew from Clark Air Field, consoldating their lines further into Bataan this week. Sources say that Allied troops held the line as long as the could but were overwhelmed by enemy firepower. General Wainwright, commanding all forces in the Philippines continues to ask for supplies and reinforcements to defend the island nation, something Washington continues to say is forthcoming.
British Report Rangoon was declared open city
Unable to mount a defense of any type with the forces at hand, British officials declared they had ordered the retreat out of Rangoon two weeks prior to the actual occupation of the port by the Japanese. Officials within the UK heirarchy say they are putting the air and ground forces to much better use then attempting to defend the undefendable. "The policy of land for time has worked well for our Chinese allies, we have adopted the same practice."

18 January 1942
Another day have come and gone and the war is picking up - finally [:D]
My men in the PI have finally cracked Clark AF Base and pushed the PA and US troops west into the Bataan pennisula. The IJA division that has been sitting in Manilla for ten days did its job of forcing all retreating troops to Bataan where they will be easier to deal with instead of allowing them to retreat into the city of Manilla - where the fighting would be door to door and cost a lot more casualties to IJA forces. My men will rest a couple days in Clark AFB and regain some strength (non malaria base) before heading off to both Bataan and Manilla.. The Bulk of the troops will head to Manilla to force the surrender of the enemy troops there, while enough troops will head to Bataan to perform a holding action, keeping enemy troops bottled up in Bataan. Over 1200 enemy solders were killed or surrendered during the retreat. Clark AFB held over 12,000 supply and its size 8 airfield is in perfect shape - I will be taking advantage of that soon...
I have been watching the combat reports at Manilla where I have been bombarding almost every turn to determine the enemy strength there.. I dont have troop numbers, but I do have troop units: 3 PA Div, 1 PS RCT, 1 CD unit and 5 AUX units (BF, HQ, AV). There combat ability is roughly equal to a single normal division, so they should last only a few days once I begin the assault...
In Malaya my assault on Singapore goes good. In a deliberate attack today my men reduced the fort level to 4. Despite 0:1 odds, my men killed or wounded over 2000 allied soldiers, whereas our casualties were less than 1500.. Definately in our favor.. More attacks are planned for tomorrow.
My special forces (sub assault units) landed at Sabang on the Northern tip of Sumatra today and will capture the base tomorrow against little to no resistance.. This will give me a nice location to base some AV support and some patrol planes to keep tabs on the Bay of Bengal...
On the high seas.... An allied TK succumbed to previous damage today between PH and the west coast - I believe this is the same TK my sub hit a few days ago... Also, my naval
search from Rabaul have finally found something to attack.. It looks like a resupply TF for Port Moresby - 2 AKs and 2 DDs.. My naval bombers flew in around noon and said hi, putting 3 torps into each of the merchies sinking them.. The DDs were also attacked, but no hits were reported - nimble little ships [:)]
Allied ASW TF found a attacked I-9 hitting it with several Depth Charges... Somehow the sub has not sunk and might even make it back to port for repairs... The ship has low sys damage but high flt damage... But with the low sys damage she is able to make over 10 knts without going to flank speed and with a little luck will survive the trip to a nearby base.
