While retreating I manage some LRAP but stil Jap bombers get through and I take another Torp. Valiant will need a long time in dry dock.

I have to stop playing silly buggers and just wait for 1Eyedjacks to come to me. Near my airfields where I will ahve room to retreat and he does not. While it has been fun I am starting to take more damage then is reasonable.

Ground combat at Singapore

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 268538 troops, 2090 guns, 392 vehicles, Assault Value = 4817

Defending force 116776 troops, 682 guns, 255 vehicles, Assault Value = 2104

Japanese engineers reduce fortifications to 8

Japanese max assault: 3689 - adjusted assault: 2089

Allied max defense: 2250 - adjusted defense: 5057

Japanese ground losses:
8421 casualties reported
Guns lost 200
Vehicles lost 39

Allied ground losses:

Guns lost 70

The start of the reduction of Singapore. Again this is just time, eat at my supply and disrupt my units. So lnog as the pressure is applied I will lose. However the starting supply and AV level is much higher then Manila and I hope to hold 1Eyedjacks for quite a while.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Naga

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 22805 troops, 43 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 717

Defending force 12051 troops, 4 guns, 168 vehicles, Assault Value = 195

Japanese ground losses:

Allied ground losses:
401 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Vehicles lost 5

I thought Naga would fall, muct be a lucky dice roll. It means I have a retreat path from either Naga or Manila. Probably no real effect in the long run but every day I grow stronger and my enemy grows weaker......I hope

That's pretty cool. In the post above I just wanted to show VMware running WITP on my PC in another window while I have normal access to my desktop. Now I can have wind open while I'm running WITP, take screen captures into Piant, and access this website all at the same time. And from a laptop with 512 RAM. I have another monitor attached and have stretched my desktop, which allows me to run the virtual PC with WITP on the 2nd monitor while I'm using other software on the primary monitor - 2 cool! I'll do one more dump in a sec.

Game Date 4-15-42:

So I'm softening up Yenan, Singapore, and Palembang. As my ground units disruption drops to acceptable levels they'll get in more attacks. Singapore, right now, has her forts at 6... Sigh!

I took Manila a few turns back but failed to anticipate the need for AP/AK TFs to redeploy them... That was not too bright on my part <grin>.

Tojo's are out in this game now - they seem much more effective against the Hvy bombers. I wish Darren would do a little more bombing in the area where I have Tojo's deployed so I can better study their effect against LBs. It's safe to say Zeroes don't do too much against Hvy LBs...

Things must be getting close @ Singapore as ships seem to be making a run for it.

Day Air attack on TF, near Johore Bahru at 22,50

So It's 4-23-42 now and things are opening up for Japan.

"Last turn Singapore fell to the imperial forces of Japan. The people of Malaya rejoice in the protective liberation force of Japan." -- Imperial Ministry of Propaganda

Balikpapan is in our sights right now. Darren mined the snot out of that hex - my invasion TF has been working over-time to clear a way thru but a few of my ships have been damaged in spite of some valiant efforts:

TF 3 encounters mine field at Balikpapan (31,64)

TF 3 troops unloading over beach at Balikpapan, 31,64

Japanese Ships
AP Conte Verde, Mine hits 1, on fire
PC Ch 20
PC Ch 16
PG Oi Maru
AP Syoka Maru, Mine hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
DD Yamagiri, on fire, heavy damage
CL Kitakami, Mine hits 1, on fire

Japanese ground losses:

59 Coastal gun shots fired in defense.
Japanese Ships
AK Yosida Maru #3
AP Ayatosan Maru
CL Oi, Shell hits 1

Japanese ground losses:
120 casualties reported

And then Darren sent over a welcoming party to help our imperial forces feel at home - it was a very warm welcome:

Night Time Surface Combat, near Balikpapan at 31,64

Japanese Ships
CL Kitakami, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
CL Oi, Shell hits 30, on fire, heavy damage
DD Yamagiri, Shell hits 2, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

AP Teikyo Maru
AP Argentina Maru
AP Brazil Maru
AP Hikawa Maru
AP Yamato Maru
AP Ayatosan Maru
AP Kasuga Maru, on fire, heavy damage
AP Mogamigawa Maru, on fire
AP Syoka Maru, on fire, heavy damage
AP Awajisan Maru
AP Ayato Maru
AP Hokuriku Maru, on fire
AK Yoko Maru, on fire, heavy damage
AK Yosida Maru #3

Allied Ships
CL Sumatra
DD Groningen
DD Katham
DD Van Speyk
DD Noordbrabant, Shell hits 1, on fire
DD Dordtrect
BC Wilem Warmont, Shell hits 2, Torpedo hits 2, on fire, heavy damage
BC Van Brakel
DD Ijseelmer
DD Van der Heyden
DD Vlieland
DD Hertog Hendrik

And to top it all off, the allies gave the Japanese forces a wonderful fireworks display:

Ground combat at Balikpapan

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 3635 troops, 64 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 82

Defending force 18397 troops, 125 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 331

Japanese ground losses:
19 casualties reported
Guns lost 1

This is a most excellent game so far - I enjoy the story line behind this mod, I'm having much fun with the new toys I get to play with in this mod, and Darren is fun to play with. He keeps things real, seems to have a good sense of strategy, and he fights with determination and grit.

Darren has me pretty well tied down in China and nothing has been a cake-walk so far.

Anyway, with forces recently freed up in the PI and now Malaya, I'm now preparing for further conquests in the name of his imperial majasty... lol

Hey - wanna C a TF with something a little strange? Tell me, what mission do you think this TF is on? <grin>

Michael,
You have been a real "slacker" when it comes to updating this AAR. [:D][:D]
Only took you 4 1/2 months to conquer Malaya. Must have been a distant relative of yours in command of the IJA. [:D][:D]
Do you have any Imperial troops on Java yet??
It would be nice if you could post a screen shot of the rest of the SRA and around southern New Guinea so we can see what is happening.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!!

Hey Michael - lol. I laid siege to Singapore foe what seemed like 4ever but I think that was part of the design. Darren had a few more troops there in this alternative history.

The PI was lotsa fun 4 me too.

I have no troops on Java yet - although some *could* be on the way - U never know - lol. But I do have to get a move on and Darren knows I need to start feeding the war machine - which takes oil and resources.

I'll toss in a few screen dumps but in truth, I've been slow and methodical to date, concentrating primarily on Malaya and the PI with Borneo as my 2ndary theatre of operations.

So how R things 4 U in life? It was a little crazy for me earlier this year @ work but things are leveling off now. Did you buy a new PC yet? Take care and have a good Thanksgiving yourself.

Thanks Michael!![&o]
Glad to see that you have been doing some conquering in other areas. It looks like KB and Co. will be busy in the months to come. [:-]

I haven't been able to afford a new PC yet and hope to do so shortly. I have my other WWII games to play (land combat in Europe), but they just don't hold my interest anymore. I got addicted to WitP and need a fix. Plan on doing two PBEM's when I get back up again. I think one as Japan with CHS (have to learn the production system sometime [8|]) and another as Allies with RHS (possibly the one that is a mod by Nemo as it would be interesting with a lot of "what if" toys).
