Good Luck Russ,

Keep yourself safe. When I was in the 1st time PT was low crawl, dodge run and jump, horizonal ladder 1 mile run and the great one of them all the hand grenade throw.[:D][:D]. I maxed the LC,HLand GT but my weakest part was the 1 mile run. I't was 6:05 for 100 and the best I ever ran was 6:30. That might not be bad but I just was fresh out of HS and I was a track guy. I had just ran a 5:08 in the previous April. never learned how to run in boots.

But anyway be safe and wish you the best. I I'm always proud of the sacrifice you are making. And let know one think this is not a sacrifice, but I always considered it an honour to give service to this country. And to serve with my fellow soldiers

Take extra care, Russ - things should be better when you get there than they were, but watch your six!

Combined Federal Campaign Coordinator. [;)]

HA! I remember those days. Give anything...ANYTHING to make thier goal. They would grovel for $2 a month (I think that was the minimum you could give). Anything for that 100% participation mark.

"No thanks, but I appreciate your efforts." That was always my reply. Anything to keep them from meeting their goal. [:D]

Hmmm. I have always wondered about that. I rejected the United Way back in the days when I worked days, where I was given the same contrived logic about 100%. I didn't care whether they made it or not. I just objected because of some of the groups they support. Why go through them when I can give direct to those groups? The way they try to force work places to give to them is reason enough for me to object.

I never shop at Kroger anymore, but I was given what I think will prove to be another of those sort of pitches to my detriment. I went in there because it was the closest place and needed only a couple of items, so I went through the self-scanners. I had a little trouble with it. Why? Oh, it appears you need a Kroger card to use it (I could be wrong). But the lady was in a sales pitch mode, and makes me up a card and runs it through the scaner to "save me money" (wow, a whole 26 cents from "their" regular prices). My whole purpose to go in there was to save time going elsewhere, and then she is trying to sign me up for some card. I tell her I don't want to spend 5 minutes for 26 cents. But she then says I can fiill it out at home if I want to, not that she gave me any choice as to whether she was going to run that card through there (of course I don't fill it out at home). Soooo, it wasn't too bad a thing, but then I get to thinking. Hmm, I used my credit card, she scanned some card into it as well. How much you want to bet I got 26 cents for becoming a part of their junk mail list?[:@]

Hi, I have all my armor and gear however on Sunday I was transferred from HHC 1-148th to HHC BSTB 37th IBCT so it looks like I am going as 92G and not a 11B (Someone must have figured out 52 is a little old for grunts)
New unit is out of Springfield Ohio. It's a much longer drive then to Walbridge.

Well danger comes in many forms - so stay alert and best of luck!

Hi, The Hell's Angels always said "3 can keep a secret if 2 of them are dead"
Deployment? I'm going in the Ohio  National Guard and will be deployed to Lima Ohio as a cook
But I'll be an E6 and I only need 3 years to retire but am enlisting for 6.  Since every year adds to retirment I think this time I will stay intill they throw me out.

Thanks for your support.  I would not mind being deployed or being full time but I don't think it is going to happen but I'll take what I have and be grateful for the chance to fix one of the major blunders of my life.  I never planned on staying out 14 years. (I failed the hearing in 2001 but passed this time around)

Thanks to Major Mike for agreeing to swear me in.
[:)] Best of luck! [:)]

Actually, you got the 26 cents for taking a Kroger Card. Some "whiz kid" figured out you were xx% more likely to shop at Kroger if you had their "discount card", so the store clerks were told to push them or lose their jobs. It's the same principal that keeps burger joints asking "would you like fries with that?" and "would you like to supersize that?" even when you told them EXACTLY what you wanted.

Another purpose of the Kroger card is to assist in store inventory and let them know what the poular items are, not just for the month, but by the individual store.
Credit card purchases allow those same consumer buying habits to go to the credit card companies(mailing lists), but using the Kroger card (and store cards) allows an internal record of your purchases.
I do not feel this intrusive, in fact, I am sure I can go to my favorite local stores and find the products I want..
