Nazis? Where? They were sacked from power... The ss units are needed now, but they will be disbanded after the war (don't tell them <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> ). Germany has to defend herself against the bolschevik aggresion!
Back to the front:
The offense continued on the southern front as several soviet armies were defeated and forced to retreat. Stalino was encircled but unluckily our panzers run out of steam and failed to destroy the garrison this week. The soviet air attacks in the northern regions will be handled without weakaning the southern Luftwaffe forces! Good news on the production as in a month the improved tigers will roll out of the factories. These königtigers will dominate even the newest soviet tanks with ease. We await the soviet ground offense in the central and northern regions with confiedence, as the O.K.H. left here enough panzer reserves to help out the defence line.

It actually is working overall about like I planned, mainly because we are using Ed's wirhack. I was aiming for a reverse Barbarossa where the Soviets must cripple the Germans early or get pushed back, and that is what is happening. I have made a few changes, and need to prevent the Luftwaffe coming on so strong early to give the Soviets a chance at the start. I don't know what to do for later though, as this will make the Soviets do much better, which may make the German counterstroke impossible with the current restrictions. It may work about right though.Originally posted by Lokioftheaesir:

So a soviet assault on the peaceloving reich (empty ny stomach) was a bad move. Good try but it looks as though the inherent superiority of the axis side will win through.

The Red Air Force pulled back in the north to recuperate for further battles, if blizzards return especially. A number of attacks were launched along the front, with the most important, striking at the panzers northeast of Stalino, failing. However, the infantry units appear to be weakening, with even untouched ones not putting up an extremely hard defense. The snow turned to mud on the ground as temperatures warmed, and rain mixed with snow fell across the steppe.

The infatrymen in the south complain about extreme tiredness because of the great distances they have to cover. But still they are expected to withstand soviet counterstrikes much more effectively in the future! In this rainy weather the only action was the renewed encirclment of Stalino. This time the garrison was forced to surrender. This succes was made possible by the very strong support of the Luftwaffe which softened up the soviet defense considerably before the panzers attacked.

Counterattacks were launched in the mud to punish the invaders of our country, but most failed to get started in the heavy rains. However, the thaw was followed by blizzards that may allow the brave soldiers of the Soviet Union a chance to attack harder than ever.

We went into defence in this awfull weather. Hopefully the soviet is not strong enough to threaten our slightly overextended lines. The only action this turn is a sneak attack against a rear airfield of the enemy. This time our bombers met large soviet fighter groups and gave their lives for Germany in a short heroic fight.

Taking advantage of the heavy blizzards, which have been so rare over the past two winters, Stalin ordered heavy counterattacks against the invaders, especially in the Ukraine. The German soldaten appeared surprised by the severity of the bad weather this far east in the Ukraine, and almost all attacks were successful. Unfortunately, the strong panzer forces along the front resulted in the attacks not being driven home, even though the enemy was thrown back many miles in most cases. There was even some success in the air in the central front area, as long range Yak 9 groups, with very high experience, flew long distances to achieve a decent loss ratio against intercepting jet fighters, losing around 4 fighters for every 3 jets shot down or damaged. This is encouraging as the La5FN is a much better plane, but they are being held back to improve the training before commitment to battle.

As the first step on the way to Moscow the panzers attacked in the Kursk area. The panzercommanders have now much more sympathy for the beaten infantry as the bruttaly strong soviet defense line stopped 2 out of 3 attacks despite heavy air support. That's why they beat the crap out of the infantry! So it seems used the time given to them by the clearing the southern parts of the front. We have to admit that the offensive to capture Moscow started with soviet deffensive succes. But there is no need to worry as strong panzer forces are ariving to beef up the offense. Further counterattacks were launched at the Germans, but they were much more costly this turn, as the Wehrmacht does so much better in the snow. Some air combat occured but without any good result. Most forces spent the week trying to dig into the frozen ground.

Our offense continued now with 7 panzer korpses in the Kursk area. The soviet armies stoping us last week were overwhelmed and a breakthrough was achieved. As result Kursk was encircled in a big pocket containing 5 armies. 1 army was already destroyed from this 5. The panzers went into defense and await the soviet counters before finishing off the remaining 4 soviet armies.

Comrade Stalin ordered an all out effort to free the armies trapped around Kursk, but although some success was achieved with the destruction of an entire Infantry Korps, the Wehrmacht kept the pocket sealed tight. Losses in the air were heavy for us also as the Red Air Force entered the fight in fairly large numbers. Stalin was unhappy, but the weather took a turn for the worse with blizzards hitting again, giving our forces a chance to hold in the bad weather.

Our infantry seemingly is very near total exhaustion. But the victory has a prize, which this time the infantry had to pay. All 7 panzer korpses went into offense in the Kursk area to destroy the large soviet pocket. With the help of the infantry and large luftwaffe forces the panzers succesfully forced all 4 armies to surrender even in this horrific weather. As result Kursk fas fallen in our hands. The Soviet air force defended the forces in the pocket with elite La5FN's. As result air losse were quite heavy for both sides. We hope for better weather, to continue our offense.

An ominous bulge is forming in the central part of the front, threatening the units near the Polish frontier from the rear, Moscow, and all points south. The La5FN units were pulled back after an attack on airfields supporting the panzers, due to heavy losses against the Me262s, who destroy almost every plane hit. Only one attack was launched, as preparations were made to defend to the death.

No real action in the ground as the bad weather continued. The Luftwaffe bombed the enemy troops heavily to soften up the defence before our next offense. Our intelligence reports unbroken fighting spirit in the red army, which somewhat concerns us. The enemy has been punished real hard for over a year now, and there is still no sign of weakening, and there is always a place to retreat in this endless plains.

The Red Army attacked in a few locations but all attacks were stopped in their tracks. The air was quiet as the units are resting and training for the spring onslaught. Fortunately, the blizzards continued for the third straight week, but weather forecasts call for clearing weather and mud soon.

Taking advantage of the blizzard weather, the North Army Group airfields were bombed with heavy losses to planes on the ground, although the fighters did not appear to suffer much. However, they totally missed the follow up attack on Danzig that damaged the Me262 factory. A few ground attacks were launched in the blizzard, but without success. However, the line south of Riga appears weak, and air power was massed in this area taking control of the air-over 1000 fighters against 150, with most of the German fighters and bombers committed to action being lost. And Stalin celebrated as the blizzards continued for another week.

In bad weather hordes of soviet figters massed in periferial area can wrestle the air suppriority from us for a few weeks, but this won't save Moscow as we have total air suppriority on any place we really want to have it. In the southern area our bombers struck back at enemy airfields near Stalingrad destroying nearly 500 enemy planes. We are preparing for the war ending summer offense. The lines in the north will hold off desperate soviet counterattacks until total victory.

This report is from a new propaganda minister, as the last one lost his job, and his life, during the failed Luftwaffe attacks on our airfields. That is why the public announcement of our great successes were not released for the prior week. The entire front is stuck in mud and rainy weather, making major offensive moves impossible. However, sharp artillery bombardments of the invaders resulted in heavy losses to them as unentrenched men attempted to hide in shellholes and drowned in the bottomless mud. Also, a number of poorly trained pilots were identified flying the enemy jets, allowing our Yak9s to fight a group of them to a draw with equal losses on both sides, in one battle.
