I didn't realize you have holes in both feet RJ! My sympathies. [:(]

That is okay, they don't cause me pain. They even came that way.

Mike, any updates on the house construction?....GP

We didn't visit the house this past weekend because we were over there last Wednesday to meet with the guy who will be installing the cable/internet/phone/alarm wiring. At that time I took a lot of detailed pictures. Mostly I recorded the position of all the wiring, plumbing, and duct work that will be behind the walls once the drywall goes up. None of them showed any real progress so I didn't share any here.

The one notable item of progress was them getting the well connected to the water supply lines for the house. The pipe/hose and the power cable for the well pump are at the bottom of about a 2 foot deep trench between the well and the house.

I intend to visit again this coming weekend to look for more signs of progress. We're eager to get to the "pre-drywall" inspection meeting where we should then have a relatively solid date for closing.

Water is important, but you are lucky that you can get by with only burying it two feet. Some places bury the water lines 6 feet deep and they still freeze. But those places you can be like somebody and walk on deep water without getting your feet wet. [;)]

Dry walls are also important - wet walls don't work out too well. [;)]

One of my nephews had size 16 or 17 feet. When he was 4 years old he would eat three packages of cooked ramen noodles an hour before supper and it would not affect his appetite.

If you are burying all that wiring you may want to consider putting it all in a conduit. That way if you ever need to replace or add wires you won't have to dig things up, just pull things through. Building projects!

Make the original conduit a bit oversized because adding a wire in a tight conduit is really tough. The electricians/telecom guys have to put a special grease on the wires to pull them through and even then they sweat a lot. If you haven't already done it, consider putting in fiber optic cable so you will be ready for 5G speeds. If you don't feel you need it yet, have the cable in the pipe, ready to hook up when the time comes.

Some good suggestions. The only wire that is buried so far is the power line for the well pump. It is in a conduit.

BTW, RJ, we are quite lucky to have the weather we do have here. When the pool is finished we won't have to "close" it in the Winter. We will have a thermostat on the pool pump that kicks on if the air temp gets to around 34F to keep the water circulating through the pipes. It never stays below freezing long enough here to have the pool water freeze as long as we keep it moving. [:)]

In other words, you can have those blood sucking mosquitoes all year long.

Build a sauna, then jump into the pool. Although it won't quite be the same as jumping into a cold, frozen lake.

Used to do that on Bad Medicine Lake in Minnesota near (Itasca Headwaters of the Mississippi). We camped near a resort and used their sauna then jump into the lake. A bunch of steaming guys diving into the lake at night. It was great. quite a few Finns in Northern Minnesota. And Swedes And Norski's. And Icelandics. This area is lousy with Scandinavians. Oufta! Out number us Czechs, Poles and Germans

A lot of Ukrainians in Southern Manitoba. Onion dome churches all over the place.

I have read where NE Minnesota looks a lot like country of Finland in Northern Europe. A lot of people from Finland also settled in Thunder bay, Ontario in Big Canada Land. But Finns could be either from the Finn tribe or from what we call the country of Finland - even if they are not true Finns. [;)]

The Headwaters of the Mississippi is the outlet from Itasca Lake in Itasca Lake State Park in Minnesota. You can normally wade across the Mississippi there since it is usually only ankle deep there. Then go to New Orleans and tell people that you waded across the Mississippi. [:D]

The Mississippi is about 70 million years old, the Missouri is only about 2 million years old.
