Deliberate given what happened in Nemo's AAR I am being a little more cautious than normal.

It's actually a relief to hear to say that as I thought I was just being dense! [:D]

[:D][:D] This operation has taken months to set up moving this many ships and convoys south round the bottom of the Marquesas with some going via Capetown and then hiding most of them down in South Australia was a big effort.

The achilles heel is fuel 7th Fleet just replenished to 100% fuel but it empties my replenishemnt TF all 90k fuel (BB's are real gas hogs)

I have about 100k in tankers art Perth with another 200k en route from Capetown/Abadan in the next three weeks.

300k more is at Aukland and can be brought forward.

But 600k fuel in theatre is actually pretty light for a full Fleet Operation

I have sent the AO's back to Capetown to refill but the return journey is about 40 days so 600k is all I have for the next few month so I need to watch full speed sprints.

I have plenty of supplies but would feel a lot better with 2m fuel

One base is not enough if I can get 3 or 4 good sized Airbases each with 2 Divs plus Seabeas and basde forces he will never shift me and I can pull back the fleet and rely on LBA to drive into Borneo and the Celebes or north to Java in 44

Still no sign of KB thats the only thing that has me slightly concerned he has show several small SCTF's to hit me at Darwin and I have shown him weakness buyt letting him interdict my supply routes but I do have 10,000 supply at Darwin now so I can operate air units for a while so I have 300 P38's, P47's and B24's at Darwin with many Marine SBD's and Corsairs eready to move onto newly captured air bases if I can take them

Aye, best to be careful. The guy who deliberately spilled the beans on my AAR is someone I've seen reading yours. So, my advice is not to give ANY further details until you are a day out. I just wouldn't take the risk as by his own words good play is proof of cheating and this hit looks like it is going to be quite successful ( and thus prone to his misinterpretation ).

One query though... Without naming names etc... Are you planning to ship supplies in or are you hoping to supply the landings from bases captured in the Java/Sumatra area.
John Dillworth: "I had GreyJoy check my spelling and he said it was fine."
Well, that's that settled then.

The ulitmate strategic goal is to pick up where I left off with the Hydra offensive just muinus the CENTPAC bits until I get more carriers.

All my carriers now have F6F's and 70/70 pilots I have lots of supporting air units ready to storm forward the next turn will bring me into strike range and he will 100% spot me if he hasnt already

500k supplies are in follow on TF's with a lot more support units my 1st Amphib TF is all loaded in very fast transports capable of 4/4 moverment this was deliberqate as it gives me a lot of flexibility for the 1st landing wave - it also has a lot of APA's

The biggest weakness will come on the first days landing if the diversion has worked I can safely use my CAG's for CAS with only a few on Naval attack to deal with light SAG's

If it hasnt I need to concentrate more of my force onto Naval Attack.

I have 3 CVE's loaded with nothing but replenishment Gps tomorrow I will unload 50% of those Sqns of SBD's to North Australia this will increase my fighting strength by 80 F6F's as those CVE;s will no longer be overloaded.

I am hoping once he spots me that my ability to sprint the last 8 hexes wil catch him by surprise

The lead amphib TF has a very strong close escort

The Battleships USS Colorado is the flagship with HMS Resoulution in support with 2 Cruisers USS Raleight and HMAS Adeilade plus a mixed TF of 8 RN/RAN and USN Destroyers.

So its well protected but I am still fearfull of a Yamato or Musashi led TF supported by some nasty japanese Cruisers

All my amphib TF's are covered by a similar sized close escort force with more distand protection provided by Ching Lee's fast battleship force

Hi Aandy , As a reader for PzB's AAR i wont comment on your ops in any way , but as an allied player have you considered hitting the cocos islands ? . yes its a crap port but with the naval supprt unit from colombo in there you can refuel anything (at port 2), and all ammo from a CA downward , also a great place for AE/AD/AS combo , and mobile docks (i dont have any yet in my PBEM). also well out of escorted bomber range from java too.

I know this is just a tad late as advice but given scotlands performace in the 6 nations you need all the help you can get [;)].

Best of luck
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

D Day - 2

7th Fleet was spotted by Japanese forces today about 500 miles from its initial objective.

My CAP was only 300 fighters sop I am a little concerned about that however tomorrow the main strikes begin.

Bombers from Port Hedland and Darwin will hit various bases in the DEI to try and knock down some of those bases.

main carrier effort will be against one base in particular I am however stuck a little - I need to keep at least 50% of my carrier bombers on naval duty just in case KB is close.

Sub screen has not reported and I think they were last in the Marshalls but I cannot be 100% sure.

Anyway we shall see what we shall see.

10th AF hit Magwe in strength 290 Bomber sorties and 120 fighter a good sized strike that found no one at home

RE: 7th Fleet - CHARGE

Post by Andy Mac »

Problems problems the 1srt wave is ready to go in 60,000 men but PZB has 8,000 at my destination which is not good. 8,000 in rough jungle say lvl 5 forts might be difficult to take.

The real issue is wave 2 and 3 have been held up they are about 10 days behind wave 1 my co ordination has stunk a little (they fueled up 3 turns in a row reducing speed to 1 /0 hex which is a problem as they have dropped behind my main carrier force)

My main landing site looks well defended the alternate is weakly held but the alternate landing forces are 10 days behind....

Need to think about this a little more

I am committed but more worried than I was about this....

Thats 200 AV of Garrison - I have about 3.5 Divs landing - might not be enough even if I throw the kitchen sink at it from the air

Well, you're committed now. Land and rely on your naval and land-based bombers to disrupt the enemy sufficiently to drop their adjusted AV enough for you to take it.

Well, that's that settled then.

RE: 7th Fleet - CHARGE

Post by Andy Mac »

Thwe landing went in and as expected a c 200 AV garrison

My air attacks on his ground units have been pitifull in effect so my confidence is sinkiong.

On the other hand

Patch's XIV Corps HQ is ashore, tyhe whole of the 73rd Motorised Bde and a bde each of the 3 Inf Divs and they are all in supply and low disruption - 100 prep plus APA's

Looks like Endeh is relatively uinguarded which meansd I made the qwrong choice for my fast assault force

Force E is still 8 days steaming away KB will be on site by them for certain.

Sigint indicates at least one jap Div is at sea so I need to watch out.

6/35th Division is loaded on a Japanese xAK moving to Soerabaja.

Given the intact nature of my landing force I am going to try an assault tomorrow about 600 AV plus whatever lands in the day - not expecting to win but would be nice to see what I am facing in fort terms.

Today I lost 30 Hellcats for 60 Japanese Fighters. Not great returns but I had VF42 pre positioned at Darwin - I will wait one day then fly them in to take over from a shattered Sqn

Australian paratroopers have secured two 0 AF, 1 Port bases not ideal but if I can at least get them to lvl 1 AF they could be usefull

The first attack tomorrow will determine whether this will work or not.

Odds are pretty irrelevant I need to knock ouit Japanese squads and fast
