98) How many times did Japanese submarines shell the United States west coast?
Once, February 23, 1942 Japanese submarine I-17 bombed California.
Depicted in the motion Picture "1941" I believe.

Edit : February 1942, not February 1941.

Public access to Google Forms is such a hassle. I am going to have to switch if this doesn't resolve.

Yes, that's correct.

Tiger I
Elephant
Tiger II
Sturmtiger
Jagdtiger

Most people forget that the Elephant was made off of the Tiger chassis.

Good Hunting.

Except that it is wrong.
I Googled it, and found out a second bombing :

23 February 1942 : A Japanese submarine (I-17) makes the first attack on the American mainland by shelling an oil refinery at Ellwood, California.
28 August 1942 : A Japanese seaplane catapulted from submarine I-25 and drops firebombs on forests in Oregon, USA causing a forest fire.

There may be more.

What is the largest successful military operation of all time?
The attack on Berlin?

18) Which Allied AFV had the main gun pointing over the rear of the vehicle instead of facing forward?
2-pdr portee?

29) Which German fighter aircraft had an engine and propeller at both the front and the back of the aircraft?
Do 335? Dont think it was operational though. It is in WiF.

39) What American piece of equipment soon came to be feared by Allied tankers after it's introduction into combat?

The Panzerfaust & Panzerschreck? Both copies of the Bazooka

48) Which Allied fighter is credited with destroying more Axis aircraft than any other?
Its a russian fighter no doubt. I try a shot at the Mig-3.

43) What does the term "cat fur" refer to when talking about German tanks?
Hehe, never heard that before, but the "cats" had a layer of Zimmerit - antimagnetic paste.

Berlin was not the largest successful military operation of all time.

18) The 2-pdr portee was not an Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV). But an antitank gun mounted on the back of a truck. It did face backwards though. That's not what I'm looking for in this case though.

29)Yes, it was the Dornier 335 Pfeil.

39) The Panzerschreck is correct. I was a copy of the bazooka which the Germans captured in Tunisia. The Panzerfaust is not a copy of the bazooka.

43) Hehe, never heard that before, but the "cats" had a layer of Zimmerit - antimagnetic paste. Zimmerit is not what cat fur refers to.

48) No, the Mig-3 is not correct.

Good Hunting.

The British Archer

Probably the Italians....

29) Which German fighter aircraft had an engine and propeller at both the front and the back of the aircraft?
Ta 335 I think. Or Do335. Can't quite remember now.

46) The T-34 was the most produced vehicle by the Soviet Union. What was the second most produced vehicle?
Will have a stab. BT-7

50) What plane did the Japanese call the "Whistling Death"?
F4U Corsair

Leigh

12) Malta is the axis bombed one. Where was the Allied bombed one?

18) Yes, the British Archer is correct.

Who was the "one-shot lighter" ?

Who was? Or what was?

The Sherman was known as the one shot lighter, the Ronson and the Tommy Cooker because it caught fire after being hit almost anywhere. There is a documented case of a Sherman catching fire after being hit on the drive sprocket.

Good Hunting.
