Yes and no.

I have refilled my operational sqns pilots more or less with trained pilots and have managed to equip all CVR Sqns with a full compliment of rookies that are currently using the training command (50%) to train or for 3 of the 40 - 50xp Helldiver and TBM Sqns operating in Borneo. Until they get to 40xp I wont use any sqn.

My carrier fleet is in 3 main sub fleets at present

Darwin and in the TF off java 4 CV's/4 CVL's
- the TF operatign off Java has Bennington and Ticonderoga which both have a 40 plane Hellcat Sqn a 36 plane Corsair Sqn and 16 plane Helldiver or TBM Sqn

En Route to Rabaul from West Coast 5 CV's/ 1 CVL

West Coast in refit 5 CV's/ 3 CVL's

There any bipassed islands you could use for target practice? You get so much more XP bombing nothings than you do in training seems unfair that only PZB should get the "easy" training

And you don't have to do it all the time. Sail next to a base, bomb it for 3-4 days. Move to next.. etc. And so you gain up to a month or more of constant bombing before you go to front lines. Guaranteed to up your xp to 60's.

OK its been a busy few days I have taken Wotje and will continue cleaning up my rear areas.

Banja has fallen and the next wave is loading I am scrabbling around to find base forces and aviation regts I am quite short of these units and need more at the front.

I have plenty of seabees but I need more base forces.

String you are correct but I dont want to ground train my FB's aleady get to much XP doing that. I will wait and see how it works out.

Why shouldn't you do the same as PzB? I read here and in his AAR that he trains his pilots in China. [&:]

Philosophical objection to it.

Game is on hold because of a pilot bug PZB has to deal with

Probably something hardcoded into the game.

Probably something hardcoded into the game.

I would hope not because it doesn't make sense for dozens of trained pilots to just disappear, especially as it only affects the Japanese.

Hopefully it is a minor issue and easily corrected.

How many pilots did he lose is it catastophic for him or is he just sitting it out based on principal?

Any news from PzB?? Would be a shame to see this game end due to a technical fault. A grand total of well over 200,000 hits on the combined AARs for this one show a fair degree of interest i say.

Anyway, good luck Andy. At least the time off gives you a chance to carefully plan the next round of offensives.

All quiet just waiting on PZB to do a turn this was a game breaker but I think we have a solution so when PZB does the turn we will proceed.

Andy,
Congrats on a game well played. Always tough picking up someone elses pieces - you've done well..... except for your passion for sacrificing paras!![:-] With you as CinC i would have told the army to stick their extra 50 quid!

But.... Pzb is a little predictable in his response to your para drops. Maybe you can ambush him?? Choose a target, set up LOTS of subs on his approach, ensure plenty of 4+ AF in range for LBA, some PT boats, and of course a good surface fleet and carriers undetected close by. Drop in the paras, wait for his response, and bite him off.
Not a game winner, but you might bag a nice collection of AK/APs with escorts, plus a few assault units - a fair trade for all your para units.

More importantly, you need some size 5 or 7 bases in B29/B17/B24 range of China. Hit one of his cheating (whoops, i meant 'training'!) bases with 400 B29s in one turn it will really slow down his version of the Empire Air Training Scheme. I have not looked at a standard map for awhile, but are there any possibilities?? Even in the Nth Pac?

Yup my army is a bad one to be a para in !!!

I may I am not sure I figure my willing ness to sacrifice troops on these gambles has probably achieved its objective already - redeployment to the rear of Japanese ground forces.

I am moving on thew lvl 6 base at teh NW of Borneo to do just that !!!

A few quiet turns as my fleet move north and I redeploy and sieze a few rear area bases.

I have 4 TF's heading North towards Borneo

About the most significant item this week has been the destruction of the Brunei oil fields by my Superforts out of Wasile
