Leo, et. al., I never played 'Elite'. Is it a freeware online version of a typical space exploitation game (e.g., Master of Orion)?
I loved Master of Orion II

Afternoon.... I used to post on the old WitP thread years ago under an old login, was wondering if 'T' is still around, or maybe on a short ban again? [:D]

LOL, he has been on a "Matrix imposed vacation", but it ended a while ago. He's now on a "self imposed vacation" from the forum. [:D]

Thanks Mike, see some things don't change, but sort of miss his grumpy post though. [;)]

Welcome to the democracy. The way it works is, we all get a vague illusion of having the power to choose our own fates, once every 4 years we get a reality check that our opinions really dont matter and then we spend the next 4 years complaining about it. [:D]
It my case being a skeptic , I vote for the person I think is lying the least. But then also being a pessimist, start complaining about it almost immediately. [;)]
But does the paranoiac in your realize that you may never truly know which one of them is actually lying the least? [;)]

What have you done to me!!! [:D]
Now, after all those years I discover free Elite with myriad (500+) add-ons! [:)]
Oh my time... [8D]
What is it? [X(]
In essence the "Oolite" is freeware (under GNU General Public License version 2) version of good old "Elite" with community development and 500+ Add-Ons that members created (able to add to "vanilla" flavor "Oolite" that is essentially original "Elite)! [:)]
It is 25+ MB program for MS Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
With Add-Ons (several GB in size) you get advanced 3D models and beautiful textures for planets, nebulas, space ships and space stations!
Examples:
Oolite Main Page

Oolite Instruction Manual

Hi all,
"Elite" was the one and only - the very first (and from 1984)! [:)]
It is flight sim combined with exploration, adventure and trade - nothing can compare to "Elite"... [;)]

Hi all,
Rather hard IIRC... the manual flying and docking to space station is very hard thing...
But commitment is rewarded - the flying skills increase in time and it was great fun to do all things!
