Also, I'm sure Admiral Lord SPrior would agree. No more racist caricatures. We are trying to go high-brow. [:)]

What he means is when we swap sides and do it all again that we will, of course, disown you all.

Clark: We send Radioman 1st Class Glen "Sparks" Campbell and the entire crew of Wichita to bombard, but it's just not as much fun without the Willie Pete rounds. Trying to degrade all the damn bypassed WJD airfields on Luzon so we can give our damn fighters a rest. We are aided by a friendly seagull who braves the explosions to call the fall of shot. Generoso, whose entire family was run over by a Jap Ronson back in '42(c) has vowed to "kill every last one of the little yellow baaahstards". He used to try to poison them by dive bombing their fish-head soup but taught himself semifore signals when the US Navy showed up. Just one of the many stories in the War in the Pacific.

Operation . Horycrappo-jima. Buildable to level 7 airfield. Crappy port, sure, within range of Jap bases Okinawa, sure, Formosa bases all at 100%, sure...but look at it this way...the beaches are so empty. [:)]

Well "Horycrappo-jima" alias Miyako-Jima has some other redeeming features of note. The stacking limit is 60,000 ! A lot of engineers can be brought up as soon as a port and support can be landed. It's partner next door Ishigaki is similar with a stacking limit of 40,000, port (1)1 air 0(4); Irimonte is the lesser of the 3 islands having a n air of 0(2) .. Funny but I believe the fortress is on Irimonte? A JFB can correct me... I do like the fact that the Allies now can isolate these islands with Army air platforms that will not need drop tanks.[Naha 4 hexes away Takao 6]
I am not sure how the map can ignore such a crucial place and emphasize the smallest base of the three ... I am with the Cap' that I suspect the IJ have also in kind ignored this little jewel sitting between Formosa and Oki ..
I would bet that One thing is for certain attacking this target ... The IJA/IJN would be committing aircraft in gobs from both Naha and Formosa ... one huge air contest in late '43 ... One I propose that the Allies can control by isolating supplies from Naha and Formosa ...

RE: Wound my heart with a monotonous languor
Luzon/Leyte: Aparri was hit by B-24's from Mindanao with only moderate success. JJ is still putting Tojos up in the air as CAP. Baybay (Leyte) gets absolutely plasterized by the medium bombers again. Many damaged airframes on the ground there.
Aparri, San Fernando, Laoag and Cabantuan are the undamaged/minimally damaged JJ airfields on Luzon. So far, they have not put planes at Cabantuan or Laoag. Tuguegarao actually flipped over to Allied control. Babay is pretty well wrecked as is Davao.
Iolio (Panay), Bacolod and Cebu are still in JJ control and might be used but have not been so far. Don't know about their supply or aviation support status.

Burma: Continued air assault on Mandaray by USAAF and RAF mediums and Vengeance bombers.
75 WJD bombers are spotted at Pegu (the sneaky, inscrutable LYB's). We try to hit them at night but miss. Probably intel is too low. We continue walking around the jungle to go around Prome.

It has been my experience that a ground attack with disruption and fatigue leads to more disruption and fatigue ... a massed B24 attack will lead to disabled and destroyed squads ... evening the score here ..

yes, Iriomte has a fortress garrison..as do Pescadores and Nago (NE Okinawa). I think Takao has a fortress too. Maybe Taihoku in NE Formosa as well?
Taking Rearrybadahfeering-jima (Ishigaki) to have mutually supporting bases is a good idea if we can find enough APA's and LST's (not sure we can).
