The war has been raging for around 6 months and I see Japan is down nearly 3000 planes. Isn't that quite massive for the middle of 1942?

Even if his economy is powering along and he's producing many planes, Japan's pilot training program would not be able to produce adequate pilots to keep up with losses. He must be attriting himself... Are you noticing any qualitative decline in his air combat capabillty?

I'm no noticing anything of that...also because the only place where our air forces are facing each other is Eniwetok...and there he has the KB!...

A quiet day. KB left Truk...lost any contact with it.

At Karachi he intercepted my barges with a DD TF...

The Pocket

Post by Gen.Hoepner »

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/20/42

The pocket gets closed again...the jap tanks are really fast!! They marched all over the fields and closed the door just South of Chungking...i really doubt at this stage we will be able to save anything south of Chungking...

I would be afraid of a bombardment run now.. BTW if you check the operational report, you should be able to recognize how many carrier capable units he is using on his CV.

An ASW-campaign is a good idea. And until the threat is gone you should use at least one destroyer in every TF with troops or other valuable assets. These Australian MSWs are nice, but a destroyer crew is usually twice as experienced and a DD captain is a better TF leader.

Do you have a corps or two in Chungking now? If yes, then I would cross the river and assault that tank unit with them. That's the fastest way to open that road.

I'm trying to defend my TFs Bogo...but i really have a LOT of them moving around and cannot defend properly them all! My DDs must first defend my main warships (i still remember that the Saratoga is docked at SF with 33 sys because of a damned lonely sub!!!)
At Chungking i only have the 2 static corps...[:(]...i'm dumb, i know[:o]

I think one DD for every troop carrying TF west of Hawaii should be possible. You don't have dozens of such TFs, do you? Your ASW-campaign needs one DD in each TF, too. The quality of the DD is not that important - you can use those obsolete Dutch DDs and others which are not so useful to protect the warships. (Rule of thumb: Look at the endurance of the ship. Good destroyers usually have high endurance et vice versa. Everything lower than 4000 should be prefered for merchant escort and ASW duties.)

Yes, i'm trying to protect most of my important TFs, but till now i'm using MSW,PGs and PCs...i'll try to use more DDs in it.

However guys. The KB is still at Truk (i've spotted the replenishment TF so i assume the KB should be nearby). Tomorrow we'll start bombing back Ponape with my bombers at Eniwetok.
1 division, 1 RCT, 3 Eng units and some base forces are moving towards Noumea, then to PM.

In India, my CVs are out of the Aden Channell...he spotted me...now let's see how he will react!

My Pacific fleet is re-grouping at PH, waiting for the Wasp to come in.

June is close. In June finally we'll start producing the B-24s...75 per month!! With these beauties my strenght in terms of long range bombing will be higher...And we''ll keep on keeping the pressure on Truk!

LOL...[:D]

With China that soon will be a Japanese colony, we have to speed it up the process in the pacific. I need to get to Ponape before he can send reinforcements there. And i need to keep the KB in the pacific.
By the end of June i hope to be able to have in line 4 CVs again at PH.
We're shifting some forces from CENTPAC to New Caledonia and New Guinea. supplies, fuel and oil are already on the route to Oz.

...and i have a brand new secret plan for India...but i need few more days to think about it[:)]

Hi Fishbed.
after what happened with my latest request to not to use paras on a non-dot/base hex in China...i decided to stop complaining and, above all, to stop asking him anymore.
It's clear that he "reads" these requests on mine as a whining childish request "you're kicking my butt, i don't like to lose, so i ask you to stop winning or i do quit"...something like that. Well, i hate to be pedant and i hate to appear a whiner, even if i do believe that i have, at least, some reasons to complain.
So my policy now is: simply stop asking and accept this state of things...and rely on his feelings of fairplay and justice. I'll stick my behaviour on what i do feel fair and won't retaliate acting in the same way.
Above all...i'm having lot of fun playing this match, so i fear that, asking too much, would break this "toy"

In my opinion General, you've already won this game. Hats off to to you sir [&o]

( if I read this game correctly, your still having fun and your opponent is probably too busy making rationalizations to even remember its just a game )

And above all, you can use his "tactic" against him in the future if you will want to.. Many of those nasty tricks can be used by both sides.. Pandoras box is open.. You are on the receiving end now, but it´s going to change soon. You will get more and more toys to play with.

Na dont retaliate the landing in non base hexes is a bug involving a work around to get there...some of them like how you get BB's into transport fleets IMO are fine but this one is a mechanic weirdo and you should ignore it and carry on.

I fully understand why you are not raising these any more I also felt like a whiny child in one of my games so I quit. My opponent and I just had a frame of reference that was too far apart (so it wasnt for mechanic issues like you are facing) and while he was very honourable I didnt like how the game was and would have made me feel as I felt I was complaining every 5 minutes because it wasn't a game I thought I had signed up for. (as it happens one of my biggest WITP regrets is that I walked away from that game as I think it would have been great fun if I could have shifted my terms of reference)

So I would say stick it out dont make the mistake I made of walking away from an enjoyable game - the fact that your opponent is pulling a few questionable moves well dont retaliate just beat him.
