I love the 15 Echo, but the 16XL definitely has the better look.[:D]

You so crazy. You probably think the Draken looked good too.

F-16XL

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Dynamics_F-16XL

An interesting option for the deep strike fighter competition eventually won by the F-15E Strike Eagle. I love the 15 Echo, but the 16XL definitely has the better look.[:D]

I used to fly those all the time back in the old GDW Air Superiority and Air Strike games!

Loved those games! Still have them but nobody to play with these days. Also have the Speed of Heat version that added all the early jets as well. As I start to get a handle on making scenarios in CMANO, I'm definitely going to start examining some of the more interesting air-to-air battles from that era!

LOL Hellfish! Why yes, the Draken is a nice looking bird, though I find the Viggen even better looking!

[ADDED DB v438]

(Posting it on the behalf of Excroat3 as he can't do it by himself yet)

#2252 North Korea 531 Najin (Kola Copy) 2004

would have been updated:

At Nampho the outdated anti-ship missiles, aft 57mm dual cannon, Drum Tilt fire-control radar and surface search radar were removed, and several new systems were installed. Most clearly identifiable are two 30mm automated turrets at the aft, likely based on the Soviet AK-630 CIWS. These systems are quite capable at providing close-in protection against aircraft or guided munitions, yet fail to give a 360- degree radius of cover, leaving the bow of the ship vulnerable.

At Pip’agot Kim Jong Un was seen inspecting a rack used for mounting four Kh-35 anti-ship missiles, placed in the midsection of the ship which used to house the two P-15/HY-2/KN-01 anti-ship missiles. Although not visible on existing imagery, it is likely that there are four of these racks considering the space available; meaning the refit Najin-class has at least eight Kh-35 missiles ready to fire.

While the 100mm guns might have been included in the new design because their replacement requires too much room to place, the 57mm dual cannon at the bow and the six 2M3 25mm dual cannons especially serve little purpose on the new refit version of the Najin-class. Therefore, it is likely that the ship’s modernization program is still ongoing, yet continuing at Pip’agot naval base instead of at Nampho. Plausible future modifications might be the replacement of the 2M3s by with the DPRK’s indigenously-designed six-barreled 14.5mm Gatling cannon, the placement of short-range surface -to -air missile systems and more modern radars (although these may already have been fitted).

As I cannot post links yet, I had Jan post for me. But I would like to warn you, try to copy down the information from that page as quick as possible, for after a certain amount of time, the page will not let you continue to read unless you subscribe. Thanks!

Agusta Westland AW139 - HH139

Hi! The variant HH is used by Italy Air Force for SAR missions, replacing the old HH-3F
and the HH-212.

The Yakovlev Yak-130 has already been requested by several others and, as far as I was told, is supplied with sufficient informations. Just wait and see if it's in the next update or the one after that.

[FIXED DB v438]

Minor issue: SS-21 Scarab B (Tochka U) (#584, #650 and #1452) has incorrect service dates. It is still operational in Russian Army while the DB incorrectly has 2006 as 'Until' date.

[FIXED DB v438]

Hi guys,

I've been playing the "Detect, Deter, Defend" scenario (I think that's the name), and am having fun with it.

I did find a couple of database anomalies with some of the aircraft.

The F-101B never carried 20mm cannon.  It was only the A and C (single seat) models which did.  The B had the 2+2 flip rack of Falcons/Genies on the bottom.

The F-102 never carried the Genie rocket.  It was tested, I think on the YF-102, but never progressed past that point.  I'm unsure, if the Deuce carried the nuke Falcons, though.

Hope this helps.

[CORRECTED DB v438]

Did a little bit of research on the SA-22 Greyhound [Pantsir-S1]. Stumbled accross pictures of the Iraqi version which does employ a different search radar than other units exported elsewhere. So, the Database gives all SA-22s a radar designated as Hot Shot [2L80 Pantsir S1]. Ausairpower.net does mention an aquisition radar designated as 2RL80 and developed by the Russian company VNIIRT. Except Ausairpower.net, I couldn't find any other source (except those linking to the article...) claiming the existence of any sensor that bears this name. I checked the company website of VNIIRT for sensors produced for the Pantsir-S1.

http://www.vniirt.ru/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10&Itemid=20

RLM SOC S-Band radar fitted onto the Iraqi and supposedly Syrian SA-22 Greyhound.

The 1RS1-1E that is in use with the Russian and UAE's SA-22 Greyhound.

It appears that the 1RS1-1E and RLM SOC S-Band have been merged into the 2L80 Pantsir S1(2LR80/2LR80-E??) in the DB. Both radars share fairly similar performance so in the end that might be fine anyways.
However, all SA-22 Greyhound lack the 1RS2-1E which is ,as far as I understand, the actual FCR.

Image

I might getting fussy here but you may want to change the name for all SA-22 Greyhound DB platforms to SA-22 Greyhound [96K6 Pantsir-S1] (Russian sources claim that the export version for the UAE is designated 96K6 Pantsir-S1E)?

Also, the UAE version is mounted on a MAN SX 45 8õ8 chassis instead of the Russian KAMAZ.

[DeWolf ADDED DB v440]

Hello!

A few ideas for consideration:

RQ-180 UAV(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_Grumman_RQ-180) for USAF, TARANIS UAV(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAE_Systems_Taranis) for the UK. The Harry DeWolf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_DeWolf-class_offshore_patrol_vessel) class AOPS for Canada just had a big announcement ceremony last week, I believe they're building 6.

Thanks for considering these ideas.
