Someone on reddit claiming to be on a Burke DDG stated that the standard operating procedure is to always run with full SLQ-32 EW capability turned on outside of port. Is this really true? It sounds stupid to have such a sensitive system always online for every potential adversary to study, and wouldn't it be dangerous to jam radars around a ship in peace time?

Turned on with full capabilities does not necessarily mean it is emitting: it could be in auto mode, and starts jamming when it detects a threat. That's feasible if the false alarm rate is low.

I have heard it suggested that the Houthis - or rather pro-Saleh forces allied to them - fired the first two missiles in the belief that they were attacking hostile Saudi or UAE warships. The Houthi-Saleh Government has said all along that they would target Saudi and UAE ships stopping and searching ships coming into their ports. These searches - along with the bombing of civilian targets by Saudi aircraft - are contributing to the famine in Yemen.

I found the most interesting aspect is the LLS-1 land-based ship. I wonder how fast it can go. But it does show the US commitment to the connected combat environment.

Pretty sure that just means it's an onshore AEGIS testing facility.

Now, if there was a way to tie these VLS into NIFC-CA so that you have the engagement processing being done by a DDG/CG with AEGIS and being fed target data by the E-2D or a F-35 and using the VLS cells in a San Antonio nearby... that would be pretty cool. At the very least, LPD VLSs with TACMs or LRASMs would certainly give the Navy more options and free up a few VLS on DDG/CG. Also, ESSM block2s with an active seeker could extend the self defense range of the LPD by quite a bit.

According to the earlier images, it seems that the rumors are confirmed: The Type 055 will have several significant RCS reduction features, like a Lafayette-styled enclosed deck and bow.
