RE: Dark days for the Japanese empire

Post by aztez »

Local Yokel: Good points you made and remarked. Thank you.

Thankfully Batavia and Bandoeng are somewhat closed out by my IJA and IJN bombers.

I have withdrawn some of my fighters out of frontline duty. I did not assault Port Moresby in past few days but this might become an problem later on since I kind of cannot afford him to build it up either. As for now though this operation is done. My Zero's are flying defensive missions over at Lae.

As for production. Well, I did shutdown Helen's and few other bomber factories. These were eating up 2 x Nakajima engines. (The problem here is that Oscars and Zeros both use Nakajima's) ...Hopefully these measures will make situation a bit easier. I'am desperately short of Zero's and Oscars. Not that the bomber production is good either! [8|]

Good tips and hints.. lets see how things play out.

Mistmatz: I did the exact thing you suggested and well it worked out much better. [;)]

Allthough the losses are high the odds are much better. These assauls forced Chuck to withdraw from Rangoon for now. Another intresting piece of intel is that he seems to have now + 50 000 stationed there. So, basically he is reinforcing Burma! [:-]

Good. Chuck lost a lot of planes at Bandoeng which cannot be a bad thing. KB will stay around and neutralize the Bandoeng for good while LBA bombers will keep Batavia closed.

Invasion forces are ordered to leave Malaya and head out to Merak where an beachhead will be seized. The 1st wave will land several support units. 2 IJA divisions + 1 Infantry brigade will be landed too. More reinforcements are enroute and an standby.

This is operation was pushed forward before I was fully prepared... oh well this is war!

Again. The idea is to burn supplies + destroy resource centers. His troops at Nanchang need to be on tiny supply levels. I mean there are way more than 200 000 men currently there. I'am moving an HQ unit + 3 IJA divisions into Nanchang in order to keep the balance.

Other NEWS

I'am very eager to start the Russian offensive. I need those Manchuko army troops elsewhere. Additional supplies are shipped into Port Arthur and some IJA base forces are shipped into Northern Japan. These troops will support LBA bombers and fighters.

Hopefully we can turn around the economy. (It is the main concern still at the moment)

I did shutdown irrelevant factories. Mitsubisi factories for once too since I have +2000 engines in the pools. What I need is to have significant amount of Nakajima's for Oscar's and Zero's.

I'am moving more supplies into Shanghai and Port Arthur. These will come handy in due course.

I did loose the combat replay but basically 2 major events happened in past two days.

1) KB repulsed an heavy enemy airstrike from Java. Some +50 allied aircraft were lost. Additional strike from KB destroyed some +30 aircraft on the ground at Madoeng.

The frightening fact was that quite a few LBA's got through the CAP but failed to hit anythings.

2) IJN announced that the BB Yamamoto is ready for action!

Here is an map from the DEI area:

RE: Dark days for the Japanese empire

Post by aztez »

Here are the modifications I have had to make my economy:

1) I have HALTED most of my bomber productions.
2) I have HALTED several ship building programs.
3) Over 2/3's of Mitsubishi engine productions have been HALTED.
4) I have TURNED OFF the reinforcements for Manchuko troops.

I'am seriously lacking resources. Currently I'am shipping resources from Thailand, SRA, DEI (Palempang, Toboali), Borneo (Brunei, Tarakan) and China. The funny thing is that I do have so much Oil present at Home Islands that I don't know what to with them. [8|]

Still there is NO Zero's in the pool nor Oscars. However I do notice small increase in terms of my squadrons filling up.

I do seriously hope that these measures are enough to pump my economy into higher gear!

What I need to do and I'am actually forced to do is following:

1) Start pushing towards Soereabaja immediately. Once Java is secured than move againts Balikpapan and Kendari ASAP!

2) Start my Russia offensive either in late June or at least at July 1942! I need more resources and I do need those troops released elsewhere.

For bad or worse this is how things are turning out!

I have now filled the depleted Oscar squadrons. Now I need build up some sort of an reserve. Still I do seriously lack Zero's and IJA bombers of all types.

I'm looking forward to your Russian adventure, with trepidation i might add [;)]. Looks like Java will crumble just in time. with regard to Burma i'm not very familar with AB's map but isn't it trail from rangoon to mandalay, YUK. might be better off not bothering and just
defend the Thai border to free up some good units for russia.

That said however i'd bet good money on a large commonwealth surge once your intentions for russia are known

As for air losses [X(] jeepers creepers , no wonder production cant keep up [;)]

Cheers Rob.

Well.. yeah, I looking forward to start the Russian adventure. Last turn BB Yamamoto + 2 other BB's set sail towards Home Islands. They will be particapating with this huge invasion.

Oh, and I do not intend to withdraw troops elsewhere. Kwantung Army are on their own with this one. Allthough I intend to move quite a few bombers into Korea.

I did just capture Bandoeng so Java is definately crumbling. I do have deal with Balikpapan, Kendari and few other places but progress is steady.

You are correct about Burma. It will be secondary theatre of operations. The geographics don't look too tempting with AB map.

[:D]... I know the ac losses are "high" but I never really have been an causious player. Next 100 Zero's will sweep allies out of the skies at Port Moresby.

In AB's map, it's trails from Thailand into Burma, so a Japanese over-land offensive takes a while to get there.  Burma is interconnected by rail, it's getting -into- Burma that takes time.  Or you can sea-invade Rangoon (the rail head).  From Rangoon, you can move within Burma by rail.  But if you don't invade Rangoon or Moulmein, you have you march into Burma via the trails.

Feinder: That is true. I think I will pass the Burma campaign at least for now. I don't want advance too far and only to realize that Chuck can flank me.

I think he has anywhere between 70 000 - 100 000 men at Rangoon/Moulmein region. Propably British Burma corps + Chinese units.

Relatively quiet in past few days.

Our land troops will be supported by IJN navy. Large BB TF is already in place at Sapporo. More units are ordered to start sailing from Luzon to Northern Japan.

KB is currently on its way near Borneo. It should reach the area within a week or so.

Good luck ..

word of advise though, CD guns at soerbaja (at least in stock) can severely hurt CA's as they are 9inch slug throwers iirc. best be careful when sending in the bombardment groups.

Cheers Rob. Yeah, Soerebaja CD guns can be nasty and that is why I will only bombard it with BB's.

Thanks. I think I will need the luck. The Russian offensive will start soon. I'am already moving the unit into Russian border which I will use to activate the front.

IJA bombers and aircraft are already in place. KB are at Luzon and continue towards Sapporo. As said 1 BB TF + 2 Cruiser TF's are in place too. These will provide additional power which I will use to bombard coastal bases.

I don't know whether Manchuko army can overwhelm the Russians but we will soon find out...!

...as you know Finns and Russians haven't exactly been friendly neighbours throughoit the history!!! [:-][:)]

Here they are WSWG... [:)]

We have agreed on the houserules regarding Russia!

1) 5 turn activation warning before the offensive begins.
2) Russian fighters can be set on Maxium of 60% CAP. Bombers stay on standby orders.
3) IF Allied fighters or bombers are to be based on Russia than Chuck needs to transport these units via ship convoys. He also must around 50% of planes as fighters.
4) Those base units must be set on no replacement IF they arrive and only can be turned on once the a supply convoy reaches their base.
5) Chuck can bring in some AA, Engineers and even RCT units to support these. (No US Divisions though until he is coming for an invasion)

That is basically it. Houserules are now agreed and I feel these are reasonable enough.
