John Smoltz and two relievers combined to shut out the Phillies and Adam LaRoche smacked his 25th homer, as the Braves thumped the Phillies 8-0. Jeff Francoeur was 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Yates struck out the side in the 1st inning. He went 5 innings, allowing only 3 hits, while striking out 6. The Braves enjoy an off-day Thursday, then welcome Milwaukee for a 3-game series.

John Smoltz went 8 strong innings and Bob Wickman picked up the save in the 9th, as the Braves beat the Brewers 4-2. Chipper Jones was activated before the game. He went 0-for-3 and drove in a run with a sacrifce fly. The Braves now take to the road, with four games in Washington, followed by 3 games in Florida. Tyler Yates will get his 3rd start in the opener against the Nationals. Either Oscar Villarreal or Wayne Franklin will pitch the second game.

Tyler Yates was impressive again, pitching into the 6th inning and allowing only 2 hits and 1 run. He did struggle a little with control, walking 5. Jeff Francoeur smashed a 3-run homer, his 16th, and Chipper Jones went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI as the Braves downed the Nationals, 8-2.

Brian McCann drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the 9th, forcing in the decisive run, as the Braves beat the Nationals 2-1. Lance Cormier was recalled from Richmond before the game. Cormier started and went 5 scoreless innings.

Tim Hudson went the distance on a 4-hit shutout as the Braves pounded the Nationals 16-0. Matt Diaz was 4-for-6 with 3 RBI. Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-6 with a homer and 4 RBI. Chipper Jones was 3-for-6 with a homer and 4 RBI, and Adam Laroche hit a 3-run homer. The win was the Braves' 4th in a row. They will send Chuck James to the mound tomorrow, when they go for the 4-game sweep.

The Braves jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 3 innings, but could not hold it. Pedro Astacio earned his 1st win of the season as the Nationals beat the Braves 6-4.

Former Brave Wes Helms smacked a walk-off 2-run homer in the bottom of the 12th to give Florida a 5-3 win over the Braves. Atlanta's best chance to win the game came in the top of the 11th when they loaded the bases with 1 out. Marlin pitcher Sergio Mitre wiggled off the hook, however, inducing Andruw Jones to ground to short. The lead runner was forced at the plate for the 2nd out. Brian McCann then grounded out to end the threat.

The Florida Marlins plated 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th and beat the Braves 8-5. Tyler Yates left after 5 innings leading 4-3, but the Marlins rallied off reliever Ken Ray.

Dontrelle Willis and Joe Borowski combined on a 4-hit shutout and the Marlins swept the Braves with a 2-0 victory. The Braves' only threat came in the top of the 9th. Chipper Jones did not start, but was called upon to pinch-hit with two on and one out. Borowski induced a ground ball double play and the game was over. Atlanta now welcomes Pittsburgh for a 3-game series in Atlanta.

Edgar Renteria sparked a 4-run rally with a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the 8th, as the Braves beat the Pirates 6-2. Danys Baez earned the win in relief.

Starting pitcher Lance Cormier lasted just 3 2/3 innings and was charged with 4 ER. Kevin Barry allowed 4 ER in only 1/3 of an inning. Tyler Yates allowed 5 ER in one inning pitched, and Ken Ray allowed 3 ER in his only inning.
