Stock speed, Vista Ultimate 64, with 8GB DDR2 Corsair.  I don't like to overclock.  Big CoolMaster Cosmos case with 4 120mm fans, and ZALMAN 9500A 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler.

Thanks for not disregarding [:)].

More pointless than a broken pencil,
that you left on the shelf when you bought a pen anyway,
only to find the pen was faulty.

Another way to veiw this, however, is:

When AE is released, this thread will be at post number X... so, obviously, the sooner we can get to whatever that magic number is, the better!

Woo! Go for it - start posting so we can get there quicker!

Dave's right, it is our duty to disregard this thread as quickly as possible! AE depends on it[X(]

What does all of that mean? Are you compensating for something?

Nice hardware, how have you set up your RAM timings?
SPD default or have you entered them manually?
Can you take a screenie of cpu-z?
Have you made it through several hours of gaming without any trouble?
Reason I ask is you said earlier you had trouble being stable with that eVGA board.
Have you heard of orthos? that is a great program to test your PC for stability.
It gives it a real work-out.
I don't really like your power supply though, thermaltakes are a little on the cheaply built side.
It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

Is this a coded message? Does it really mean that the KB is steaming off of San Francisco at this very moment?

Gem,

It was all standard settings.  I will check out orthos.  I'm using 3d mark.  So far everything is running fine.  I should be able to start decoding messages shortly...

Oh yeah, the CPU is a Q6600.  I haven't decided if SLI is a gimmick to sell more graphics boards.  I wanted a system that would stay current for a bit.  The way things are moving that could change next week.  I debated about going to an intel chipset due to the problems I've had.  If this board causes me problems I will.

Great,
3dmarks, especially 03 and 05 will give you a good idea of overall stability, but as a nerd, I like to make sure with memtest(10 loops of test 5), a set of 3d marks, and orthos for at least 10 hours. If it passes this, you are stable as stable can be.
But please disregard this, I'm just a dumb-a$$[;)]

SLI is like that cartoon/commericial with Trix the rabbit.
Silly rabbit, SLI is for kids.[;)]
That 8800 GPU will do you perfectly when pushed up against any game( ok except crysis, whcih is brutla on any card let alone SLI)
You have more than enough hardware and OS for anythin to worry about for the time being.
Kick back and enjoy your PC, it's a top-end powerhouse.[:)]

SLI will give you a boost in both bandwidth and FPS when using resolutions greater than 1900x1200.
Screen size is irrelevant for the most part.
For instance,
I run a native reso of 1360x 768 and play games like Oblivion(game that requires ALOT od CPU and Video memory)
on a 32 inch HDTV monitor using a cheapo- $30 video card
The 8800 gts 320 mb card
will play that game on max settings at 1900 x 1200 reso easy.
For playing WitP, my cheapo card will play it just fine on your system and lesser ones like mine.
I have the Asus P5B- Deluxe
and
Intel E6600 Conroe
along with 2 GB OCZ RAM
fortron source 700w power supply

compared to your quad-core/8 GB RAM and vista 64, you make me look like trying to defend Pearl on that fateful day.[;)]
Both can handle AE just fine though.

If the KB is just off San Fran. than it can safely be disregarded [:D] No matter what Gem's codes claim.

Gem,

Thanks for all your input.  It is appreciated, and never disregarded!

Of course for everyone else, the release date for AE was locked inside our coded messages, but you can disregard that one.  [:)]
