Both major sieges do not seem to be going anywhere. Singapore has results that show he doesn't have enough combat power there and the air attacks have slackened off. On Luzon, he has troops outside of Manila, but none in the base so I get 200 supplies per day and my transports continue to take troops to China.

Thank you Nemo for giving me a few subs with FPs. [&o] [&o]

They also found the "transports" at 109,117 (13 hexes just west of due north of Papaete). His patrols ID a lot of my subs patrolling the approaches to Papaete without hitting any. They will go to Port Stanley to unload (plans will be modified).

The early loss of the Line Islands is really hurting my movement of shipping. However, with the number of carriers he has, it may be a blessing in disguise.

San Fran - my carriers and other surface forces have disbanded. They will stay about one week to allow some upgrades on 1 March 42.

A New Month and New Toys

Post by ny59giants »

1 March 42

ASW/Subs:
Sub spotted at 4,99 (3 hexes due west of Perth). A ASW TF was formed and sent out.

Singapore:
Status - My supply is at 52,480 with AV at 1310 and forts 4. Even if I consume about 1,000 supply per day, I should hold out till May 42 unless he brings in a significant amount of new troops.
Japanese aircraft at 16000 feet
G4M1 Betty x 52
Ki-15II Babs x 1

Japanese aircraft losses
G4M1 Betty: 9 damaged

Allied ground losses:

Airbase supply hits 2
Runway hits 15

Java/DEI:
Batavia [Java]
Japanese aircraft at 21000 feet
Ki-264 Angel x 3

No Japanese losses

Runway hits 2

Then again
Japanese aircraft at 8000 feet
G4M1 Betty x 67
Ki-21-II Sally x 28

No Japanese losses

Airbase hits 5
Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 32

Luzon/PI:
Manila - My supply is at 53,263 with AV at 1882 and forts at 2 (53%) in an Urban hex. He has yet to actually enter the hex. He may be waiting for upgrades and/or to fill out his TO&E on his troops at Clark. I can wait.

Aleutians:
Cold Bay [Alaska] - 2 days of good luck for my Bostons [:D]
Japanese aircraft
F1M2 Pete-FF x 2
A6M2-N Rufe-FF x 3

Allied aircraft at 9000 feet
A-20B Boston x 14

No Japanese losses

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
AP Sasago Maru
AP Shanghai Maru, Bomb hits 2, on fire, heavy damage [:)]
CA Maya

South Pacific:
Papaete - his CVs are at 114,128 per Intel reports (4 hexes NE). No attacks this turn. I have moved 2 subs over in that direction. My transports are another 4 hexes closer to freedom.

Central Pacific:
Palmyra [LINE]
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zeke x 15

Allied aircraft at 32000 feet
B-17E Fortress x 29 - I forgot to stand down the last squadron, so 32 planes flew.

No Japanese losses

No Allied losses

Airbase hits 2
Runway hits 4

Comments:
New Toys are Seafire II - 20/mo; Kittyhawk I - 60/mo; and LaGG-3/mo.

Screen Shot - These are my damaged warships at San Fran after upgrades. The last of the Northampton CAs are upgraded to have their AA doubled. CV Saratoga and CV Lexington have double their AA, too. Also, their air capacity has increased from 72 to 90!![X(] I have recalled 2 SBD squadrons operating in Alaska. The Enterprise, Yorktown, and Hornet (arrives in 20 days!!) have their upgrades on 1 April 42. They get the same thing. [&o] I get CV Wasp in about 3 months. Thus, by the end of June 42, I should have 6 CVs and 520 aircraft.

I will allow these ships to get down around 4 sys damage before filling out the TF at anchor (I leave 1 ship in each without any sys damage so I don't have to spend PPs again and have to look for CV leaders).

QQ on carrier ops - I can operate 5 squadrons from a CV and have up to 115% capacity with flight ops. Correct?? Thus, my upgraded CVs (90 capacity) can have 103 planes on them. I ask as my DB and TB squadrons have re-sized and those extra planes are in reserve on the CVs.

March Operations: Retake Palmrya and Christmas Island. Details to follow.

Allied Gnats - PT boats!!

Post by ny59giants »

2 March 42

ASW/Subs:
Barracuda - one of two subs with FPs is hit by patrol planes from his carriers north of Papaete. Her damage is 36/67. [X(] She will take almost 30 days to get back to Pearl, if at all. The next few days are crucial to see if the Allied damage control can live up to their reputation.

China:

PT -38, Shell hits 12, on fire
PT -39, Shell hits 8
PT -40, Shell hits 12, Bomb hits 1, on fire, heavy damage SUNK!!
PT -36

Central Pacific:
Palmyra [LINE] - It must be frustrating knowing that his Zekes cannot reach me. My experience levels slow grow as I rotate in fresh squadrons.
Japanese aircraft
A6M2 Zeke x 15

Allied aircraft at 32000 feet
B-17E Fortress x 10

No Japanese losses

No Allied losses

Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 1

Comments:
He seems to be dancing around Papaete. Intel shows ship(s) 4 hexes just south of due east from this base. I would imagine he has at least 2 CVs in the area. Does he feel my PT boats are that much of a concern to his transports?? If so, then form a small SC TF with DDs and head for the base to wipe them out.

Allied Gnats - PT boats!! Part 2

Post by ny59giants »

3 March 42

China:
Changsha - daily runs as before
QQ - I had moved in 32 MIG-3s to northern China and I had transferred those that had repaired up to Chungking. I did not lose any pilots, but about 14 planes ended up MIA. Is this normal or did I do something wrong??

Burma/India:
Rangoon - 2 strikes of Sally are escorted by Zekes from Bangkok to hit my 2 CD units. Minimal damage.

Singapore:
111 bombers come in and I get 3 supply hits. Daily ground bombardment attacks.

Java/DEI:
Merak/Serang [Java] - He seems to be pushing down from the north to take the island
Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 10335 troops, 203 guns, 28 vehicles, Assault Value = 552

Defending force 2730 troops, 66 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 88

Japanese max assault: 336 - adjusted assault: 284

Allied max defense: 85 - adjusted defense: 14

Japanese assault odds: 20 to 1 (fort level 2)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Merak/Serang [Java] base !!!

Japanese ground losses:
76 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Vehicles lost 2

Allied ground losses:
473 casualties reported
Guns lost 18

Defeated Allied Units Retreating!

Luzon/PI:
Manila - Damian has still not moved into this base. [&:]

Aleutians:
Kodiak - my 4 DDs escorting in the transports carrying an EAB encounter mines. The extra Russian MSW and DDs sure help ensure my TF have some escorts into potentially dangerous waters. The rate of building fortifications and expanding AFs is quickening with the winter penalty over for 2 days. [;)]

South Pacific:
Papaete - 2 strikes of Zekes (22 & 40) strafe my PT boats with one sunk. The second strike is from CV Zuikaku.
Intel - Again, radio transmissions tell me that he has ships two hexes due south of Papaete. However, I have sent the S Class subs off to Nz and have only 2 French subs left to defend their base.

Central Pacific:
Palmyra - my B-17s come in above his Zekes again.

Comments:
San Fran - I still have 5 warships above 5 sys damage. CA Chicago seems to be stuck at 9. I may need to form a TF and send it out one days worth with auto disband to kick start her.

Java - I will make my final stand at Malang. It is a mtn hex with forts that will be over 6 in a few days. I have almost 500 AV and about 40,000 in supply.

Zekes and Zeros are inter changeable for those fighters in this mod. They are the same plane as you are used to from other games.

Repositioning of forces

Post by ny59giants »

4 March 42

Russia:
Hailar - Recon flights show 12 units here (66,320/320/208). This is about 10,000 more than less than two weeks ago. I have sent more troops from Kuysyshevka here and they are starting to arrive at Borzya (forts 8 plus).
Sovetskaya Gavan - a new target!
Japanese aircraft at 5000 feet
Ki-32 Mary x 3
Ki-48-I Lily x 1

No Japanese losses

Airbase supply hits 1
Runway hits 1

China:
Changsha - same stuff as before.

Burma/India:
Rangoon - ground bombardments only.
India - the last of my B-17Ds have made the trip (West Coast/Alaska/Russia/India). If he has to wait until May or later to attack here, it will be too late.

Singapore:
Two attacks of 55 and 113 bombers hit the AF.

Java/DEI:
A day of rest.

Luzon/PI:
Manila - evac of the AA units continue.

Aleutian:
Cold Bay - he seems to be loading troops to go where??

South Pacific:
Papaete - another PT boat is attacked. I now have 3 boats left with low 30s in damage to each.
Intel show ships now 2 hexes SW of the base. They seem to be going around in circles.

Central Pacific:
Palmyra - My B-17s come in and find the Zekes have been relocated. Less than 10 planes are now stationed here. [:D]

Comments:
Hawaii - the rebuilt BF from Palmyra (part of the fragment evacuated), 40/A Division, and 193 Tank Bn are on their way from San Fran. Transports for the 161st Rgt and 18 Eng are already in route. 40/B and 40/C Division just had commands changed and will follow as soon as loaded. I should not need them for the actual invasion as he has just a large BF there. My warships will be leaving San Fran for Pearl soon. Hopefully, the re-invasion of Palmyra to take place in 2 to 3 weeks. Subs have arrived there now and I will spread them out to cover shipping lanes to Canton Island. My one remaining undamaged FP equipped sub has left Papaete area to take up station. Am I missing something??

CV Hornet arrives in 15 days!! She will not be part of the Palmyra operation, but in time for the Christmas Island operation. This will bring me to level that means a confrontation with KB is OK. More so after the April upgrades - 5 CVs with 90 aircraft each. Each CV TF now will have 12 ships (CV, 2 CA, CL, & 8 DDs).

Michael---Damian seems to be on the march EVERYWHERE.  Do you have a feeling as to what his final objective might be?  Australia?  New Zealand??  Can he actually take Russia?
