Overview of USN BBs experience gains

Post by Rysyonok »

I wanted to examine how much experience my capital ships have earned since the beginning of the campaign. In last seven days there were almost a dozen capital ships severely damaged or even sunk; I need to find out why.

Name: Day experience as of 10/16/22 (gain over 5/31/22) / Night experience as of 10/16/22 (gain over 5/31/22)

California: 67 (+2) / 63 (+43)
Georgia: 67 (+2) / 56 (+36)
Idaho: 67 (+2) / 58 (+38)
Mississippi: 66 (+1) / 63 (+43)
Nebraska: 73 (+8) / 59 (+39)
Nevada: 62 (0) / 32 (+12) Undergoing scheduled upgrades for the last 2 1/2 months
New Mexico: 70 (+5) / 60 (+40)
New York: 68 (+3) / 62 (+42)
Oklahoma: 70 (+5) / 60 (+40) Undergoing scheduled upgrades for the last 2 1/2 months
Oregon: 67 (+2) / 61 (+41)
Pennsylvania: 74 (+9) / 60 (+40)
Rhode Island: 70 (+5) / 57 (+37)
Tennessee: 70 (+5) / 64 (+44)
Texas: 75 (+10) / 61 (+40)

It appears that in the first four months of the war battleships have quickly increased night experience levels, which is understandable - they start off only at 20. Day experience gains were minor.

It may be necessary to hold Royal navy back for a bit to give those ships a chance to get some experience. They have arrived with high day experience levels (low 70s), but only moderate night experience levels (30s to 40s). As a result, they may be assigned to bombardment missions at first.

Not much going on. IJA group in Australia has been annihilated. More shots exchanged in French Polynesia. In New Guinea at Thursday island, IJA probes my defenses for the first time in almost a month.

IJA seems to have given up on French Polynesia. When Japanese first landed there, it was a blow. The only level-9-capable port in the area was protected by two starved base forces and an HQ. A decisive attack here could have seriously impeded my ability to resupply in south pacific.

Luckily, the attack never came. I had time to pull French forces (although 2/3 of 10th RMIC are now fish food) from Saigon. I am reinforcing the area with New Zealand troops as well.

In other news, S-6 placed a torpedo amid BB Shikishima. Let's see if it survives.

Allies continue to clean up Japanese remnant in French Polynesia. Soon they will be annihilated.

IJA attempted to add more troops to Thursday Island, a chokepoint between New Guinea and Australia. It's become a stalemate, since I had time to reinforce it as well.

Some activity is taking place east of Hong Kong as British and American troops are slowly probing Japanese defenses around Okinawa region.

There are now 2 IJA divisions on Thursday island. I estimate 5-6 to be still in North Philippines and about as much in East New Guinea. I wonder: does IJA have enough manpower to attempt a major invasion anywhere else?

Japanese transports run into Allied stealth ships...

Actually, it's because IJN's fleets were so large, WPO did not visually load Royal Navy battleships that snuck up on them... ;) Japanese have quickly resolved this issue by splitting up their transports.

It's time to look again at IJN destroyer lineup. In the last week several more were sunk; here's what's left (or at least not 100% confirmed to be sunk):

Momi class:

Momi
Kaya
Kagero
Aoi

Asakaze class:

Hatsuharu
Uzuki
Isonami

Sakura class:

Tachibana

Enoki class:

Enoki
Nara
Tsubaki
Maki

Amatsukaze class:

Isokaze

Minekaze class:

Hakaze
Akikaze

No. 2 (Wakatake) class:

No. 2 (joins on 12/15/22)

This places the remaining number at 16.
