Is briny_norman new to PBEM? Just that Spain merges the game files. I haven't done this, so I don't know if that's an issue. However, I have heard there can be problems...

Yes, he was new. I heard about the problems but am not sure there is any way to test outside of trying.

Just to spice up the discussion a bit does the 15% March Attrition seem to anyone else perhaps a bit too damaging.  Not really asking to change it since we have all agreed.  Just curious for others opinions.

It isnt as damaging as you might think. Im a player in several other PBEM games with Bonaparte attrition. As long as you have sufficient replacements you can keep up with march attrition. If you are doing alot of Force marching over really long distances with large forces it can start to put a severe strain on your replacement situation.

Thats actually pretty good IMO. It forces a more realistic operational tempo on the game, which is why I like it and vote for it in the games I am in. YMMV.

ENGLAND--Aprezto <CONFIRMED>
FRANCE--Guctony <CONFIRMED>
Spain---(EMPTY)
PRUSSIA--AndrewKurtz <CONFIRMED>
AUSTRIA--Deerslayer <CONFIRMED>
TURKEY--Deadmeat1471
RUSSIA--Carl Rugenstein <CONFIRMED>
DENMARK---Evwalt <CONFIRMED>

Still haven't heard from Turkey/Deadmeat though I noticed he was on line earlier.

I know we could probably recuit some of the more experienced players as "filler" but the 2 who expressed the most interest both stated that they wanted to play "standard" (ie. non-modded) scenerios. Would everyone be willing to switch to standard 1792 Denmark if that was the only way to fill the game? I know I would rather get SOMETHING rolling at this point, rather than wait for the "perfect" game.

I won't "officially" send anyone out an invite yet, until we can confirm in Deadmeat/Turkey is in or out. Also, I have several invites out to new players, so I am not sure if one of them wants to play.

So I assume we just wait to send anything since we have no Spain yet?

I think so.

Perhaps I could volunteer to play both Russia and Spain [:D]

I would say wait on sending any turns because we have no one to send them to!

Also, keep in mind that Deerslayer (Austria) is out for the next 2-3 days. Hopefully, by the time he returns we will have found a Spain. [:@]

I hadn't thought of this before.

You could get someone to email the files from any ongoing game to see if you can merge playing as Spain. Maybe someone could even upload a set of such files to a filesharing site or they could even be hosted here somehow. Then anyone could download the save files and try it before they commit to doing it for a real game.

It worked the first try for me - I was probably cursed with some awful fate from that point on, it just took a few days for the anvil to fall.

I was going to save all the files from all the turns as well, in case we needed to go back to an earlier turn if something went wrong.

No plan ever survives the battle though.

Good idea on the "test files" Dab.

Hope you get your computer problems fixed and can return soon. Who knows, we may still be looking for your replacement...[;)]

Quick heads up. I'll be camping Saturday through Monday. I'll be able to send orders first thing Saturday AM, but then will be without my PC until Monday afternoon.

Posted on the wrong thread Andrew [:-] This is for the OLD game.

I'll put out the word though. Hopefully there will be good news when you return. [;)]
