Doesn't the cowbird chick grow like twice as big as the Robin and the Robin chicks end up starving to death as a result?
Edit
Never mind, I guess not. Do you think the Cowbirds grow up thinking they're Robins? That would get a little confusing during mating season. [:D]
I figure the cowbird chick gets enough worms crammed down its throat that it never wants to see another robin again. Cowbirds are seed-eaters, after all.ORIGINAL: geofflambert

This just proves that good parenting does not necessarily produce good results. The cowbird chicks always grow up to be delinquent. By the way, in the case of a robins nest, the cowbird will be slightly smaller. If its a finches nest, way way the other way.

she lays her eggs in the nests of birds of other species.
Let the other mama birds do all the work.

I don't believe you get the full consequence of being a cowbird chick raised in the nest of robins. Not only do you get worms for breakfast, you get robin vomit for supper.

Today I stood a long time in the rain, watching a couple of ducks grazing on grass. Pondering on things.

Svenskere ponder a lot. In the rain. Is your life like an Ingmar Bergman film?

Don't Bergman films work because everyone can see their own lives reflected in them?[8D]
I would not say that my life is like a film. Not even one by Ingmar Bergman.ORIGINAL: geofflambert

You don't know much about gorns, do you? Bergman didn't either.
The greatest director ever is the one who directed my fight scenes with Kirk. You know, old whats-his-name.

So you really ARE the inspiration for Tony Soprano! [8D]ORIGINAL: Orm

But I had been on an errand and on the way there it had been blowing hard and rained snow. So on the way back I was already wet but the snow part and the wind had gone. And suddenly, on a lawn, I see the ducks eating grass. And a calm sets upon me and I stand there for a while relaxing and admiring the ducks. And that moment goes on for around ten minutes. I then continue, soaking wet, but refreshed and with a feeling of joy.

I want to talk about my favorite hero, Il Duce, Benito Mussolini. He had a rare birth defect. He was born without a Superego.
Now his Ego managed to keep his Id on a short leash much of the time, but especially when he was in front of a crowd he was mostly Id.
You know, like Caliban from The Tempest.
