Any guesses where the KB is at?

You have attacked up thru this salient before, and I really like how you are doing it. Kudos.[&o]

My guess is hovering around Babeldaob out of my search range waiting for the opportunity to strike.

Dili's airfield is shut down and if I manage to take the base it will take all the pressure off Darwin and most of the north coast of Australia.

MrKane has been working my airforce with sweeps and partially worn down the allied carriers. In addition I have 13 hellcats in the pools and am down at least a hundred planes. It will take a month at least to get fully fitted out again. May have to put some marines in planes other than hellcats for a while.

i don't understand. How is he able to wear you down so much. Is he threatening to strike with 2E against something valuable there?

Is it not possible to stand down CAP?

It is unless I need to protect shipping like moving supply and troops to Darwin, Saumlaki and Dobo. The current invasion had me using my carrier fleet to cover Dili and the surrounding areas.

I had just under 48,000 supplies in hex the day prior to the final attack on Dili.

I am not sure how much supply was destroyed but it appears I captured about 70,000 supplies and almost 10K in fuel.

In answer to your question, a few hexes south of the Moluccas :]

Quite a haul on the supplies. Will you retire or aim to fight the KB?

We are dancing around the Banda sea right now. A few turns ago MrKane managed to sail the KB into a trap I had set for other shipping and kill about 125 dive bombers. Last turn I managed a CAP trap north of Saumlaki that killed about 100 Jills.

I have about 250 capacity in carriers due to arrive to my main carrier fleet within about 4 days so I want to add to it before I go on a kill mission.

Plane losses were pretty horrific for the allied side.

Woah! Epic carrier battle is what we are reading those AARs for :)
I wonder how many pilots were saved by that one sub in the hex. "It's raining men, hellelujah!"

Mucho good carrier report.

Here is what I think happened. In the morning search phase we can see the KB is all in one hex under stormy weather. The allied carrier group is also under stormy weather. I got a message that quite a few airgroups could not participate in combat due to range or weather. It could have been both but in this case I am thinking weather.

I did not have the range on his carriers until it appears that 2 of 4 carrier groups reacted toward my carriers bringing them into a 6 hex range.

In the afternoon phase, one of my carrier groups decided to react and move one hex closer to the Japanese groups putting it in danger. Fortunately it appears that the weather worsened so the Japanese carriers still could not react.

The results of 8 or ten more skirmishes was mostly the damage to this light carrier.

MrKane and I had been dancing around the Banda sea for a while. This turn I expected to come into contact with him and intended to do it hopefully.

There is a very large tanker convoy with a CVE carrier escort heading for Darwin. I thought he would position himself 8 hexes out from it while being 7 hexes from Darwin and 8 or 9 hexes from my carriers west of Darwin. I did not think he would be trying to evacuate or reinforce Lautem.

MrKane moved a group of ships to Lautem and a small contingent of torpedo planes sunk 1 and seriously damaged another. There were no notations of troop casualties so I figure he is either trying to bring in supply or evacuate important units like the CD guns on the island.

My carriers should have moved to 1 hex southeast of Dili. That would have placed me 2 hexes away from his carrier groups. I am not sure what happened to cause me to end up so short although I did detect his carriers in the night phase and also an ASW group had to catch up to the carriers so maybe they hung back due to that. I did not save last turn so I cannot check the settings.

Yeah. MrKane sent the the turn this morning and I still have not gotten my head around it yet. It was really bad luck for him but considering I planned to strike his carriers this turn it was just up to the gods of luck and war.

However, the KB and associated ships are still extremely dangerous so I have to be careful or I will see the sides equal again.
