Last attack in area is a loser.

Supplies are not cut To Rostov.

I have 1 more turn to take it before mud.

I guess it will be massive frontal attack on turn 17. Get the popcorn.

16 strategy session

Post by BrianG »

This is my tank situation up north before moves:

So what should be , only 2 turns left clear, what shall we do?

Dangers , what can be gained. What can be lost?

Cherepovets, Yaroslava, north Moscow, full pincer attempt?

Retreat? Resupply?

Be careful pushing too far beyond your railhead. In the mud turns units beyond 100 MPs from rail will lose morale points fast.

No retreat.

Your best bet is to keep kicking the soviets in the teeth as long as possible....then once blizzard hits you can slowly give ground....as soviet movement penalties plus blizzard means most their infantry cant even attack if it has to clear 1 enemy hex.

You will have some frost time to start digging in if you want...as well some of the lagging infantry and be brought up to start entrenching your winter lines.

The more soviets you kill pre-blizzard the easier your winter will be.

Also I count something 55+ more soviet divisions still be to liquidated....which means since they are taking so long to die they will be useless experience wise in the winter as well.

Even more importantly, losing them after the start of October means they don't come back for free, right?

They come back for free if the Soviets do not have any Admin points left at the end of Soviet turn.

Focus on causing casualties to the Soviets while maintaining your own strength for now.

At Rostov simply encircle the city, leaving it to starve to death during the mud and then take it come snow.

In the north, start reducing the pockets. No need for you to take more attrition damage than necessary.

Look at the fuel and supply situation at the front and figure out if you can encircle a few more Soviet units before the mud.

Another thing I wouldn't shy away from is attacking almost every low CV Soviet division you can....as their experience level is so low they should take much higher losses then you do...which then either makes their CV worthless if they don't get replacements or drains the soviet replacement pool even more to keep those units from going unready.

Next patch the Soviet Experience issue shouldn't be so bad but in the current patch you can just slaughter soviets if they leave low exp units next to you. Due to how much higher losses they take from lack of experience.

no.

Looks like stalemate. Since I will have Rostov ( or hope I have after blizzard), I guess I will attempt to trap the whole lot in spring 42 from attack south from Rostov area.

I do not have enough tanks power. My tanks which are north will just get enough mp's in 2 turns to be on rr for mud.

The rest will not be able to do enough damage.

Thus I attempt to take Cherepovets b/c I had forces near there.

Then I probed towards Yaraslov. It will just be too much too late in the summer campaign season.

Probably retreated to form a line more south and left the rest to delay you at Rostov till after mud.

Now you just need to push your infantry up to hold the line south of Rostov and pull your tanks back closer to the rails for mud.

Final south.

Next turn I get the front split. Its actually not a great turn in which to get it activated as it's mud and now all Army hq's are far from OKH instead of a locale Front hq.

But I shall deal as best I can.[;)]
