Africa. Axis defences are building up plus a pile of Italian aircraft coming down into Spain.
Can't see me making much progress but will slug it out to keep them tied down. The ports are just not big enough to bring in enough units.

Russia. Give the Southern front a rest this turn. Continue to scrap it out in the North and take back a couple of hexes. The war in Russia is reasonable even, Axis are handing out more damage but Soviets have more units to switch in and out of the front line and experience is going up. Plus a lot of my production is still going on upgrading units - have got an army that is too big.

Am hoping Axis are feeling some pressure from fending off attacks on several fronts, and maybe their oil supplies are running are getting tight but it is hard to tell. Certainly an exciting game with not really knowing who is winning.

Strikes me the Allies are looking for opportunities and the Axis are like a fire brigade going one place and then the next putting out Fires. Meanwhile the Russian MeatGrinder cannot be calculated. . . When will she grind through so much there is a front collapse or as the Axis strong enough to hold till the end?

In the mediterranean the German and Italian navy rules the waves and sink 2 transports that tried a long range invasion. Especially 2 Italian DD groups were heroic. Bypassing the British BB screen taking some damage and going straight for the transport and sinking the British 70th division. The other transport wassunk by Scharnhorst was unescorted and it said it was a Partisan that got sunk not sure what that means.

In Africa reinforcements arrive. The US armcorps already down too a combat strength of 3 so there is hope we can kick them out eventually.

In France we shatter one division. The american corps will get out but I hope to get the British one. These invasions are not that cheap and I don´t see an insane amount of land units in England. But I see a lot of airplanes and that with the allies losing 4 air units in Denmark.

Another example of how I play a bit too fast and don´t sit down and think. There have been no stratbombing so why havent I moved the AA to the channel ports? But better late then never that is now ongoing and hopefully will make life a bit worse for the Allies.

The disaster front saved for last. Weather in october snow/cold not what we wanted I can tell you that for nothing :).

Losses the Russians inflict is on a unsustainable level with 2 corps every turn being more or less pulverized and some shatter occasionally as well as the airforce gtting worn down. Both Riga and Minsk our main objectives have already been lost and winter is looming not fun. Funny how things can change fast just a copuple of turns ago things felt ok but now they do not. German HQ is reaching out to the public on how to stop this Russian bear any tips appreciated [:)]

Magic I counted nearly 25 air in the East and I assume that with the Winter bonus your near equal forces aren't holding up. Rivers and all forms of rough terrain when on defense but the issue is you haven't a lot of real-estate to give back. I see the Riverline in the North and South and you really cannot afford to give those you must focus your defense in the flanks in the center where he will bust through. You may wish to give land. . . I am looking West though and it doesn't appear you are as strong as you should be.

In '43 he will have strength with the USA/UK or he's lendleasing everything to the Soviets. Though you needed to be on par in armor/mechs or great amounts of Infantry with a ton of air at this point to hold through '43. Plus the West is vulnerable again in '43.

Give land if time is what you want where you start to get weak. those 10 strikes on one unit allow a bust through . You will see his armor amass.

This is a tough situation! I would of liked to see you make Leningrad/Moscow/Rostov so you had real estate to surrender through '44. Plus enough air and strong units to hold. Use Cities too, they are strong points! Pack em with AA mechs/tanks have AA protection better than infantry.

Another Corps will be lost in France, get the Americans out.
That was a costly incursion, I have lost far too many Allied units in this game.

Think I can hold out OK in West Africa, but not going anywhere.
Need some fighter cover here.
I have built too many Escort fighters for the Allies and not enough Interceptors, live and learn.

MM did indeed sink a Spanish partisan last turn, it had escaped from Spain through a port and was wandering around the Med as a decoy. Unfortunately it got found by the first attack.

RN not doing too good either, here their escorts failed to protect the Infantry units and on my turn failed to find the attackers with both of my action points.

Happily the Soviets are doing a better job. Shattered a Pz corps and beat up an Infantry this turn.
Have 27 air units, was aiming for 10 of each but ran out of production. Am more or less dishing out equal losses with Axis now facing about 20 air units.
If it were to continue like this think I have the edge, am able to rotate battered units and replace them with fresh ones each turn and there don't seem to be any uber Panzer units around any more. A few periods of mud may allow Axis to regroup and frankly the threat from the Allies has been a bit limp.
Minsk and Riga both recapatured now.

Allies.

Falling back in W Africa but hope I can hold on.
Take two unguarded ports in the Med, think Axis just don't have enough units to guard everywhere.
The remains of my invasion of France is being wiped out.

November 6 1942

In the Mediterranean previous turn we sunk a Bristish CV and this turn we shatter a British corps in Morocco and a division in Tunisia surrender. Played too quick didnt even see the invasion of Sardinia so that was a silly saw it just now when I was looking at the screenshot :)
In general I am not that dissatisfied with how the war vs the Western allies is going.

November 6 1942

If I am kind of ok with the west the situation in the east is really worrisome. I have replacements at 350-400 per turn and it is not enough so holding the Russians off for another 2 years will be difficult. So many units gets mauled down and a fair amount of shatters. Rebuilding units expensive so difficult to build for example enough of supply trucks. Think the early game with too big losses in the airwar and France and then spending a fair amount of resources on Subs will in the end cost me a lot as it should. I am kind of happy the Russians can do so well I was worried they would be toothless but I was very wrong :).

With that said I don´t like the technique with this unlimited bombardment of one hex making any unit a wreck in one turn and then shatter or take huge losses after a couple of attacks. Dont know what others think but I think it is something which should be looked at.

Soviets.
Continue to hammer away, trashing a couple of units a turn.
Seem to have air supremacy here and can afford to use some of the fighters for bombing every turn.

Agree with what you say but don't see this changing. If you cut out the concentrated bombardments it would make things more difficult for the attacker and the whole game would need some rebalancing.

Things not so good in the Med.
My Allies are getting worked over every time I invade and is costing a lot of units. At least it is tying down at least a couple of tank units which are needed on the Eastern front. Did manage to sink most of the German surface fleet the last couple of turns.
Axis have a lot of ports to cover now across the whole Med and not enough units but not sure if I can take advantage.

Just holding out in W Africa thanks to bad weather.
Elsewhere lots of invasions, am hoping Axis won't have the units to counter them everywhere.

Shocked to see MagicMissile able to still hold his front with so much pressure upon it. I would say after a certain point that the Winter Bonus the Soviets get should be given to all sides as they all learned to fight in Winter after 1 or 2 of them and also it would give the Axis stronger holding power Axis Offensive Onslaughts later in the game.
