In other exciting news!!! Seems the hit rate is 9 out of 27 with no CAP(25%).

With marginal CAP we get no hits. But that will change as time goes by.

Most american training BMR sqn are not releasing any pilots until the bombing value is in the 50's with low Nav and Search both in the 40's. As I get more pilots I will raise the standard.

Image

Pretty good score considering that there were only four DDs in that TF. Got two of them though.

Hit Nisshin this turn.

How is BB Colorado (46 Bombs of which 15 were 800Kg) and 19 others ships at Prince Rupert??

Will Post picture.

My art cut out when I grabbed this screenshot.

Strike: 117 Zero, 135 Val, and 182 Kate vs 36 Fighters.

Ships hit: BB Colorado, 3 DD, 3 DM, AVD, APD, 3 AP, AS, 2 KV, AM, 2 ACM, AKL

Losses: 5 Zero, 4 Val, and 5 Kate

Kodiak now needs my attention. We bid a fond farewell to the West Coast, however, we shall be back.

It is mid-June 1942. Where does Japan sit at this point?

We have a concentrated pair of Japanese Carrier TFs off the West Coast. The carriers are:

The BIG SIX: CarDiv 1--Akagi and Amagi (81), CarDiv2--Hiryu and Soryu (69), CarDiv5--Shokaku and Zuikaku (72)
6 CVL: Ryukaku and Karasu (33 Planes each and built after London Conference), Ryujo (39), Shoho (33), Zuiho (33), Nisshin 33--built as CVL instead of CS)
2 CAV: Kushiro and Tokachi (30 Planes)

The CVL's have their complements shifted to an average of 21 Zero, 9 Kate, and 3 Recon-Variant Kate)

The Allies have lost a CV, CVL, and CLV at this point. They started with a total of 2 CAV, 4 CLV, and a CVL extra. Wasp comes in as a Yorktown-Class and Ranger arrives in this scenario as well.

B-17s flying at 1,000Ft on Naval Attack??!!

[:@]

Horse Poo-Doo.

OK. WE want to play tactics and counter-tactics? Drop down at least 1-2 Daitai of Fighters to 5,000 Ft to see if that does anything. Doubtful since the machines are invincible...

IDk, IIRC it could be a 0 range. Several years ago I discovered a training setting that increases 3 skill columns, but i dont remember it now.
LowN or LowG can increase that skill plus Strafe and Defensive. That is only apparent when those skills are all quite low. The gains get pretty spotty later.
What is the use for low ground? bombing under 2000 feet. I guess the b17 gets to use the 10x.5cal guns on ground troops. I guess I need a refresher on airplane altitude commands. Does anyone have a link?

Low Ground, Low Naval, and Strafing for your attack bombers, fighter bombers, and any other aircraft that will attack at low level. At 100 feet, they should Strafe and Low bomb (either Land or Naval.)
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

That looks like more than 2 mines cleared since I count 7 mine hits . . .

We are fully in it now. Kido Butai has finished its diversion and now moves into strike range of Kodiak to add CAP and clobber whatever is needed to be smacked. SEVEN BBs provide gunfire support as two fully prepped ID, 3 Artillery Regiments, and an Engineering Regiment storm ashore. They are opposed by just two Infantry Regiments.

Since the landing started in the last phase before end-of-turn, the AV was low to start with. Not so now.

Have never gone after Alaska before...

All players get to know their opponents over time and can realize important moments within their relationship as players and--hopefully--friends.

Just has one of those with Paul. For the first time the man got into my head and PREDICTED a move I ordered. Now Dan (Canoerebel) has done that many time to me and I to him; however, this was a first between my new opponent and I. All I have to say is THANK GAWD for the weather on this turn! For once I applauded having operations shut down on my flightdecks...

Unloading is pretty much finished at Kodiak. Losses to CD and SS are 1 old CL, 2 DMS, 1 AV, and 3 AK. We'll test the Allied defense to see just how much of a good or bad idea this was!

Something just dawned on me. If we are playing with NO House Rules, then that means no PP buying out to shift borders--RIGHT? I say this as I notice the Chinese flooding into Eastern Burma.

If I am correct--please let me know--then kiss China Goodbye.
